*** Lesson Details ***
All students who sign up for lessons will receive a basic fundamental foundation of musical knowledge. Once the fundamentals are understood and assessed, we can then begin to take a more in depth approach in reaching the student's specific goals as a musician. Aspiring songwriters, usually playing piano or guitar will have a different agenda than a high school saxophonist practicing for their state music assessments. Lessons are built around each student's specific interests.

It is important to know that your musical goals can be met with consistent practice, discipline, and dedication to your chosen instrument. So what is the most valuable and sometimes the most difficult skill musicians must learn and subscribe to? HOW to practice...and that will be the underlying theme to each and every lesson we share. The way we practice shapes us as musicians!

Remember that each time people hear you play or sing, you are only compared to the best there is. Smart practice makes perfect!

*** Studio Equipment ***
88 keys fully-weighted, music stand; iPad, Metronome, musical literature.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Apple iPad, metronome

*** Specialties ***
Traditional methods for all instruments; begin with fundamentals while measuring consistent application of skills learned from week to week. For piano in addition to traditional methods, I also can teach a songwriter based course with more emphasis on chord structures, ear training, and chart writing. I also place a big emphasis on HOW to practice rather than just how often.

Good first lesson with Dave. He's a great communicator and seemed to understand my level of music experience; he knew the right subjects to linger on, and what information he could skip over, confident that I already knew it. I felt like we were able to cover a lot of ground in 45 short minutes.

Dave is a great saxophone instructor. He's friendly, knowledgeable and an active touring musician. He also took into account my 25+ years of experience as a guitarist when introducing me to musical ideas and concepts for the saxophone. Highly recommended!

Hayes is super helpful and encouraging. I walked in feeling a little intimidated because I haven't really played in 30 years. He made me feel very comfortable and motivated. Good first lesson.

As a middle-aged guy who has played drums all my life, I wanted to add the bass guitar to my repertoire. Hayes is exactly the right guy and was able to show me how to get off to a quick start and then be able to add to my skills as I keep playing. I would recommend him highly!

-I have been teaching for over 40 years, In the classroom and in the private sector. My students, over the years, have made countless Superior and Excellent ratings at all sorts of competitions! Just to name a few such events, All-State Band, Solo and Ensemble Festivals, Honor Bands, performances for talent shows, pageants, school and church programs. I also had the only student in the state to make The All American Band a couple of years ago.
-Another accomplishment of my students is numerous college scholarships awarded to them with my tutoring and their hard work! Every student who I have helped prepare for a scholarship audition has been awarded a scholarship.
-As a student myself, I made the All-State Band 4 years (no middle school All- State in my state in those days), and my senior year I was 1st Chair Red Band (top band). In college I played 1st chair all 4 years, and after that I earned my Master's Degree in Music and Education. I was associated with symphony orchestras as ...

I have been blessed to have some ability for playing the clarinet, and that along with many hours and YEARS of practice, have made me be able to help 100's and 100's of students to achieve success, winning competitions, receiving Superior ratings, making All-State Band, Honor Bands, ALL-AMERICAN Band, and being awarded college scholarships!

My extensive teaching experience, along with my extensive LIFE experience has brought me to where I am now...a happy, healthy, energetic, successful, and blessed person. If you give me a chance as your tutor/mentor, I pledge to you 100% of the best I have to give, and I will take you from wherever you are now, to as far as you want to go! Kal Opper
man was a famous clarinet teacher who taught many of the world's best clarinetists, I love so much of his teaching, including this saying, "The only thing that is separating you from the world's greatest clarinetist's is hours!" WOW! Think of it..YOU have what it takes right now! I can help you dig down, do the work and find it!

VERY sincerely, Ms. Jan (Betterton)

My goal with my students is to create an efficient system. I want your hour of daily practice to yield the most amount of progress. I am interested in working with advanced players who want a diagnosis of bad habits that are hard to recognize on your own.

Things I like to talk about include body cues for nerves, injury prevention, support, push vs pull, embouchure differences between clarinet/bass clarinet/saxes/flute, and switching between written and improvised music.

About Hideaki
In a perfect world, every minute of practice propels you forward. In my personal experience, I've had lulls in my progress where I just stay afloat for a few months. My job is to diagnose what's happening and optimize the way you are practicing at home.

Please hear my playing on my website before signing up for lessons.

I have been playing clarinet for 12 years and have been teaching lessons for 2 years. I recently won a Classical Performers Award with Belmont University as well as the Music Education Scholarship.
These lessons will not just be a page by page method book reading but rather a mix of activites that will get you to learn music theory, music history, as well as composition and improvisation. I want my students to be well-rounded in their musicianship so they can go on and succeed at whatever challenge faces them.

About Lexi
For Music Lessons:

My name is Lexi and I am a Music Education student at Belmont University.

I started my music career when I was just 5 years old and picked up a violin to which many squeaky sounds came out. I went on to learn the Suzuki method and Mariachi music. Since then I have learned piano, guitar, ukulele, bass guitar, clarinet, and voice. As a music ed student at Belmont, we are required to learn the basics in all orchestral instruments (e.g. trumpet, viola, percussion).

I will be graduating this December and plan on staying in Nashville. I have attended several Music Education Conferences and recently attended that Tennessee Arts Academy for Elementary Music Teachers. I do these to foster Professional Development and to gain great ideas from Music teachers across the country.

Let me teach you what you have been d
reaming to learn.

For Swimming Lessons:

I am CPR certified and there is a pool at my apartment complex that we can use for free!

I competitively swam and played water polo for seven years and have taught lessons for four years. I tailor the lessons to the student's needs. If you just want to learn how to efficiently keep yourself alive in the water, I can do that! If you want to learn how to bring your 100 fly time down, I can do that!

Let me help you become the fish you were meant to be.
