I can teach beginning guitar students how to play their favorite songs. Also, how to read tabs and chord charts. Advanced students can learn theory and jazz improvisation. I can help students who have been using a capo learn how to play bar chords so you will no longer need a capo.
Guitar students should be at least nine years old.
I do not teach finger picking style.
I have been teaching young people and adults how to play musical instruments for over 20 years. A lot of my students are well on their way to a rewarding future with music, some as professionals and others as hobbyists. In addition to being a teacher, I am also a professional performer who has work

I guarantee that within 4 lessons, we will be playing full songs together. I am an experienced teacher of 5 years. I teach guitar, piano, and ukulele. I began my teaching career at Guitar Center in Dallas, successfully teaching over 30 students weekly. All students are encouraged to be the best musicians they can. I have a strong growth mentality that gives students the motivation to learn. Students are then given tools to succeed. I have formulated my own teaching style to make learning music easier. I am comfortable teaching all ages and levels of knowledge. Lessons are tailored to the goals of each student. Together, we will be building an understanding of note reading, technique, music theory, ear training, and sight reading. You will learn, but we will have fun.
Michael is very extroverted and laid back. All of his students have been very comfortable as he uses encouragement to drive the interest in learning an instrument. Michael is an accomplished musician. He has performed and instructed for several years in the Dallas area. From the time he was seven,

Greg also has a plenty of patience for his students and is really good at encouraging growth and understanding in his students. Sometimes I would come in with a song I wanted to learn that was way more advanced than I was at the time, but rather than say I couldn't play it or to wait until later, he would take that difficult song and help break it down into what I did know and we'd go from there and as I result I felt I learned quickly, as well as understood how to break down songs into their more basic elements which would become later on for when I wrote my own music or lead in bands.
All in all a great experience and I feel like I owe a lot of my musical ability to the lessons I took with Greg."
My granddaughters took voice, guitar, and piano from Missy from the age of third grade through high school. I selected Missy due to her experience: classically trained on piano and voice during her formative years, studied at Berklee College of Music, Boston, toured the country as a solo singer/songwriter, and played world-famous and iconic venues, including the late CBGBs in New York City and the Bluebird in Nashville. You can find her on iTunes, and one of her students, Paul Thomas Mitchell (a.k.a. Tommy Mitchell) was on the hit television show, America's Got Talent.
When my granddaughters were young, Missy worked tirelessly to create lesson plans for my granddaughters in order to keep them interested in music. For example, if my younger granddaughter (3rd grade at the time) was unmotivated to practice in her workbooks at home, Missy would spend part of a lesson just talking with my granddaughter about what music she was currently enjoying. Then Missy would incorporate that music into her lesson plan. As a result, my granddaughter became once again motivated to practice. Missy makes lessons fun while still teaching technique.
I never imagined all that my granddaughters would learn and enjoy while studying under Missy. And Missy's work with her students does not end in her music studio. My granddaughters participated in summer band camps and performed at small local venues, all organized by Missy.
Although my granddaughters no longer take lessons from Missy, because they live out of town and are in college, we all consider her a dear friend. She genuinely cares about her students and keeps in touch long after lessons end."
My child was shy with singing in the beginning. Molly made him feel comfortable over a period of time and now and i see a visible difference.
He also has interests in songs outside of her syllabus and Molly has been very supportive of his music choices and encouraged him to sing his favorite songs as well !
I would recommend Molly to anyone who is looking for a dedicated music teacher !"
I have known Jamila S. since 2009 when she joined Florida International University as a student in our graduate program in Piano Performance. Jamila displays a keen interest in a variety of music styles and forms, from Baroque to contemporary, including more popular idioms such as Jazz. Her playing shows marked individuality and rich, healthy sound which projects to the end of a concert hall. In her dealings with her colleagues she is friendly, affable and always willing to help. Besides piano performance, Jamila is showing interest in pedagogical activity. I believe her eclectic musical background coupled with her stellar character would help her become an excellent teacher, and it is with this in mind I recommend Jamila to your kind attenstion."
Studies show, time after time, that music lessons in early childhood are essential for creating neural pathways for brain development. They also give children a head start on creativity and self-expression. Music was likely our first language as human beings, and it still provokes a very primal response in us - anybody from anywhere in the world can listen to a song and know what emotion it is trying to convey. If you ask an adult if they took piano lessons as a child, many will say yes. …
