Our son first time playing bassoon. Base on my son experience, he find Joshua to be very nice, patients, and explains a lot of information. It help him understand about the instrument and the sound when he play. He do have a sense of humor which help my son to have fun and be more comfortable. He also teaches other instruments, too. Highly recommended to everyone!!!!

I teach clarinet lessons at any skill level, tailoring the curriculum to each student. A recent conservatory grad, I am enthusiastic about learning how to play and appreciate music. My lessons incorporate non-playing techniques to build aural skills and a sense of musicality, like focused listening and singing, as well as more traditional means of building strong fundamental technique. Playing clarinet is so much fun, and I hope to bring the same joy I get from playing to my teaching!

About Julia

I am a freelance clarinetist and teacher based in the Chicago Area, and I have just finished my undergrad, completing a dual degree program in clarinet performance (BM) and environmental science (BA) at Northwestern University. I try to meet each student where they are in terms of how they are pr

"Great Teacher

I have been taking lessons with Tony since 2009 and I have seen nothing but improvement in the way I play. I saw my biggest improvements when I would audition for the regional band. My score increased each year. I went from 560 my first year to 915 out of 1000 my last. You will not be disappointing when you will take lessons with him. You will continue to grow if you follow his lessons."

"As a language teacher, I was looking for a clarinet/saxophone instructor with excellent communication skills and the ability to teach musical technique in an empathetic way. I was lucky to find Masaru Koga in Cupertino, California.

I enjoyed weekly lessons for about three years and really reached the point where I was constantly improving my clarinet mastery and getting closer to my performance goals. At one point, I became so enthusiastic, I also began saxophone lessons with Masaru!

I looked froward to meeting him for my weekly lessons and felt he gave more than 100% in patience, encouragement, and musical technique. He has a very warm, giving personality and when we were together, I made great progress and was very motivated to study and practice on my own.

I enthusiastically recommend Masaru Koga to other music students and wish I could be his student again!"
