I am a professional clarinetist with experience in classical, contemporary, and jazz music. I have studied clarinet for 12 years and recently graduated from New York University with a Bachelors of Music and a concentration in clarinet performance. I am currently pursuing a Masters of Music Performance, concentrating on clarinet performance, at McGill University. I have 3 years teaching experience and enjoy teaching clarinet students of all different ages and experience levels. I believe it is my duty to pass along a love for music to all students I encounter.
I tailor my lesson plans for each individual student, ensuring that students improve week to week. An interest and love for music is most important in studying clarinet. I find ways to show students how to have fun with their instruments and aim to help students become their own best teachers. I believe tone and technique are equally important for clarinetists. I have students prepare scales and etudes for technique and start students with long-tone exercises to begin building the fundamentals to develop tone. I promise to help students discover the fun in music, while building their repertoire and skill.
Music has enriched every aspect of my life and I know it can do the same to yours! I look forward to teaching you and helping you to become a better musician!
In this position, I maintain all equipment for NYU's varsity teams.
As a programming fellow, I specialized in educational outreach. I helped develop programs introducing young students to various genres of music and organized presentations in local schools.
In this position I assisted in group activities by helping students maintain focus and assisting students with percussive instruments. I lead small activities such as singing and song-building.
This was my first clarinet lesson for ten years, and I couldn't have asked for a better person to accompany me. Elia was friendly, enthusiastic, and quick to figure out what I need and understand what I want to achieve. I look forward to having a lot of fun rediscovering the clarinet in our subsequent lessons.+ Read More
