Through the foundation I've gained by the influences of Mel Bay, Hal Leonard, and Suzuki musical instruction methods, I compile my own teaching materials. Using personally constructed guitar lessons, I demonstrate, instruct, and guide the student based on my assessment of their individual needs, skill level, and progress. Lessons are formulated in Modules, and advancement through them is based on the student's personal aptitude, skill level, and practice commitment. Learning is accomplished by ear as well as through essential methods of musical notation (tablature, 5-line staff, rhythmic comprehension). Students are trained to perform written music as well as to write and express the music within themselves.
I'm an encouraging and motivating guitar teacher with a casual relaxed approach. Teaching new guitarists is very rewarding to me. To see the light come on and watch a student perform a song, express themselves musically, and create their own composition is an awesome experience.

About Scott

The key to learning guitar......is finding the right instructor! I am an encouraging, effective guitar instructor and an experienced performing musician, offering in-person beginner through intermediate guitar instruction in my home and on line. It is very rewarding to me to help others alon

I'm enjoying my lessons with Scott. He has taught me a lot. He makes playing and learning exciting. I can't wait for my next lesson.

I started with Scott as a newbie and he has definitely helped me grow as a guitarist. He takes time and makes things easier to learn. As complicated learning can be, he simplifies it and breaks it down. When I feel like I’m not progressing he always shows me how I am. His modules are easy to follow. His teaching style is compatible with all types of learners whether you are visual, hands on or a listener. It’s not just business with him. He’s always available for questions after or between lessons. He’s knowledgeable in equipment so don’t hesitate to ask for some advice on what to buy. He’s affordable and lesson times are flexible. I highly recommend him for all ages and learning needs.

Scott has been a great help to me, filling in the gaps and teaching exactly what I request: techniques, specific songs, and lesson times at work for me. He communicates well and follows up after each lesson with emails.

Even though these are clarinet lessons you'll be taking, I would be using the clarinet as a tool to bring you into the beautiful world of music. That means that other than technical things such as sound and fingerings, we'd be talking about what makes the music that you're playing great and how to best convey it in your playing. Come study with a professional performing clarinetist with extensive teaching experience in all ages and levels. Whatever music style you're into (classical/jazz/klezmer...), I'd be happy to focus on.

About Moran

Hi! I'm a Juilliard graduate clarinetist (BM, MM, AD), currently on the Juilliard Pre College Division faculty [chamber music] as well as at Vassar College (teaching clarinet). I perform extensively as a soloist, recitalist and chamber musician. Although I'm mostly classically trained, I play jazz

Perhaps the best teacher I’ve ever had—in any discipline, at any age. When I first began two years ago, I couldn’t read a note of music and had never played any instrument. Since then, thanks to Moran’s patience and guidance, I can play with confidence at a level I never imagined. Wonderful, kind, yet demanding teacher who enjoys teaching and takes great pride in the progress of her students

A wonderful clarinetist, musician, and teacher! She explains and demonstrates the physical and musical aspects of clarinet-playing clearly so that you can build a solid foundation and progress rapidly. Very highly recommended!

Our son first time playing bassoon. Base on my son experience, he find Joshua to be very nice, patients, and explains a lot of information. It help him understand about the instrument and the sound when he play. He do have a sense of humor which help my son to have fun and be more comfortable. He also teaches other instruments, too. Highly recommended to everyone!!!!

"We just had our first lesson and it couldn't have gone better. I have an 8 year old son with pretty severe ADD and Ryan could not have been more patient and kind with him, following him from one room to the next while teaching him. It's now three hours after the lesson and he has not put the clarinet down. He has been practicing all 6 notes that Ryan taught him. 😬"

"I'm on my third lesson and really enjoying them. Victoria and I have a great rapport and the lessons are filled with learning, laughter (mostly because I can laugh easily at my mistakes, not HER laughing at me!!), and they are so fun! I'm doing super well because she is able to tailor her teaching style to my learning style. I can't say enough how much this helps. Looking forward to the rest of my lessons!"

"Bill helped me get back on track with the clarinet when I returned to playing as an adult, years after I'd played as a kid. He met where I was and helped me get to where I wanted to go--playing jazz. Besides being a good and patient teacher, he had a lot of innovative ideas for music selection, accompaniment options, and practice techniques. I recommend him to students of any age."
