About Blake
Hi, my name is Blake. I teach guitar, piano, and singing online and at my Lowell, Indiana studio.

I have been a professional musician - session musician and teacher for 26 years. I was formally trained at the American Conservatory of Music and the Chicago Musical College, both located in Chicago. I won the Presidential Scholarship in Classical Guitar Performance at the American Conservatory of Music and another full-ride scholarship in Classical Guitar Performance to attend the Chicago Musical College.

My primary Classical Guitar Instructor at both institutions was Paul Henry. I also studied Rock Guitar with Dave Uhrich while attending both institutions and privately studied Jazz Guitar with Scott Reed. I studied voice with Audrey Evans at the American Conservatory of Music and Robert Long at the Chicago Musical College.

I h
ave participated in Classical Guitar Master Classes with:
• Hubert Kappel
• Dale Kavanagh
• Eleftheria Kotzia
• Bruce Holzman
• Stephen Aron
• Raphaella Smits
• Richard Provost
• Nicholas Goluses
• William Buonocore.

*** Lesson Details ***

I design lessons individually according to the needs and "wants" of each student. I specialize in developing and correcting technique to improve the student's overall skill. Students that dedicate the time and effort each week to practicing see rapid and sustained results.

However, if you have a busy life and merely want to learn guitar for personal enjoyment, I will design your lessons to develop your skill at a pace that works for you, which can fluctuate according to your schedule.

***Young & Special Needs Students***

I currently teach children as young as 13 years old and adults of any age. When teaching younger children and individuals with special needs, it is significantly beneficial for parents to attend each lesson - I have parent seating available. When parents attend lessons, the parent can assist the younger student while practicing during the week at home.

In my experience, the overall musical development and progress of younger students improve at an increased rate and thoroughness when parents are involved.

***Thoughts on Musical Talent***

Musical talent is a gift. However, correct technique is not easily acquired without proper instruction. Your skill level eventually plateaus, and your ability to learn and perform more complicated music is inhibited unless you have a solid foundation in music theory as it applies to your instrument(s) as well as proper technique.

I can help you build this solid foundation and will guide you through the development of musical skills; correcting flaws in technique is my specialty.

About Monica
If you want to learn to LOVE performing, get in touch with me! I grew up doing youth theatre in the South Bay, I'm a graduate of the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts (Vocal Major), as well as the Hartt School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, where I got my BFA in Musical Theatre, and performing is truly in my blood!
I believe that more than anything, music should be about having fun and making your soul happy. And I believe lessons should be fun as well! Of course we'll get into theory, healthy & sustainable singing technique, and performance & audition prep, but it's more about throwing spaghetti at the wall and seeing what your particular style is.
The same goes for my acting lessons, of course. I will work diligently to find material that fits you personally, and then we will work it until it becomes as natural as your own t
houghts.
I can also help with college auditions for musical theatre programs, seeing as I auditioned for 25 college myself before settling on Hartt.
If any of the above interests you, send me a quick question and we'll work out a time that works for both of us! Have a great day!!

Monica offers very insightful coaching for both acting and singing. She gets to the heart of the story and helps me find ways to bring that to life. She is very kind in her coaching and I leave her lesson with more confidence in my ability to portray that character. Great for getting ready for an audition.

Over the last 15 months I have taken over 50 lessons with Natasha. As an adult re-leaning piano I was a little nervous but immediately she made me feel comfortable, utilizing my previous experiences and my progression to challenge me continuously. She is so patient and will keep motivating you to reach your goal, whatever it may be. Natasha also writes everything down which is really helpful for review and shows her true knowledge of music theory and application. I highly recommend her as a piano teacher. I am the better for it!

About Andrew
Born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska I have played the piano since the age of 4. My parents used to tell me that I could stop and start whatever activities I wanted to whether that be playing baseball or participating in karate. The only thing I was not allowed to quit was playing the piano. At first I was not very good, I was not some musical prodigy, in fact some might say I was bad. I didn't like to practice, I just wanted to be able to play. Unfortunately that's not how learning an instrument works. It was not until middle school that I began to appreciate that my parents had made me play the piano because after 6 years I started to improve. This of course was because I started to enjoy what I was doing, and I started practicing more and more.

Eventually I made my way to becoming a singer and a composer but that's a whole other stor
y. I graduated from New York University Tisch School of the Arts with a degree in Musical Theater. While there I was exposed to all different genres and became a respected vocal coach amongst my peers and alumni. I also successfully music directed several shows both at NYU and a children's theater in upstate New York. It is a gift like no other to be able to play any instrument and I am overjoyed to share that gift with all of my students past, present, and future.
