Flute Lessons in Quinton. Amazing Teachers.

I have been playing flute for over 20 years! I work with student interest to develop technique, musicality and continued engagement. Each lesson is tailored to fit the needs of the student. I have experience working with students of all ages and abilities including special needs.

I was trained on flute while studying jazz saxophone in college. Most of my applied experience with flute is performing solos. I will show you how to be a soloist whether you want to learn how to improvise or compete in solo competitions.

Flute was my secondary in college. Just like saxophone and piano I teach flute up to advance (before college) level. I teach the required pieces as well as songs you enjoy. Classical is my speciality on flute although i do play jazz as well on flute.

While clarinet is my main instrument, I am equally comfortable teaching beginner flute to students of all ages. I have found that many of the same principals and techniques of clarinet apply when teaching flute.

Music lessons should be fun, encouraging and full of music that you love. They are an opportunity to learn something new, show your improvement, and receive correction, encouragement and praise. Students and instructors should play together frequently throughout and the time should be balanced with theory, technique and exercises, sight-reading, and performance and seasoned with introductions to a variety of music and styles. I like to encourage students to play because they love to play and to find the music that is an integral part of their soul, then to share that with others through performance. I have been playing various woodwind instruments for almost my entire life. I focus on tone, intonation (staying in tune), and the confidence needed to be a strong melodic player.
