I have been singing since I was old enough to sing and it's something I do professionally almost every day. I will teach you some basic techniques such as breathing, posture, singing exercises and how to select a repertoire that best fits you. From there, we will go on to develop your goals as a vocalist and make you feel great about taking the floor, whether it be at karaoke, a party, the stage or your living room. I'm excited to meet you and sing with you!

About Jessica
Hello! Thanks for checking out my profile. Please feel free to ask me any questions. -Jessica

***About Jessica***
Jessica is known worldwide for her music which incorporates her original comedy, artwork and videos. She spent a decade touring the US and the UK and has performed in many festivals including the Reading & Leeds Festival, Latitude Festival, Montreal Comedy Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Dublin Comedy Festival, End of the Road Festival, NY Funny Songs Festival, NY International Children’s Film Festival and more.

Jessica’s music and comedy is inspired by being the oldest of 6 girls and growing up in a small town in Maine, where she taught Sunday school and counseled teens and twins in a local after school program for four years. When Jessica was 19, she moved to Philadelphia to study animation after receiving a par
tial scholarship to the Art Institute of Philadelphia, and relocated to NYC shortly after graduating.

Her unique music, performances, art and internet videos have won many awards and critical acclaim.

She has performed her music and written segments and songs for television (including ABC’s “Good Morning America”, MTV’s “I Bet You Will”, Fox News “Red Eye with Greg Gutfeld”, IFC's "Comedy Music Hall of Fame", HGTV's Flea Market Flip, TBS’s “Saving Grace” website and “The Tyra Banks Show”), radio (including "The Dr. Demento Show", "The Jackie Martling Show", WFMU's "Spreading Yourself Thin with Jessica D" and “The Opie and Anthony Radio Show” on SiriusXM, BBC’s “Loose Ends Radio Programme” and BBC’s “The Simone Show” in the UK), feature films (including “What Would Jesus Buy?” directed by Morgan Spurlock), commercially for major clients and also on stages across the US and the UK (including London’s prestigious Soho Theatre, NYC’s Irving Plaza, Joe’s Pub and The Bowery Ballroom as John Waters’ opening act, and LA’s Troubadour).

*** Lesson Details ***
Jessica brings a lot of fun to her lessons. She is like a cool aunt or a big sister who likes to have a good time but who also wants to teach you to play guitar or ukulele and sing, hopefully at the same time. Jessica's laid back style and attention to your needs as a student will help you reach your goals, whatever they may be. Together, you will go as fast or as slow as is comfortable for you. Jessica works with classic rock, pop, folk and all your favorite songs as your step ladder for learning. Jessica also can help you develop your own musical style and teach you to write YOUR OWN SONGS from beginning to end, if that is of interest to you.

*** Studio Equipment ***
amp, microphone, keyboard, guitar, ukulele, music stands

*** Travel Equipment ***
Guitar and Ukulele. Students can rent instruments initially but must get their own, as soon as possible

*** Specialties ***
Classic stringed instruments such as acoustic / electric guitar and ukulele, and several unusual instruments such as singing saw and electronic and standard autoharp, singing, songwriting and guidance on how to monetize your band, including acquiring sponsorships and arranging local and international tours.

***What Are Lessons Like?***

Jessica is a virtuoso on the ukulele. She has the patience of a saint with less than adept students. Yet she is insistent, in a gentle way, about instilling correct form in her students' approach to the uke. In addition, she is a walking encyclopedia of songs that span the range from traditional to standards to current day favorites, and from country to r&B to rock and roll.

A wide variety of repertoire choices including new releases. I teach a variety of genres including: Broadway, Jazz, Rock, Classical, Popular, Folk, and more!

About Kristen
My name is Kristen B. I am a private voice instructor in the San Diego area. I work from my home studio with students of all ages. I am a graduate of Westminster Choir College, which has a world-renowned music program. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Music, Voice Primary, Piano Secondary. I also have obtained my Masters in Music Education from Boston University. I have extensively studied vocal technique, music theory, and music teaching, and have been trained in Classical, Musical Theater, and Popular music styles.

I was previously a member of the Westminster Symphonic Choir (2008-2010). I have sung in many professional venues in New York including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. In Philadelphia I have sung at the Kimmel Center. In California I have sung at Copley Symphony Hall.

I am a member of the San Diego Master Chorale, which
performs frequently with the San Diego Symphony Orchestra. I also cantor at St. Therese of Carmel Catholic church and perform weekly with the choir.

I teach students not only how to sing, but also how to perform. This will benefit all students who are looking to audition for a musical, or are interested in performing in front of an audience.

I also teach students how to read music and understand basic music theory. This will benefit students who want to further their musical knowledge.

I believe that it is important for music students to learn how to be true musicians. For this reason I have created a student centered curriculum that includes a variety of learning objectives including: vocal and breathing technique, improvisation, listening and interpreting, student song selection, performance, music theory, and community musical involvement.

*** Lesson Details ***
All students who work with me have their own personalized lesson plans. Together we work towards achieving the student's individual goals. I teach my students the skills to become successful musicians. Students then use these skills in practice at home.

I believe that healthy singing is the most important thing for students to learn. I teach students proper breathing techniques along with healthy vocal practices. Each lesson will start with a warm up. These warm ups will help strengthen the voice so it does not become injured or strained.

I also believe that it is important for singers to know how to read sheet music and to know a bit about musical theory. For students who do not know how to read music, part of the lesson will be devoted to learning musical theory. This is important for home practice, and for furthering musical knowledge.

Kristen is SO helpful. I've only taken a few classes so far and my vocal abilities and confidence behind a microphone have improved drastically. I started singing late -- at age 27 -- and without much instruction so it has been a difficult process on a steep learning curve so far (the past two years). Kristen punts me farther up that curve every time we meet :).

She is structured but not rigid, super knowledgeable and very professional. Highly recommend her!

: I endeavor to teach you a natural and easy vocal production; to teach you a good solid technique of singing and to help you develop confidence and a polished delivery as a singing artist on and off the stage.

Our work together is an intuitive journey of discovery. Your participation in giving feedback about what you are experiencing during our sessions together as well as what happens in your practice sessions and in your performances is an invaluable tool for us to discover and develop your voice.

Practice: I encourage you to practice 20 minutes a day. An hour is ideal. Singing is like anything that you want to master: it improves with work and investigation. The voice is a curiously individual element of each person and aside from the basics of technique no two voices work the same. Our work together is to develop your unique voice and to discover how it works. Working outside our sessions on a regular basis will help you take ownership of your voice and technique.

3) Training allows for more tone coloration, a wider dynamic range, a full use and blending of the registers and greater stamina.
4) Extensive training and practical voice work gives a singer with long-range career aspirations the tools necessary to succeed in an incredibly competitive business. Whether the music is rock, pop, jazz, rhythm and blues, country, musical theater or classical, the trained singer can better meet the demands of a life on the stage as a singer.

I began singing at a very young age for anyone who would listen and began taking music and voice lessons shortly thereafter. I am a USC graduate and have also studied music privately for over 20 years as well as at the Vocal Power Academy of Los Angeles. My main musical styles that I perform and teach are Pop, Rock, Folk, and Americana/Country but I also have a background in Musical Theater. I specialize in creating a lesson plan that suits the needs and skill set of each individual student.

About Arrica
I was born and raised in Los Angeles but I've just recently relocated to the Bay Area. I am a Professional Musician/Songwriter/Vocalist teaching songwriting, voice, and performance technique as well as a combination thereof. I began singing at a very young age for anyone who would listen (so my parents tell me) and began taking music lessons shortly thereafter. I am now a USC graduate and have also studied music privately for over 25 years as well as at the esteemed Vocal Power Institute. I've professionally released several albums and I am grateful to have had my music featured/licensed by Starbucks, NBC, The CW network, NikeWomen.com, and MTV. I've toured extensively playing to audiences across the country and have had the honor of sharing the stage with artists ranging from Conor Oberst, Inara George, Johnette Napolitano, Martha Wain
wright, to Jackson Browne. I have experience teaching both adults and children, and enjoy teaching beginning as well as intermediate to advanced students. In addition to teaching privately, I have experience teaching children through my volunteer work with The Girls Rock Alliance, a non-profit organization that aims to teach young girls about self-confidence and self-expression through music education.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am easy-going, friendly and I believe that developing a great student/teacher rapport is the key to making the most out of the time we spend together. The curriculum I utilize is specifically designed to meet the student's individual needs. Initially we'll spend time assessing where you are and where you'd like to be. Most importantly, we'll set goals and create a lesson plan that will allow you to attain them. We'll work on basic techniques (or intermediate to advanced depending on skill level), for example - breath support, vowel placement, posture, relaxation, the fundamentals of song structure and music theory. We'll also work on the psychology of performance and eliminating any unwanted tension that may arise. We'll choose songs to work on that you'll enjoy singing, or analyze the songs you love in order to discover and/or improve upon your own songwriting abilities.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Front music studio area w/ guitars, computer with protools, keyboard, microphone, pa system, and seating for parents

About Eulis

Hello! Thanks for visiting my Takelessons profile. Let me start off by telling you a bit about myself:
I have been performing for over 20 years as a musician, acting since I was a small boy, and working consistently with public speaking, accent reduction and other presentational skills throughout my career. I started my musical education as a woodwind player and settled in to the wonderful world of singing over time. Music has opened me up to so many incredible opportunities from touring the world to performing in marvelous concert halls and working with some of today's most respected artists, as well as giving me the opportunity to expand my performance skills through acting in various plays, musicals, television, and film.

Performing has absolutely b
een my salvation! Throughout my life it has been a best friend and constant source of joy, and I share this gift with others so that it might help them to find the same joy. After more than 10 years of teaching, I have so many new experiences to draw from and share with my students. I've spent the last 9 years performing with Disney in California and abroad in their Tokyo Disney cast, and I must say that those experiences, vast and varied as they are, have given the word "performance" a new depth. I'm always excited to dive into every lesson with fresh ideas that will mesh well with many tried and tested teaching techniques.

Originally from Los Angeles, I now reside in Orange County and I'm especially proud to have expanded my studio to serving clients all over the world with online lessons via Skype and FaceTime! I get such joy from sharing my experiences with a diverse group of people from many walks of life.
If you're interested in learning more about my lesson style, feel free to contact me and I'd be happy to talk with you about a plan to help you reach your goals! You're also welcome to visit my website at euliskay.com to learn more about me and what I do!

For Students of Voice: Teaching Style

Over the past several years I have focused much of my personal growth on developing my ears' ability to pick out and pinpoint vocal “placement”, resonance, subtleties of timbre, changes in pitch, breath support, air speed and flow, pronunciation and diction, and in general, the way in which all of these work together to create style. From these assessments, I work with the student’s particular needs to address each area individually and based on the learning style of each person.
To illustrate to the student their method as I see and hear it, as well as ways in which they might make changes to facilitate the ease of singing --be they changes of tessitura (range), length of phrase, tone color, the release of unnecessary tension etc.-- I make use of vocalise (vocal exercises), simile and metaphor, examples from recorded performances, demonstration, self assessment, and techniques to “trick” the voice into acting in a different way, in addition to videos, diagrams, and texts on anatomy and physiology. I feel that all of these tools provide a unique and personalized learning experience for each student.

I came to Geovonna with No Ear for singing, halfhearted at best, I love music and singing but was not born with the gift. Geovonna helped me discover that a tone def person who couldn't hold a note to save his life can actually truly SING!! I believe that if she hadn't cared about my progress, and paid careful attention to my strengths and weaknesses and tactfully worked with me accordingly in developing my ear and voice, my love for singing would have faded away. Today I am very happy with my progress and can't stop singing!!! I catch myself in awe that I am actually singing beautiful! though I have much work to do. Thank You Geovonna!! see you on our next session!! :)

I can't even say, how amazing Geovonna is at her job! She has such a positive energy , is so dedicated and keeps you motivated throughout the whole lesson! Before Geovonna, I've had many different teachers and I didn't really learn much, because they made it so complicated and hard to understand ): But then I met Geovonna and within the first 20 minutes of my first lesson I had already seen such a big difference!!! I feel like she has a GREAT teaching technique and she makes learning so much fun!!! And thats very important, to have fun when learning something because it makes everything easier for you and a lot more enjoyable! I've never fell more in love with music in my entire life, I have a HUGE PASSION for music and that is thanks to Geovonna!!! Not, only that but she brings out an incredible amount of confidence in you and if anything seems a little hard for you she spots it, breaks it down and helps you through the process! I've also had singing lessons with her and I never was really much of a singer but now I can hear the difference in my voice since when I didn't sing at all and I'm willing to learn anything else she could put in my way because with her I'm 100% sure , without a doubt that it would be a success! The hardest things, to me are way easier! If you ever come across Geovonna do not let her go because you will never come across another teacher like her without hesitation I can tell you that she is the best at what she does and she will make you an amazing musician/singer!

Geovonna teaches my little sister as wel. My sister is already caught up to me and she is 6! She is very flexiable with the schedule, and she is very kind and sweet. I've learned a lot from her. She makes it super easy and fun, and when I kept messing up she made me feel very relaxed and then I nailed it! Her teaching skills are very simple but very helpful. I recommend her.
