With the clarinet, I have both enthusiasm and experience. I love to play the clarinet and love to see my students fulfill all of their potential. I have enjoyed being a student of the clarinet myself since I was 9 years old, and now have learned lots of things that I want to share.
I played clarinet in the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra for 40 years, retiring in August of 2015. I play actively now, as well, and the clarinet is still one of the most important things in the world to me.
My teaching method is to help the student absorb good playing habits at a pace that feels right to them. There is plenty of time to learn, and the process is as important as the learning itself. Sometimes slower is better. I want to be the ally that can support the student, and eliminate the obstacles they may run across in both music and instrumental skill.
