About Robert

Creativity, skill and love of music are the key elements that I work to encourage in every student. Over the years my teaching has evolved and I find it gratifying to take people far beyond their own expectations while helping them achieve their goals. I believe everyone is musical and just needs the right key to tap into their own creativity. For beginners it's important to study with an excellent teacher. Setting a solid and creative foundation makes all the difference! For advanced players studying with a great artist takes you greater artistry. Weekly private lessons focus on technical skills in either piano, voice (or a combination of both) and a strong musical foundation. Theory and Ear Training are fundamentals that are embedded in this approach to developing a complete ...

Learned so much in my first lesson

Diane taught me so much in a just a few lessons. She was very clear and had a great teaching personality. I would recommend any student, beginner-advanced to let Diane help you become a great violin player.

She's a great teacher

Diane has been teaching me the violin for almost four years. As her student I've had the opportunity to play at places such as Strathmore and the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center. She teaches me both traditional and Suzuki methods, so there's a lot of flexibility concerning learning techniques.

I have only received 3 lessons so far and all have been a wonderful experience. I am not a professional singer nor have I ever had any lessons singing. I simply just want to learn 1 song to sing to my future husband. OJ has made every lesson fun while I am learning and I know in time I will reach my goal.

Fun, Easy to Work with

This teacher has an easy, fun loving spirit. I have learned important tips to improve my singing, such as, to name a few, where to place my tongue, the importance of enunciation, and scaling from high to low notes without breaking. I would recommend him as a teacher.

Great Teacher

Throughout my life, I have been singing in Gospel choirs and for years, I have been an alto. After meeting with OJ, he helped me find my voice. He was able to determine my vocal range and I found out that I was never an alto, but a lyric soprano. I was so shocked, but excited at the same time. I thought that was amazing because he helped me discover my true vocal range. OJ is knowledgeable, patient, and fun to work with.

About Aleksis

My name is Aleksis B., but many of my students know me as Mr. B. I am a professional instructor and performing musician who combines a love of music with a desire to help others who want to achieve their highest musical potential. I try to make that passion show in everything I do. My education includes classical voice training with Michele Howard Hansen, an opera singer that often performs at the Kennedy Center. I studied piano with Geoffrey Chappell, who writes for Jazz Times. I also received compositional training on multiple instruments from Stanley Cowell, who recorded and performed with legends like Miles Davis. I have been performing professionally since 1992. I studied education in college and did my student teaching in a music class at Goshen Elementary School in ...

Aleksis has been the best teacher (in any subject) that I've ever had! He's very calm and patient, but also stays focused on teaching. Every time I have a question he has a good answer, proving to me that he is very knowledgeable.

Most importantly the results of his instruction have been excellent. I've made more progress under his tutelage in two months than I've made over a couple of years on my own.

An excellent teacher and very affable, I can only think of good things to write about Mr. Aleksis!

Learning at my age!

I started singing backup vocals in a band and at the age of 57 it's not easy. Alexis has been great. He is very patient, kind and encouraging. I enjoy our lessons and feel he is getting the best of my abilities.

Nathan R. Windsor Mill, MD

About Nathan

I have been teaching private lessons for close to 10 years and have been an active performer for even longer, playing in all different types of groups, from rock bands and jazz groups to orchestras and brass bands. I studied music at Frostburg State University (Bachelors) and the Peabody Conservatory (Masters). I can teach just about any age and skill level and cover anything you are interested in learning; whether its a certain style, genre, technique or song. *** Lesson Details *** My lessons are laid back, with a focus on perfecting the basics. Most students work out of a method book appropriate to their skill level. Aside from that we'll also spend time learning songs and pieces of the students choice. With the right amount of effort, you'll know your way around your instrument

Yulia is a very professional, capable, and patient teacher, who produces results. She has a deep knowledge of the fundamentals of singing and what is takes to build a solid foundation of a vocal technique. Furthermore, she is able to demonstrate and reinforce important points with her own voice and that helps a lot. I definitely recommend Yulia as a voice teacher!!
