About Gabriel

I view my role as an educator to be bigger than simply training a performer. I believe in creating a complete musician--one who thinks deeply about music. I accomplish this by working on, yes, the technical aspects of playing an instrument, but also through constant listening, ear-training, theory

Each lesson will focus on the fundamentals of flute playing (breathing, posture, tone color, technique, and articulation). We also delve into the theory and history behind the music they study. Depending on the level of the student, each of these aspects are adhered to on a different level. As I have found the majority of flute development happens during their individual practice at home, I also focus time on the art of practicing, that way the student can develop this essential habit.

About Alessandra

Hello! Alessandra here, and I am looking forward to teaching you. Having 10 years teaching experience, you could say that education is my forte (as is music). Alessandra is one of the most empathetic and patient people I know, qualities many teachers waver on. Additionally, she has great experience both teaching and preforming. She is a very well-rounded person that inspires her students and makes them feel at home. I would strongly recommend her to anyone!

Alessandra has helped develop and strengthen my love and passion for the flute. She has extended my knowledge and ability which has encouraged me to pursue a career in music. She has always been willing to help, going above and beyond in assisting me to achieve my best results for performances and examinations. Alessandra always made her lessons productive and enjoyable.
Sruthi
Alessandra is a very patient and a lovely teacher, who understands her students' learning styles and needs, and customises their lessons accordingly. I am very grateful for having had her as my flute teacher (coming from a background with zero knowledge of music). I would definitely recommend her for a teacher. I can assure that you can't go wrong in choosing her as your music teacher. :)

4 years of experience teaching elementary-high school age beginner/intermediate students. I welcome students of all ages! In teaching, my first goal is to nurture a love for music in students and guide them in learning to enjoy the process of creating music. I try to cater to a student's specific needs and interests in making learning flute a fun, rewarding experience. On a more technical level, I aim to equip students with the skills they need to improve and become their own best teachers: particularly in terms of practice techniques, warm-ups/exercises, etc.

I am a passionate musician and educator. I have worked for many years as a private flute instructor on both the modern and baroque flute, gaining experience teaching many age and skill levels. Lessons are tailored to the individual needs and goals of the student, with an emphasis on developing tone, technique, and breathing skills. Students will also be encouraged to think about the music that they play. As a musician, I developed an interest in the field of Historical Performance over the course of my undergraduate degree. In this field, one not only studies the music of past periods, but studies its relevance to the social, political, and cultural circumstances of its time. I believe this puts me in a unique position as a music educator, as I understand the importance of teaching students to connect musical works to their historical contexts. This is a skill that will provide them with a richer understanding of all types of music, including both classical and popular, and give them ...

Dr. Masiello has great patience for a beginning adult. He was able to bring me up to a level where I was able to play with my local community band and not feel embarrassed. He pays attention to details that others would miss. I recommend him without any reservations."

"Julie has honestly changed my mindset about the flute. She has helped me improve tremendously and I have thoroughly enjoyed lessons and learning with her. I am in 7th grade and play at school in a large band. The individual teaching has helped me in so many ways. She helped boost my confidence in playing the flute and on sight reading music pieces. I was struggling coming into class, but even after the first couple of classes the improvement was amazing. Julie has helped me correct some of my bad habits. She has not only taught me almost everything I know, she has taught me how to do my own independent work as well. I am always very comfortable asking any question I have. As well as teaching me how to play the flute, Julie has taught me about music. When I play pieces, often she will show me a video of a huge group playing it. We also play many duets with her on flute or piano which is not only fun but very educational in my flute development. She is also very flexible and friendly. I 120% recommend her for any age or instrument. Julie is challenging, yet fun. She is an amazing musician and teacher and I can't thank her enough!"
