Studied Clarinet at Gulf Coast College in Panama City, Florida and studied privately with Richard Potter, former Principle clarinetist with the Altoona Symphony and Charles Frahm, former clarinetist with the Indianapolis Symphony.

About Randall
My love of music and musical talent was discovered when I was just five years old. An uncle gave me a plastic recorder and, without lessons or help from anyone, I was playing melodies within days. Soon after I started taking private lessons on Saxophone and Clarinet.
I played my first paying job at age 14.
When I was 15, my private instructor, asked me if I would be interested in teaching. He put me on the County list of private instructors and and soon I had my own thriving studio of Sax and Clarinet students. From that time on, I have almost continuously been involved in music education.
Though I had listened to the rock "guitar gods" of the 60's I never became interested the guitar until, at the age of 15, I first heard Maestro Andres Segovia through his televised master classes. About the same time, I was amazed by the chord
melody genius of jazz artists like George Van Eps, Joe Pass, and Bucky Pizzarelli. It was then I realized that the guitar could be an "orchestra."
In the small town where I grew up, there were no guitar teachers so I studied with outstanding Guitarist Ed McGuire. Later, I studied formally with several renowned professors of guitar, including Bruce Holzman at FSU and Randy Reed, a professor at Duke University in Durham North Carolina.
I have also performed in Master Classes for Classical Guitarists Atigoni Goni and Dimitri Diatchenko.
Before making North Florida my home, I toured and played throughout the Northeast, Midwest and Southeast in a variety of venues and styles from Rock to Jazz to R&B.
Even after settling down I have stayed active in the music business, playing and teaching. I continue to work regularly performing solo, or in ensembles throughout Florida from Tallahassee to Jacksonville.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am a laid back teacher who prefers to motivate my students by instilling my love of, and enthusiasm for, music in them rather than using any kind of "scare" tactics. I had a very few "knuckle rapper" style teachers over the years and found them to be very unmotivating.
A large percentage of the progress a student makes happens between the lessons. The more they practice, the faster they improve.
I also believe in building a solid foundation that my students can build upon. A good teacher teaches a student how to teach themselves.
On guitar, I encourage, but don't insist on, my students learning to read music. Some styles of guitar do not require it, but I do mention the gigs I have gotten over the years because I could read.
On all instruments, I am a big believer in great technique, musicianship and improvisational skills.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Studio is in back of the house as an addition. It has its own separate entrance and is approx 160 sq feet. Well lit and with heat and air.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I will provide a music stand if needed. Students must have their own instrument. They will need to get their own books, though I do provide much supplemental material.

*** Specialties ***
Jazz, Classical, Blues, Flamenco

Music is an extremely multifaceted skill and every student learns in a completely different way. Some students will gravitate towards certain aspects of music more then others. For me, it is all about favoring these aspects in order for the student to get the most creative and intellectual growth. I am a well-versed professional musician and have experience in many genres from classical to more popular styles. I teach strong foundations in note reading, music theory, ear training, sight reading, technique, improvisation and more. My lessons are always encouraging no matter what level or pace the student is at. Send me a message, I look forward to working with you!

Music has many aspects and certain students gravitate towards different aspects then others. I focus on these specific aspects so my students get the most creative and intellect

The clarinet is an incredibly expressive instrument, but only if you can cover the holes! I specialize in helping students make music with this incredibly capable instrument!

About Joshua
I am a tutor who earned a music teaching degree and didn't want to be a school teacher. I worked professional jobs in retail and tech sales and have come back to teaching.

Whatever subject or instrument I teach, I always make sure to work with the student first. I enjoy helping learners have new aha moments.

The majority of my students take guitar, bass guitar, or Spanish lessons, though I am an educator and help my students learn other skills and knowledge sets too.

I went to Ohio State University for college, earned a BA in Music Education, and graduated Kum Laude. I also spent 4 years in the Ohio State University Marching Band, partially to rehab a brain injury.

Through my healing journey, I've developed patience, insight, and understanding for my students' learning processes.

Practice is a must in order to develop the n
ecessary skills that demonstrate learning.

I'm excited to help you incorporate new skills into your life!

In search of helping our 10 year old son build some self-confidence we sought out clarinet lessons this summer. He started playing in school last year, and it was something our reluctant son liked "enough" to want to build up some competency. Joshua has been amazing! He finds just the right amount of challenge to encourage my son to practice, but not get discouraged. My son looks forward to his lesson each week and told me that he isn't even sure he wants to switch to saxophone next year because he is having so much fun playing the clarinet. Joshua is amazing with children, and has spent time getting to know our kiddo and find out what will work best for him. Patient, calm, and inspiring--very talented instructor.

I whole-heartedly recommend Joshua for anyone of any age and any skill level who wants to enrich their life learning guitar. I appreciate the fact that he makes the time and has the patience to adapt to my needs. Joshua is flexible in scheduling - especially for those unforeseen incidents - which is appreciated.

Being an adult beginner with music lessons, Joshua eases my frustration on immediately wanting to play perfect notes and chords. I look forward to continuing lessons.

The clarinet has many uses in band, jazz, or orchestra. Knowing what to expect is part of your professional and poised life in music.

About Diane
I continue to learn and improve my teaching by attending workshops, conferences, and be involved in music teacher groups. These are both in person, social media, and podcasts. I believe it is important to play your instrument if you teach it. My BM degree from UW-Stevens Point taught me how music is important in so many parts of life. My family of 6, includes 3 sons and 1 daughter. My youngest is a sophomore at Thomas Jefferson.

I ask that you have a well maintained instrument before signing up for lessons. ie. an acoustic piano or keyboard that has minimum 76 keys, 88 is PREFERABLE, keys need to be weighted/touch sensitive. You can ask me where are apropriate places to rent or buy a piano.

I have some supplies, materials, access to music website and books which you would then reimburse me. It is non-refundable, You may g
et lesson books from and reimburse me for costs, no tax.

I have been teaching for the past 6 years, and love working with all different students. My former students have been selected to be in the Colorado All-State Honor Band and have been accepted to their top choice colleges for music performance. In 2016, I attended the Aspen Summer Music Festival, where I learned a great deal about clarinet and teaching. My specialty is pinpointing bad habits and working towards effortless, high-quality sound and technique.

About Josh
I am an avid clarinetist, energetic performer and enthusiastic teacher. My dream career is to be a soloist like Martin Frost, to play in an orchestra, or compose and perform my music.
My passion for teaching is similar to my passion for performing, and I have experience teaching privately and in front of large groups, as a staff member for a high school marching band.

Josh has been a fantastic Instructor for my middle school age son. He worked closely with him on several pieces that were required to audition at two summer music camps helping him to move from near last position the year before to the top of the class. His improvements were formally recognized with an award at the end of 7th grade and I think Josh was a large part of that improvement. We were saddened to hear that Josh would be leaving the Denver area but wish him the best of success in his new ventures. Josh is an excellent instructor and we would certainly work with him again in the future.

I love to teach students of any level from beginner to advanced. If you are a beginner, in the first few lessons you will learn how to put the clarinet together, how to put the reed on the mouthpiece, and be able to play a simple melody. I like to use the Klose Method book, and simple solos including music from film scores like Star Wars. Advanced players can work on clarinet technique and repertoire including orchestral excerpts and major solo literature. I look forward to meeting you!

About William
With the clarinet, I have both enthusiasm and experience. I love to play the clarinet and love to see my students fulfill all of their potential. I have enjoyed being a student of the clarinet myself since I was 9 years old, and now have learned lots of things that I want to share.

I played clarinet in the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra for 40 years, retiring in August of 2015. I play actively now, as well, and the clarinet is still one of the most important things in the world to me.

My teaching method is to help the student absorb good playing habits at a pace that feels right to them. There is plenty of time to learn, and the process is as important as the learning itself. Sometimes slower is better. I want to be the ally that can support the student, and eliminate the obstacles they may run across in both music and instrumenta
l skill.

You can learn to play anything on the clarinet if you know the right practice methods! I've been playing clarinet for 25 years, and I earned a bachelor's degree in music 14 years ago under a clarinet teacher taught by the master Mike Guerra. I want you to learn the proper technique, understand what it means to make music, excel in reading music, and enjoy the ability to play by ear. All of these are important to the well-rounded musician.

About Jason
I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Pensacola Christian College in 2003. While there, I studied under a teacher who was a student of Mike Guerra, widely recognized in his generation as one of the greatest technique instructors on clarinet and saxophone.

After graduation, I went on to teach private lessons for two years on the high school and college level, after which I took a position at a church as music director. I taught lessons, directed choirs, and organized music performances for twelve years before moving to Washington. I'm now in my first year of specific focus on private instruction.

I've learned that proper technique, sight reading, playing by ear, and listening to great artists are all critical to becoming a well-rounded musician. I would love to help you find the same love for music and the clarinet that I've
found!

A little about me: I've been happily married since 2003, and I have four children 12 and under. I love a large variety of music and I love the outdoors.

I did not take private lesson from Jason, but was in the church choir that he directed. As a director he was excellent. He was very easy to follow. Our choir improved tremendously under his direction. His ear for music is amazing. He can pick out the parts of a piece of music that need work and works with the singers to get the part right. I know some of the students he taught at our church and they always talked highly of him and how easy it was to work with him. I have also heard him play the clarinet and the clari-sax and the saxophone. He is a phenomenal performer. I would have my child take lessons from him anytime.
