I am an avid clarinetist, energetic performer and enthusiastic teacher. My dream career is to be a soloist like Martin Frost, to play in an orchestra, or compose and perform my music.
My passion for teaching is similar to my passion for performing, and I have experience teaching privately since 2013 and in front of large groups, as a staff member for a high school marching band.
My teaching style is all about fundamentals as I try and break down the things you need to know about playing into easy to understand fundamentals that can be applied to all future playing.

Josh is a wonderful clarinet teacher. He's patient, instructive, and he gives positive and constructive feedbacks. I am an adult beginner on the clarinet and I feel like I've improved a lot during the first three lessons with Josh.

We have had ongoing lessons with Josh for about a year and we are still very pleased. Easy-going demeanor, very positive with his feedback yet still gets his point across when my son is not doing something correctly. He is teaching him not just how to play the music but also how to improve his style and structure of play. We picked a good one!

Josh did a great job working with my 12 yr old son. The Takelessons website was not allowing us to log on, so Josh got us set up on Facebook and the lesson was very helpful and focussed.

Josh does a great job taking the music apart and really explaining to my 11 year old son where he needs improvement in a diplomatic way. He has great rapport with him. Highly recommend him!

Another fantastic lesson with Josh. He noted that my son tends to play his notes in a more "jazz" style which is great because I was hoping he would join jazz band in middle school! He is always positive and provides very constructive feedback to my 11 year old son to help him improve his playing. We are very pleased! (and my son is very comfortable with his teaching style... Love his tips and suggestions and his help with improving on songs he is playing for school.)

Very approachable, explains things clearly, friendly, and helped my son (very beginner) work on notes w/o squeaks, scales and other great tips to help him progress. Looking forward to our next lesson!

Josh is a great teacher, and I highly recommend him as an instructor for both adults and youth. I took clarinet lessons many years ago as an elementary school student. I have long had an interest in returning to the instrument, so I recently signed up for a series of lessons with Josh. Although it had been several decades since I first played the clarinet, Josh helped me get comfortable with the instrument again and provided terrific instruction on all aspects of the clarinet and clarinet performance.

Josh has been a fantastic Instructor for my middle school age son. He worked closely with him on several pieces that were required to audition at two summer music camps helping him to move from near last position the year before to the top of the class. His improvements were formally recognized with an award at the end of 7th grade and I think Josh was a large part of that improvement. We were saddened to hear that Josh would be leaving the Denver area but wish him the best of success in his new ventures. Josh is an excellent instructor and we would certainly work with him again in the future.

He was on time and the lesson went very well. My daughter was comfortable with him and is looking forward to the next lesson.
