I craft a unique blend of traditional, technical and modern instruction. I also encourage my students to compose, arrange and record their own music using composition and scoring software such as Musescore. I tailor their repertoire toward their own needs and tastes, while endeavoring to broaden their (and my!) exposure to all genre of piano literature. Above all, I am a firm believer that piano instruction should (no, MUST!) be fun, yet disciplined. I take an interest in all aspects of my student's lives, and endeavor as much as possible to connect personally with student and family.

About Jeff

Like many of you, I began formal piano training at the age of 6. That was 60 years ago, and so I have played just about every style of music in the books (including Mario Bros. and Star Wars Theme!). For some of you, I have been playing since your grandparents were kids like you, and for others,

I have been teaching piano for over twenty years. I specialize in classical and pop. I love teaching babies and young children but I teach all ages. Piano is the hardest instrument. I try to make every lesson fun while still providing structure and a little bit of strictness. I use the Mark Nevin, Schaum, and Little Mozart series. I have tons of music to share for students that need to branch out and don't know what to play. Piano is my passion. I love sharing my love for this instrument with others.

About Kay

In addition to teaching standard classical material, I love to guide my students into improvising and creating their own music. I have MA in Music Performance and play the flute at the Northwest Florida Symphony, as well as for weddings, funerals, and churches. What a delight it is to have Yoana as a music teacher for both of my children. She has the perfect blend of skill training and musical passion that she passes on to them. They not only are learning how to master the songs with excellent technique, but more importantly, she teaches them how to truly feel and understand the music. She adds in fun and even a little competition (to make tracking practice hours more like a game) and is always smiling and full of joy which makes them look forward to lessons. As a parent, I have full confidence that she is giving her whole heart to my children throughout their weekly sessions. I love how much she pushes and stretches them, all while loving and encouraging them at the same time. We look forward to many more years learning from her.

Yoana is so patient with our family and takes the time to notice individual strengths of my children. She takes into account each student's interests and guides and coaches them toward goals they are invested in. She uses a curricula that is classic and gets beautiful results! Yoana is such an amazing cheerleader for her students and her kindness and joy in supporting them is contagious. With her encouragement and strong teaching skill, students are confident and equipped to play music they love.

Yoana has a wonderful gift for teaching flute and inspiring enthusiasm in her students. My daughter loves learning from her and enjoys her lessons immensely.

5 Excellent Sight Reading Exercises for Singers

Unless you're a career-chorister, the concept of sight reading music is probably going to at best make you slightly nervous, and at worst paralyze you with fright. However, at some point, probably when you join a choir or perhaps go to an audition, you're going to have to face that hurdle. Sight reading comes easier to some singers than others, but it's not some mythical task akin to retrieving a golden fleece; sight-reading, even for the more able, is a learned skill, and there are several sig …
