While the foundation for all styles of singing is essentially the same, I specialize in teaching contemporary styles (as opposed to classical singing). Contemporary styles such as rock, pop, blues, gospel, country, jazz and Latin have very different styling than classical singing and as such once correct basic vocal technique is established it should be taught very differently than traditional classical singing. I'll help you get power, more range (to be able to sing higher and lower) pitch control (to sing mor ein tune), better tone, more musicality and versatility through a combination of exercises and learning the songs that you love.

About Ricardo
I have been a professional musician and teacher all my adult life. Music is my passion and has always been how I make a living. I teach piano/keyboards, guitar, voice, bass and ukulele. I studied classical piano at SUNY at Buffalo and I initially learned to play guitar and singing on my own. Years later I studied voice and guitar with great professional instructors. I am familiar with different ways of learning music: from very structured and traditional methods (that we use in classical music) to more improvisational and "by ear" approaches as we often do in popular music. This helps me tailor my music teaching specifically to each student based on his/her musical preferences, abilities and learning style. I can teach all styles of music including: Pop, Rock, Blues, Country, Bluegrass, Jazz, many different Latin styles including Salsa, B
olero and Bossa Nova.
I have performed all over the US and toured many countries including Mexico, Canada, Argentina, Uruguay, England and France. I have recorded more than 100 CDs for many artists (as well as my own original music) as a pianist/keyboardist, singer, guitarist and music producer. I have won many awards including most recently the Best Blues Band award as the pianist, guitarist and singer for the Lionel Young Band at the International Blues Challenge (the largest competition of blues bands in the world).
I have taught music through my whole career. Many of my students have gone on to study music as a career and have become successful professional musicians.
I am very comfortable teaching all levels from professional musicians to very beginners at any age.
I currently lead and perform with my group. We perform concerts, private events and some club work. My life as a professional musician has given me a lot of knowledge to share with my students.

*** Lesson Details ***
I adjust my approach based on what you want to learn, always with an emphasis on learning as much as possible while making the lessons fun and enjoyable. If you are a beginning piano/keyboard or guitar student I can teach you the basics of how to read music and how to play chords in the first few months and then we can decide whether you are interested in playing written music or more improvisational styles. I use different method books depending on the student and sometimes I use just my teaching materials if you are only interested in improvisational styles like Rock or Blues guitar or piano (for example). If you are a voice student, I teach with a combination of learning songs you like and using a CD/MP3s of vocal exercises that help develop good vocal technique. Whatever your instrument and musical preference you can be sure we'll have fun and you'll be making music from the very start!

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have a Yamaha upright piano and keyboards. I have acoustic and electric guitars, bass and amps. I have Shure Sm-58 mics to teach microphone technique with.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Student must have his/her own instrument and metronome (or equivalent) must purchase course book(s) if needed..

*** Specialties ***
I teach different styles depending on the students goals. I can teach a traditional classical style for those interested in classical music and I can teach more practical approaches for popular music such as learning by chords (for instrumental students- not voice obviously) and learning improvisation through scales, arpeggios and music theory.

On top of being a great piano, voice, and guitar teacher, Ricardo is a brilliant musician with a varied and rich musical history. I came to Ricardo looking to improve on my classical piano skills, and ended up learning blues piano and some great techniques for learning how to play popular songs on the piano. He also helped me with voice and guitar.

I found Ricardo's lessons to be engaging, mentally stimulating, challenging, and fun. When I was playing blues piano, he would jam along with me on the guitar to help me get better at playing with others, and not just solo. He did the same thing for me when teaching me on the guitar as well, it was a blast! He pushed me to be a better musician in general - I came to him with a very narrow focus and he broadened my musical horizons. Thank you Ricardo for helping me become a better piano player, vocalist, and guitar player!

Offering beginning voice lessons to all ages in all genres and styles.
Lessons are catered to the individual student's goals and learning styles.
Unlike instructors who only use karaoke tracks for accompaniment, I accompany my students on the piano. This allows me to make accompaniment recordings for the students to practice with. I provide warm-ups, melody tracks and full piano accompaniment tracks (at appropriate tempos). This is very beneficial for students when practicing as the accompaniment recordings can "grow" with their skill level on each song. It also gives the student the flexibility to choose songs that would normally be outside of their vocal range, because we can transpose the song and make recordings in a key that works for them!
I specialize in working with young voices that are still developing and helping students learn the differences between choral singing and solo singing.

About Kit
With 2 degrees in music and more than 8 years of teaching experience, I offer piano and voice lessons to any age and any level! I consider the most important aspect of teaching to be creating an environment where a love of music can be discovered and nurtured. Everyone is offered the opportunity to discover and deepen their love of music. I chose to make music my career so that I can guide you on your priceless journey towards becoming a better musician...a better person.

*** Lesson Details ***
I do not use one set curriculum. Instead, I have familiarized myself with a dozen various curriculum, and choose the best fit for each individual student. I am open to using books you already own as supplemental material and encourage students to share their suggestions in selecting music. Every student has different goals, and I tailor t
he lessons to meet them.
Within the first lesson, we will set short and long term goals and lesson plans will be made to help you achieve them.
I provide accompaniment and melody recordings for vocal students to practice with.
Material will be sent home with you to peruse at your convenience. This will include articles from music dictionaries, archives, journals and more to give you an opportunity to become a well rounded musician.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Upright piano in living room with waiting area for parents so they may sit in on lessons.
Music stand provided for voice lessons.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Some music may be provided by myself and I am also willing to work with certain books the student may already own. There will be at least one book required for purchase. I expect students to have a pencil and notebook at every lesson.
Water is welcome and encouraged for vocal students.

Parking is available on the street directly outside the studio.

*** Specialties ***
Too often I have seen damage caused to the vocal chords from an instructor's lack of knowledge in developing voices. I am proud to offer voice lessons where I specialize in working with young voices that are still maturing!

I provide piano accompaniment for vocal lessons at no additional cost. I also make accompaniment recordings for the students to practice with. This allows me to transpose songs, letting students learn songs that might otherwise be out of their vocal range. It also allows for flexibility in the tempo so students can learn at a slower pace and increase speed as they become more comfortable.

I believe in teaching a well rounded curriculum and therefore introduce my students to the styles of all genres.

Only a 1st lesson, but Kit is great with my Daughter. She had 2 months of piano lessons 4 years ago (when she was 8), but picked it up very quickly and was playing songs almost immediately with Kit as her instructor. The sign that it was a success is that upon returning home she went to the keyboard and wanted to practice what she had learned. Highly recommended.

I cannot speak highly enough about Kit! For my wedding, I wanted to surprise Ashleigh by singing a particular song. Not only had I never had singing lessons, but I also had zero confidence in my voice that I could pull this off. Kit is SO PATIENT! She took the time to tailor my lessons to help me learn the song, and weekly tips. She also went out of her way to work with my schedule, since my lessons had to be a secret since it was for a surprise.
When the night of our wedding came along, Kit's patience and teaching paid off- I was confident and comfortable, which made the experience memorable and fun!! It was a part of our wedding we will both always cherish. Thank you very much Kit!!!

Whether you want to prepare yourself for college auditions, sing better at your choir or church, or just enjoy the fun nd health benefits of singing, I can help you. With almost 15 years of teaching experience, I have come to watch many of my students go on to college and graduate school successfully. Most of them under full tuition scholarships. I am a classically trained singer myself and the approach to my lessons are over all focused on healthy emission of the voice with emphasis on breath suport and appropriate placement according to the style you want to perform: classical, musical theatre, jazz or any contemporary genre. I will help you reach your goals with vocal exercises and weekly routines designed specific for your needs. All you need is desire to learn and enjoy!

About Daniela
I hold a Bachelor degree in Vocal Performance and a Masters in Vocal Performance and Voice Pedagogy. Singing and teaching are my two passions! I am a classically trained singer with an operatic lyric soprano voice. Opera is my first love, but I also like and enjoy singing musical theatre, jazz and other contemporary genres. In fact, for quite a while I taught at a Berklee International Network School in South America, where jazz was the main emphasis of my students. I enjoy teaching students from any age and any background. From beginners to more advanced singers, as they all present some form of challenge and different rewarding experiences.
Coincidentally, I have come to teach mostly teenagers and young adults, sort of specializing in college audition preparation where %100 of my students who have applied to attend music school have su
ccessfully been accepted. Most of them under full tuition scholarships to pursue singing careers. Some of them are currently attending the University of Denver, CU Boulder, University of the Redlands, University of British Columbia, Universitat Mozarteum (Salzburg). I also have experience teaching senior citizens from a community choir and members from an all visually impaired choir. I have never encountered any difficulty while teaching students with special needs. This experiences have actually made me become a better more creative educator.
My lessons are focused on healthy emission of the voice working on breath support and adequate placement of the voice according to the style. Once we have gone through a diagnostic and discuss the student´s goals, I prepare a routine of vocal exercises tailored for the individual needs and skill level of the student as well as negotiate on the repertoire that the student wants to sing.
If teaching in the student´s home, I expect for the student to have at least a basic music keyboard for pitch matching purposes. I also expect my students to practice in between lessons so that every time we meet we can add another layer of knowledge. This will bring gratification and fulfillment to both of us!

Dani is a really special instructor for me! She helped me realize how big my passion for singing was because, since the beginning, she has inspired me with her singing, passion, and knowledge. She was my teacher for 4 years and she prepared me to get into CU Boulder’s School of Music. With her guidance I improved not only my vocal technique, but my musicality, acting skills, languages, and every single aspect that a singer needs to be a professional artist. She was really specific and patient about my growth as an opera singer and she always helped me find the perfect repertoire for me. I can say that I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for her. Dani saw the best in me even when I didn’t, and I am still learning a lot from her.

Daniela has been my favorite vocal trainer so far. Besides her expirience and knowledge about the voice, she took time to really listen to my voice and identify things I was doing wrong, or things I did not even know how to do. She empowered me so much that now I actually use my whole body to sing, and I also feel more confident to do challenging things, with my voice, with no harm. I feel that there is a before and after, in my voice, thanks to Daniela as my teacher.

Dani is really the best instructor ever. When I started taking lessons with her my goal was to prepare for a college audition. Immediately she helped me identify where I could improve my technique and offered a variety of exercises that suited me best. She is familiar with tons of classical repertoire as well as jazz and popular songs. I really enjoyed that she made my lessons challenging enough to help me grow musically, but always working on something within my reach. She also has many incredibly useful performance hacks to help get out the best of you when its time to be on stage. I am happy to say that all the time and our hard work was well spent. After I auditioned for the college I wanted I received not only the acceptance letter, but also a near full tuition musical merit based scholarship. Thank you so much Dani!

All levels of singers will learn proper breathing and technique.

About Adriane
For as long as I can remember, music has played a large part in my life. By the age ten, I already knew that music would be more than just a hobby for me, it would become my career. I have been singing for over 20 years, and began playing piano when I was eight years old. I received a BS in music industry studies with an emphasis on business, from the University of Colorado Denver in 2008. I have extensive experience in performance and the music industry as a business, and have had the pleasure of experiencing the local music scene first hand while playing in bands. My years of experience enables my students to learn different aspects of music from the fundamentals, to writing, and even the music industry as a business. Students should expect to quickly grasp the basic skills such as proper breathing and posture, and will start singing or
playing right away. I truly enjoy sharing my love of music and the industry with my students.

About Corinne
Corinne D. specializes in healthy belting for musical theatre, pop, jazz, R&B, gospel and country styles of singing as well as classical and opera. She has been teaching privately since 2006, and spent two years as a student teacher for the Knoxville Children's Choirs, in her home state of Tennessee. Corinne holds a dual Master's in Opera and Musical Theatre Performance from Arizona State University, and a Bachelor's in Voice Performance with a minor in Theatre Performance from Middle Tennessee State University. Her healthy belt technique was developed through years of training in both classical and popular styles of singing with pedagogues such as David Jones, Lauren Sawyer, Anne Kopta, and Dr. Christine Isley-Farmer. Ms. D. spent the summer of 2011 studying opera and German Cabaret singing, as well as performing at the Middle Saxony Th
eatre in Freiberg, Germany. When studying with Corinne, singers develop classical technique as a foundation and then learn to modify the resonating space to create the desired sound for their style- leading to a popular sound without strain on the vocal cords. A strong performer, Corinne also has thorough training as an actor, and integrates acting into her lessons to turn out not simply singers, but well-rounded performers. Her musical theatre credits include: "Die Dreigroschenoper" (The Threepenny Opera) (Jenny), "Der kleine Horrorladen" (Little Shop of Horrors) (Chiffon), "The Last 5 Years" (Cathy), "Once Upon a Mattress" (Lady Larken), "Anything Goes!" (Erma), "Pippin" (Fastrada), "High School Musical" (Ms. Darbus) and "Nunsense!" (Sister Hubert). Opera credits include: "Vanessa" (Vanessa cover), "Hansel and Gretel" (Witch), "Die Zauberflote" (First Lady and Second Lady), "Suor Angelica" (La Zia Principessa and La Maestra della Novizie), and "Tartuffe" (Elmire). Corinne is also very passionate about working with modern composers and playwrights, and sang in the premiers of the following musicals and operas: "Some-thing from No-thing", "Scarlet Letter... The Musical", "Queen Victoria's Floating Garden of Secrets and Natural Wonders", and "Mayor Moon and the Storytelling Festival" - a children's musical that premiered in the US and then toured in Honduras as part of Middle Tennessee State University's Honduras Project.

*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons generally consist of 1/2 exercises and technique, and 1/2 repertoire, style and performance. Repertoire is chosen by the student and Corinne together- she will never assign a student a song they hate! Sheet music of repertoire will either be provided by Corinne or purchased by the student (most can be purchased online, downloaded and printed). Corinne generally works with accompaniment tracks for singer repertoire, so students can practice with accompaniment at home, and she can focus on listening to their singing during lessons. These can generally be purchased on Amazon.com and downloaded very cheaply. Corinne provides all singers with high quality Mp3 recordings of each lesson for easy practice of exercises and review.

Learn how to sing any song you desire! We'll use warm-ups to work on breath, range, placement, projection, rhythms, solfege (do, re, mi...) and ear training, then apply those techniques to the songs and genre of your choice. With music moving so far into technology, I also like to offer the option of incorporating studio equipment into lessons. This will allow you to learn about mic technique as well as what recording vocals is like! My ultimate goal is to teach you how to better your singing voice in an easy and fun fashion :)

About Calee
With a deep understanding of music, 15 years of studying, and 3 years of teaching under her belt, Calee is equipped to help break things down to make learning music fun and easy. She understands there are many routes to learning music and wants to teach the way you want to learn. Begin your journey with a method book; study your favorite artists; learn how to create songs; discover improvising (this does not exclusively apply to jazz!); become a better sight reader; learn from the classics; learn from Hip-Hop; you get the idea. I want you to learn what you want to learn! Choose any of these routes via voice and/or piano and together we'll make you the musician you've always dreamed of becoming! 😄🎵🎹🎤🙌🏼

I believe that students should love the music they are playing and singing. So while there may be some music that is necessary to build technique, I strive to find music that is also enjoyable!

My son has taken lessons from Catherine for a year and a half. He had no experience at all when we started, and I'm amazed at how much he's learned in such a short time! He is learning theory, sight reading, musicianship, etc. Catherine does such a good job connecting with him at his level and accommodating his personality while still challenging him with what she knows he can handle. She has always been so flexible and easy to work with! We plan on sticking around for years to come. :)

As an adult picking up a new skill, I was grateful to find Catherine. She is a very nice knowledgeable instructor and has already taught me so much in one session.
She's very easy going and has the patience whenever I have a ton of questions.

My oldest son started piano lessons with Catherine a couple of years ago, he was less than enthused about it at the start, but after his very first lesson Catherine already had him excited about it! He loves taking lessons with Miss Catherine so much that his little brother, now 6, started taking lessons with her as well, and he also loves her and going to see her every week. She makes lessons fun and educational, and that's something that my children really respond to and love. I would recommend Catherine as an instructor to anyone, but especially people with head strong kids that they really want to take to the piano and music lessons as a whole.
