Learn the clarinet from a 30-year player.
I've been playing clarinet for 30 years and teaching for about 20. For my beginning students I like the Essential Elements series as well as the Klose method.
About Lisa C.

I have been a music teacher and private lesson instructor for the past 20 years. I have a bachelor of science degree in Music Education and hold a teaching certificate for all-level Music Education. In my private studio I have taught students from 3-70 and have enjoyed them all! In addition to teaching music I also serve as the Music Minister for my church where I am background checked annually. Students coming to me can expect a tremendous amount of experience as well as a committed, honest and caring teacher. *** Lesson Details *** For beginning piano students at the pre-reading level (ages 3-6ish) I like to use the Faber "My First Piano Adventure" series. I love that this series enforces solid technique in a fun, child-friendly way. For older beginners and players with some piano I like the Alfred series, supplemented, of course, with songs/styles of music that interest the student. Guitar: I've found that guitar method books are nearly as diverse as the guitarists that play them! That being said, I typically start with the Essential Elements for guitar for a solid introduction to music reading and a touch of theory. Depending on the style of play the guitarist is interested in I move on from there. Mel Bays Classical method is always a solid choice as is the Christopher Parkening Guitar method. I also have a few tab oriented books and some rock/blues oriented books. For clarinet and oboe students I like to compliment what their band/orchestra director is using when possible. I also love the Klose method for clarinet. The Rubank is also a tried and true book I use. I've had a lot of success with these books. Of course the best method books are for naught without adequate practice time! When theory and technique work get too dry it's always fun to throw in some fun selections to compliment the "work." Voice students are a bit different in that I don't use a specific method to instruct. I have many books that I draw from when teaching voice due to the unique nature of the individual. Depending on the style of music, from classical to jazz/pop, I have music that will teach proper breath support, vowel placement and tone. *** Studio Equipment *** Home studio: converted dining room with 3 guitars, young percussion instruments, upright piano and f/w keyboard. Seating available for parents. Music ministry at First Christian Church in Terrell. Access to choir room with upright piano. Seating available for parents. *** Specialties *** Degree in all-level music education with specialty in voice.

Mrs. Lisa is a fantastic sewing teacher. She really helped my 11 year old learn to sew better and become more confident in her sewing. I highly recommend her.

My daughter loves Lisa as a guitar teacher. She has been working with Lisa since January of 2021. My daughter who is 16 years says this about Lisa, "she is nice, understanding, she is always encouraging me to do my best in and outside of lesson time, she has great teaching methods when it comes to approaching her students, she listens to my opinions and thoughts and is open minded when it comes to what we do during my lesson time. As a parent I have been very happy with my daughters progress and she always looks forward to her lesson. We live in Virginia and last summer we took a trip to Texas, and made a detour on our way home so we could meet her in person. Lisa made time to meet us and it was a real treat. We highly recommend Lisa.

Lisa was wonderful. Very patient, detailed explanations, and went above and beyond. I’ve felt intimidated by sewing and even the process of setting up my machine but she was able to illuminate that process. This lesson was worth every penny and I’m looking forward to the next one.
