About Ann
I am President of a growing and flourishing arts organization that specializes in education outreach and commissioning new works. I also tour nationally as a solo/principal soprano and have worked locally with companies like Los Angeles Opera, Opera Pacific, Opera a la Carte and many other Southern California performing arts organizations. I have a BA in vocal performance from Cal Poly Pomona and have worked as a professional singer and teaching artist for the last twenty-five years. In addition to teaching voice in my studio, I am currently working as a teaching artist in several different schools and special education sites throughout Southern California. I love to teach, I love when students make breakthroughs, and I love overcoming challenges and solving problems. I specialize in light opera and musical theater. My philosop
hy is that if a student develops good singing technique, they can sing in any style, from pop music to opera, and keep their voice healthy. No two voices are the same and each of us has our own unique instrument, with the right training that instrument can grow and work at it's optimum. I approach my lessons with humor, putting the student at ease, if the student is comfortable and relaxed, they are more open to learning and their voice will sound much more free and beautiful.

*** Lesson Details ***
The lessons are designed around each student's particular need, especially when it comes to how the student likes to learn, not every person learns the same way, so flexibility is key. The student will be given a solid concept of good breath support, work with matching pitches, singing with a line, producing good tone quality and singing with good diction and projection. The student is ultimately going to learn how to become their own voice teacher, they will learn how to listen to their voice and be able to identify warning signs of vocal trouble and how to prevent and solve problems. After about three months the student will be producing much prettier tone and begin to grasp the concept of breath support. As time moves on, they will build their ability to support their voice, open up their sound so they can get more volume without hurting their instrument and the student will develop a better endurance, being able to sing longer and not tire out too quickly. As the students technique develops and strengthens, they will become more confident. If the student is already performing or has worked to the point where they are ready to start performing, then we will spend more time on interpretation and acting as well as developing a confident stage presence.

Students will learn to develop their voice through singing exercises and vocal exercises. I will teach them the methodology of how to get the best tone out of their voice, and how to approach singing both from a physical and mental aspect.

About Kory
Hi, my name is Kory, and I am currently an under graduate at Cal Poly Pomona studying Music and Business.

I have been playing guitar for over 10 years, and have taught guitar to dozens of students over the last 4-5 years. I also study recording and production, and have played in Cal Poly's Jazz Combo, Vocal Jazz Ensemble, and Concert Choir (For more specific info, you can check out the "experience" section of my page).

In addition, I song-write and record music with my band, "Search For Delicious," a group of close friends from High School. You can check us out on Facebook and Bandcamp, and in the videos below.

My personal philosophy to teaching is that every student is a unique individual. I always start by connecting with the student, and figuring out what interests/goals they have in mind. Then I craft a lesson plan that wil
l help them achieve their goals, and work with their strengths and weaknesses. I practice patience and friendliness, and always do my best to inspire, motivate, and teach hard work/perseverance.

Teaching and music are both passions that I put my all into. I have experience teaching many individuals of a wide range of ages, sexes, backgrounds, and musical experience, and I can guarantee, whether you're a beginner, or a very experienced player, you will see results

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide an acoustic guitar, picks, a chord, and an amp. I expect the student to have either an acoustic or electric guitar to be able to practice with, but if they don't I can cover him/her.

*** Specialties ***
Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Singing, Songwriting, Recording, Music Theory, Ear Training, Logic Pro X

Genres: Indie, Alternative, Pop, Punk, Acoustic, Rock, Surf, Metal, Jazz, Electronic, Psychedelic

I have been a professional vocalist, studio musician, recording artist and songwriter starting at 15 and have studied voice extensively since I was 16 with some of the country's premier vocal coaches. Over the years I've molded together the best of everything I learned to create my own "Tech and Truth Method™" and now I share it with my students! By applying a combination of classical and speech-level methods to all styles of contemporary repertoire, I can help you improve upon and/or master the following:

A daily vocal workout that will keep your cords in tip-top shape well into your golden years.
Chest mix - my specialty; my techniques will keep you from blowing your voice out ever again.
Breathing - it's just not as complicated as some would have you think.
Tone - color, warmth and fullness can be yours, usually with minor adjustments.
Range - did you know you could hit that note? Totally true. And easy.
Power - louder is not correcter; learn to hit the back of the room ...

About Darci
Greetings, songbirds! ♪♫

I'm Darci M. and I would love nothing more than to sing with you! I've been a professional vocalist since I was 15 and have studied voice with some of the country's best teachers since I was 16 (and let's just say that was a hot minute ago!). I've been coaching singers for a living since at least 2001 (on and off long before that, really). I just might be the best kept secret in Los Angeles because I keep my roster small in order to maintain focus on each individual singer and keep things exciting and fresh at all times. You won't catch me "phoning it in" with my singers. I love what I do and maintaining a smaller, select roster of committed artists helps me keep it that way! 😁

My down-to-earth attitude (I'm originally an east coaster!) and cozy but open environment will make you feel at home and at ease. M
y fool-proof "Tech and Truth Method™" for voice and years of hands-on performance experience will help you get your voice where you need it to go. I don't believe in distracting you with a bunch of bells and whistles and unfounded promises. I believe less is more. I believe in keepin' it real. I believe in helping your find YOUR voice and then helping you master it. I believe in REALLY teaching you the art of singing with safety and freedom and to perform for your audience with heart and authenticity. If that sounds like what you're looking for, then the Darci M. Vocal Style Studio is the perfect fit for you! 👍

Darci is amazing!

I have been taking lessons with Darci for quite awhile now. She is a fantastic coach and has helped me expand my vocal capabilities, making me feel more confident in any performance or audition situation. I have a strictly Musical Theatre/Classical background and with her help, I can know comfortably sing many different styles of music.

What really makes Darci stand out as an instructor is the environment she creates. She is nurturing without pandering, supportive while being straight forward. That type of honest, thoughtful coaching is hard to come by in a city like Los Angeles. She is truly unique in a city full of cookie cutters. I would not want to learn from anyone else!

My goal is to work with the individual singer in acquiring a solid, healthy vocal technique which results in healthy singing. Students will learn to navigate their voice and work around problem areas. Students will expand range and learn to manipulate the voice to fit the musical style required of the piece.

Each private voice lesson will consist of focused work catered toward the students’ needs. The technique will then be applied to the repertoire chosen by the teacher and student.

About Jennifer
I have always had a passion for musical theatre and vocal performance. I belted my way to Los Angeles and attended the University of Southern California, Thornton School of Music, where I received a B.M. in Vocal Performance.

Upon completing my Bachelor’s degree, I received an M.M. in Musical Theatre from the Boston Conservatory. When I wasn’t enjoying some wicked good clam chowdah, I could be found onstage as a concert soloist with the Boston Pops conducted by Keith Lockhart or belting the national anthem at Fenway Park.

Wanting to combine my joy for traveling with my love for performance, I also studied acting at the British American Drama Academy in Oxford, England, musical theatre at NYU’s CAP 21, and opera at OperaWorks in California. I have performed in New York at Birdland and the Laurie Beechman Theatre, and in New Hampsh
ire with the Great Waters Music Festival and New Hampshire Dance Institute.

Fueling my wanderlust, I traveled the world in the International Tour of CATS. I have also performed in many regional theatres throughout the country. Some of my favorite credits include: The Marvelous Wonderettes, Light in the Piazza, Guys and Dolls, The Golden Apple, and The Full Monty.

I've been teaching private lessons since 2006 and have loved helping my students expand their vocal range, increase their repertoire, gain solid technique, and just enjoy singing. Each lesson will begin with a vocal warm-up focusing on breath, posture, and technique. We will then work on your music together. I want to know what type and styles of music you like and am happy to help provide you with new material ideas. My background is primarily in musical theatre/Broadway which embraces all styles of music including classical, jazz, pop, rock, and country.

I can't wait to meet you!
