Let's make some music!!!
“Music can change the world because it can change people.” ―Bono
“Where words fail, music speaks.” ―Hans Christian Andersen
Here's the why and how: As an educator, I've had experience teaching both young children and adults in many settings, whether it be in a classroom, small group lesson, or one-on-one. I pride myself on providing lessons that are uniquely individual and foster a students strengths while also building on their weaknesses. The best part about being a music educator is that I get to share my love of music with all of my students. With that said, whether you are a beginner who's interest has been sparked, or you have aspirations of becoming a professional musician I can help you there!
Lessons are catered to each student and are conducted in a supportive environment where students ar
e encouraged to take risks, try new things, make mistakes, and most importantly be themselves.
I value the time I have with my students and expect each student to come prepared to each lesson with an open mind and willingness to work. With music, the best results come to those who put in 100% both during lessons and during individual practice time. This is key in any musical pursuit. Overall, I want lessons to be enjoyable while still maintaining a sense of progress for the student.
Here's a little more about me: In 2005 I made my operatic debut in Italy with Operafestival di Roma in their main stage production of Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro. While in Rome, I was also featured in Pergolesi's Stabat Mater. Over the years I've been featured as a soloist in other concert and oratorio works such as Villa-Lobos's Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5, Rutter's Requiem, and Mozart's Requiem.
Along with my classical training, I've taken on several roles in musicals such as, The King and I, Guys and Dolls, Oklahoma, and The Boyfriend. I am an honored NATS (National Association for the Teachers of Singing) competitor, Peabody Scholarship recipient, and Bland Music Scholarship recipient. Recently, I had the opportunity to work with the Richmond Philharmonic Orchestra on their spring and summer concert series and was asked to perform the National Anthem and God Bless America at Game 2 of the ALDS during one of the MLB's 2014 postseason games (Baltimore Orioles vs. Detroit Tigers). When I'm not singing, you may find me enjoying a run through the neighborhood, or enjoying some time with my cat CJ.
I earned both my undergraduate and graduate degrees form the Peabody Conservatory of Music of the Johns Hopkins University.

Chelsea is a tremendous teacher, with sympathy and patience for my absurd schedule and difficulty reading music.
March 25, 2019
I had a really great time and she explained so much to me that I wasn't really clear on.
February 27, 2019
I needed last minute coaching for an upcoming audition and was feeling unprepared and frazzled. Chelsea easily knew what I needed. She made recommendations, was wonderfully engaging, and her insight and ear highlighted some important tweaks that I would have overlooked in my haste to prepare. After just one session I felt clearer, calmer, and considerably more confident. Bonus: Chelsea is incredibly kind, fun to work with and makes you feel you already know one another. Chelsea has my highest recommendation
In your vocal lessons I will teach you warm-up vocal exercises, how to breathe properly, solfege (singing syllables), how to find your range, and songs of your choice along with my own suggestions.
When I was growing up I thought music was like magic and that only special people with super-human powers could play. I would think to myself, "How are they doing that? I would never be able to play music in a million years!" It wasn't until I was 14 I discovered guitar magazines and a method of reading called guitar tablature that I realized anybody can learn guitar! With determination, patience, and practice I learned as many songs and techniques from my heroes (The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin) as I could. I realized there is so much to learn about music that I could learn something new everyday. This still holds true to this day. I keep digging to find that magic place to which music can take you. It is my goal as a musician and a teacher to help other aspiring musicians (YOU!) find their way to the joys of music. After graduat
ing high school my passion for music kept growing and I decided to go to a school to learn more about it. While attending Moorhead State University of Minnesota I went through a speed boost to gaining knowledge about music. The wonderful teachers of MSUM provided me with direction, encouragement, and plenty of opportunities to play through ensembles. I was in Jazz Guitar Ensemble, Jazz Combos, Jazz Big Band, and Commercial Ensembles. My aspirations are to pass along the information torch that I received while attending MSUM to people who are interested and have the desire to make a sound.I am friendly, patient, and fun to work with. I believe music should be exciting and make you feel good. I teach on an individual basis. Everybody learns at different rates and in different ways. My goal is to find the best way to teach you so that you get the most out of our lessons. There are many streams that lead to the big ocean of music so there are many different ways to learn. Whether you want to learn rock, jazz, bluegrass, or folk I am flexible with teaching you what you want to learn while at the same time providing you with little golden nuggets of information to further your skills through music theory, technique exercises, and how to avoid common pit falls. With enough determination, patience, and practice you too can discover the joys of music and be able to express your individuality in a way you never thought possible. It would be an honor to help you find your own path down the road to musical bliss.
*** Lesson Details *** I am a laid back person with an easy going approach to teaching. Music is meant to be fun! I teach you what you want to learn. I have had experience with playing rock, jazz, bluegrass, and folk. If you are not sure what you want to learn I'll ask you questions about yourself and your interests to determine the best route to go. Within the first few lessons you will learn how to tune your instrument, how to read tablature (TABS for short), and how to read chord charts. If you are interested in learning theory and how to read music I teach out of the Hal Leonard Guitar Method book series. After the first six months, depending on your level and how much you practice, you will be well on your to playing full songs by your favorite artists, have the ability to jam with other musicians, and understand the basics of your instrument. It is my belief that you get out of music what you put into it. There are no short cuts. All of the masters have one thing in common and that is practice. If you are willing to put in the work I am obliged to give you direction.
*** Studio Equipment *** Music stand, amp, instrument cable, picks
*** Travel Equipment *** I can provide an amp and picks. I expect the student to provide an instrument, instrument cable (if using an electric instrument), tuner, metronome, notebook (either tab book or regular notebook),
*** Specialties *** I play an eclectic blend of rock, jazz, folk, and bluegrass. My method of teaching is based on the individual's level and type of learning.
Learning to sing with Steve has been a wonderful experience. He is friendly and welcoming and I left every lesson feeling accomplished. I came to Steve having no experience with vocal training at all and I'm so glad I did! Great teacher. He is patient and happy to teach. Thank you!

Awesome! Made me comfortable when I was so nervous, was flexible with scheduling and very awesome teaching techniques.
As a vocal coach for the Grammy Award-winning Pacific Boychoir Academy and the Sweetwater Music Academy I have taught students of all ages and experience levels. In addition to teaching, I am a classically trained professional vocalist who has sung and recorded around the world in pop, jazz, rock, original and classical music.
I have recorded and performed music for brands and channels such as Old Spice, UPS, Proctor and Gamble, VH1, E! and the Oxygen Network but what I enjoy most is helping students develop and appreciate singing ... no matter where they are at on the journey in a flexible and fun way.
Please message me any questions you may have. I look forward to hearing from you.
I am a professional vocalist who regularly performs with orchestras, rock bands, jazz bands and as a singer/songwriter. I teach beginners to professional touring artists and can break down the seemingly complex vocal techniques in simple to understand concepts and exercises. My focus areas are breath, placement and freedom from tension in order to increase your efficiency, stamina and flexibility between registers and musicality. (See my online tutorials for a quick idea of what it might be like to work with me)
I have a degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Michigan and have worked professionally from Opera to Pop. I started my professional music career at the age of 10, traveling the world with the American Boychoir School in Princeton, NJ. I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where I worked as an instructor and vocal
coach for the Grammy Award Winning Pacific Boychoir. I also sang professionally for ensembles such as the San Francisco Symphony Chorus, Clerestory, American Bach Soloists and San Francisco Pocket Opera.
I am currently a vocal instructor for Sweetwater Music Academy, music director for the Jesters (a theatre ensemble for people with developmental disabilities) and I sing for hospital patients as a Parkview Healing Artist. I have taught grade levels K-8 in private schools so I am accustomed to all age levels.
As a songwriter I have composed and performed music for MTV, VHI, E! and the Oxygen Network, and have acted on commercials for Southern Comfort, Old Spice, & Anthem Blue Cross.
I am also the songwriter and front man for the original regional RootsRock band, Fernando T. & The Wickersham Bros and have established myself as a teaching artist for young audiences through the Carnegie Hall Link Up Concert Series.
I look forward any questions you may have and hope to help you or your child find creative fulfillment from the most unique instrument in the world- your voice!
[PLEASE NOTE: I will be teaching exclusively online from June-December 2017 period and am happy to squeeze in as many in in location lessons you would like before then]
As an instructor Fernando, listens and pays attention to what it is I’m saying and is very good at readying the tone of our class/session and can change things up/move the lesson in a different direction to better help me. Weather I’m just not getting it, or if there seams to be an exercise I get very quickly, he does not waist time in that area. He creates a comfortable space that lets you know it’s ok to do things with your voice that maybe in the past you where nervous to do or even told not to do. This little tid bit right there is why everyone needs to give it a shot, I would highly recommend Fernando!! I give him an A++ Rating.

I had a great first experience working with a voice coach and Fernando. I am learning new ways to engage my voice for public speaking.
Singing has been my passion since the age of 4. The voice is very special - it empowers us to live the lives we desire, communicate with others, and express ourselves. It is my mission to help others discover and develop their voices, thereby freeing them to use it as they choose.
Beyond the functional voice, I teach performance skills, musicianship, music reading, foreign language diction, phonetics, and so much more! I have a Bachelors in Music Education, a Masters in Performance, and a performance resume ranging from jazz to opera.
I love working with singers of all ages and experience levels. I know how to engage with children and adults alike for a productive, enriching musical experience, so whether you are a sings-all-the-time 2nd grader, a recreational karaoke buff, a devoted choral singer, or an operatic baritone, you have a place in my studio.
I'm so happy to meet you! My name is Paige, a California transplant from Texas by way of Tennessee. I've taught since 2007 and enjoy teaching singers of all ages and experience levels.
I have a Bachelors in Music Education with a K-12 certification in Vocal Education, as well as a Masters in Performance. I have a strong musical background, having sung in the Texas All - State Choir, University Interscholastic League, and National Association of Teachers of Singing.
When I am not teaching, I actively perform in the Greater Bay Area, singing jazz, choral music, and opera.
I leave every lesson with some new tidbit as well as confidence that I've learned more about my voice and the song I'm learning.
August 16, 2017
Good knowledge and good exercises! Paige has great experience and ability to connect!
August 14, 2017
Paige is awesome! She helped me find my range and use my voice without straining. I highly recommend Paige Patrick whether you are a professional singer, trying out for a school audition, or just want to feel much more confident in kareoke
As a professional pop/rock singer songwriter and musical theatre performer, I love infusing my teaching with techniques, warm ups, and insights that I've learned over the past few years (and even use myself). I have a BFA in Musical Theatre and have taught beginning piano and voice for the past year. Whether you're interested in singing pop, rock, standards, or Broadway, I will tailor lessons to meet your needs. Shoot me a message if you're interested, and we can set something up!

I'm a vocalist, pianist, and songwriter with a Bachelor's of Fine Arts degree in Musical Theatre, and am currently teaching voice and piano to nearly 20 students, of all ages and backgrounds. My versatility, experience and formal training helps me to make the learning experience easy, stress free and fun. I love to gear lessons towards the specific strengths and goals of each student.
While obtaining my Bachelor's degree, I took regular voice lessons from one of the leading vocal pedagogy experts in the world: Mary Saunders Barton. I also studied various aspects of music and performance, such as the art of auditioning, and music theory. I have spent many years performing in professional, regional musical theater productions, and am happy to work on auditions with my students. Curre
ntly, I play gigs regularly in my local area (Philadelphia) and write and record regularly. My songs have been licensed for national/international TV (E!, MTV, PBS, Netflix, and more).
I typically teach my clients either in their own homes (if within 12 miles of me), or online. I can easily accommodate to teach in my own home as well. I have also had background checks completed for the various schools I teach with, and am happy show them to you upon request.
My daughter enjoyed working with Lia. She was patient, fun and helped build my daughter's confidence when she made mistakes and needed to try again. She was an absolute pleasure to work with!
February 24, 2019
LIa is the right fit for my high school student. My daughter has been taking classic piano lessons since 4 years old. She has been looking for an instructor who will allow her to develop her creative side.
Lia customizes her lessons and has reignited my daughters love of piano.
August 1, 2018
Both of my daughters love to sing. We signed up for lessons so they could learn their favorite pop songs; one of my daughters also took piano. They've learned how to hit notes easier and how to properly warm up; Lia is great at finding fun ways to keep them engaged while also still learning. The combination of piano and voice for my youngest has been really valuable. I highly recommend Lia for your lessons!
As a bass opera singer and professional voice over artist, I am dedicated to creating a healthy and beautiful sound with my own voice and the voices of my students. I will not come into our lessons saying there is a single way to sing. In fact, many genres require a great deal of varying vocal techniques and stylized voices. What I will do is help to lay a foundation in healthy singing so that you feel comfortable singing any genre. We will start by ensuring that your breath and vowel placement feels comfortable and from there move into repertoire of your choosing or some that I recommend based upon your interests. You will leave your tenure with me empowered to continue your passion and career for singing long after your lessons end. Music is meant to be shared. Together, we will help you to share the music and passion that you hold so dear.
Hello, my name is Matthew F. and I am a professional opera singer based out of Philadelphia. As a current roster musician with Philadelphia Opera, I know what it means to perform at some of the highest levels houses in the country. My travels have taken me across the country, singing in over 20 productions in the last three years. Now, I am returning back to Philadelphia to teach full time as I once had. Previously a student teacher at the Masterman School, I have had a true passion for music education for as long as I have been a musician. My students have grown both personally and musically through our tenure together. This is because I offer lessons that not only grow your singing ability but help to enhance your comfort for performance, public speaking, and general engagement in the production of sound. Through our lesson plans, you w
ill even begin to see changes in how you speak as our core focus will be on breath control, vowel placement, and healthy vocalizing so that you may feel comfortable singing any genre of music. While we will focus on classical training, I want to work with you on whatever repertoire you’d like! If you’re preparing for your school’s musical, a great karaoke with friends, or just some fun shower singing, I will get you there.
I just started with Matt today! He seems great, and I'm looking forward to continuing our lessons!
August 4, 2019
Matthew has been excellent! He took the time to get to know my goals and really understands what I’m looking for. After just a few lessons, I’ve learned a lot about opera/classical singing from the ground up and have already developed a much deeper appreciation for singers. I can’t recommend Matthew highly enough.
August 4, 2019
Great teacher! Not only has a immense amount of technical knowledge, but has really helped me come out of my shell and let my voice loose. Look forward to continuing lessons!
Lessons will consist of a warm up and repertoire work! I am a firm believer of a strong foundation for singing, meaning creating a good breath support system, working on consistency in the voice, and doing what makes each singer comfortable. I want everyone to truly enjoy what they sing, and so choosing repertoire will be a very collaborative process! My main goal is for growth in the singer, as a person and as a musician. For more information, give me a call, shoot me an email, or even a text. I look forward to working with you!
Hi! My name is Kate! I am a vocal performance major at Baylor University. In high school, I was a member of the all state choir three times, and I was awarded 1-Superior Solos at state solo and ensemble. Post-high school, I’ve won various awards, such as placing at the NATS conference. I am a member of the Baylor Opera Theater department as well as Chamber Singers and the A Cappella Choir. I am very passionate about what I do and I encourage an attitude of optimism, no matter what the outcome! As for my personal life, I am from Denton (north Texas) and live in Waco currently. I have two sisters and a brother in Denton as well as 4 dogs! My house was always a loud one so I’m used to a little chaos (and controlling it). I’m really easygoing and encouraging. I’m also a huge history nerd and am working on a minor in history. I know a lot abou
t music theory and have some basic piano skills if you’re ever interested in learning any of that! Overall, I’m here to help and encourage!
Classical singers, listen up! Here's a resource you absolutely shouldn't miss, reviewed by voice teacher Molly R...
If you teach classical voice, you are probably aware that one of the biggest challenges is accompaniment! We can fake our way through standards and simpler Disney tunes for our other students, but this is not usually the case when it comes to Mozart or Verdi.
And if you are a classical soloist, it’s every bit as frustrating. It can get very costly to hire an acc …
