I have been teaching music in the New Jersey Public School System for 24 years. I have a Bachelor's and a Masters degree in Music. I also have a PhD in education so I am someone who works very well with children. In my first year of teaching, I purchased 15 state of the art electronic keyboards to enhance the current music curriculum and created an electronic music program for students in grades 5 and 6. I have performed on piano within the public realm for many years. I am a member of the Piano Teachers Society of America, National Association for Music Educators and the New Jersey Music Ed

As a multi-instrumentalist specializing in woodwinds, I teach proper technique to beginning and intermediate clarinet students.

About Maria
At a young age, I found my passion through playing and listening to jazz and classical music and experiencing the interpersonal connections music creates. From performing to teaching, I love to share my passion for music with those around me.

Since graduating from Temple University with a B.M. in Music Education and Jazz Studies, I have played with musical groups in Europe and recently became a K-8 general music teacher in Philadelphia. Playing and teaching around the world and at home has given me great insight into how students need to be taught: with relevancy to their own lives while m
aintaining artistry and integrity.

My teaching experience ranges from private lessons and jazz workshops to summer music camps and K-12 music classes. I love teaching and will probably never stop!

*** Lesson Details ***
I believe it is important to solidify the foundations of music, so that the student can grow into a knowledgeable, expressive musician. My lessons are taught with a personal and energetic approach leaving the student excited and eager to further explore music. I always make sure that the student is having fun!

Learning an instrument is all about personal growth as a musician. I will help my students become better musicians week by week as long as they are willing to practice and come prepared for the lesson.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I will provide a metronome, tuner, music stand and some music books/repertoire. Student may need to provide their own lesson books.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in classical techniques, improvisation, composition and songwriting.

Cancellation Policy:
Out of common courtesy, please notify me at least 24 hours in advance if you need to cancel and/or reschedule a lesson, and you will not be charged. NOTE: You will be charged for the lesson if you cancel less than 24 hours before the scheduled lesson. No notification of cancellation will result in being charged for the lesson as well.

Maria is my first sax teacher and i loveeeed her. She is extremely patient, and knows how to teach (which is so important). She also inspires me for jazz solo pieces. I remember one time she just asked me to improvise and great music was "forced" out of my horn.

She is a great teacher and I would def have kept taking lessons from her if not she moved out of town. I am really hoping that she will return and do lessons with me again.

I can't say enough about how great Maria is! She was quickly able to assess my ability and create a unique lesson plan catering to my goals. Each lesson was informative, fun, and most importantly- helped immensely with my playing. I happily recommend Maria to anyone hoping to expand their musical horizons.

I feel privileged to be able to write this review. David was my son Sunil's saxophone instructor throughout middle and high school, and his supporter through college. Under David's expert instruction Sunil earned the award for Pennsylvania All State Musician in alto sax as a high school senior. In addition to David's incredible expertise in performance music and his high level teaching skills, he is a very generous and patient and caring person. Over the course of years David became a true friend to Sunil, and to our whole family. I would recommend David to any music student unconditionally.

David Blumberg is an awesome musician and teacher who truly wants his students to shine! He taught my daughter at his location in High School, and via Skype once she advanced to college. David fostered my daughter's love of the clarinet and helped her to improve and accomplish her musical goals. Whether the goal was to make District Band in High School, to successfully audition in college, or to improve sound & technique, David Blumberg has provided motivation and technical expertise!

Dave is unquestionably the best teacher I have ever had in the 60+ years that I have been playing the clarinet. Although I had been away from playing for some time, Dave provided gentle advice and direction that has significantly improved my technique, tone, and musicianship as well as my confidence as a clarinetist. Dave is able to establish a great rapport with his students both mature and young. He understands their needs and goals and helps them achieve those goals. Thanks to Dave's encouragement and help, I was recently accepted as a member of a fine regional symphonic band. Above all, a lesson with Dave is not only instructive--it's also fun.

About Michelle
I'm currently a college student working on my B.A in Music Ed, and have been making music since I was 7. I've had the most experience with students aged 8-14, but I'm open for anything. As a Spanish minor, I speak Spanish fairly well and have experience with an ESL program.

My son really liked Michelle! He was all smiles after the lesion, excited about the homework, and eager to show us what he was working on. He was very very impressed, as was I, with her extensive musical background. Having the lesson in our home is a huge help in our family. Looking forward to the next session!

For beginners:
If you've never touched a clarinet before, no worries! We'll start from scratch. Instrument maintenance (boring, but very important!), Reading music, setting your embouchure correctly, breathing techniques, general fundementals, and a few easy songs.

For intermediate players:
We'll work on producing a warm, rich tone, give the student more confidence playing in different key signatures by working through the twelve major scales, and work through a few intermediate songs.

About Sarah
My name Sarah and I have been playing clarinet for over 12 years. I started in middle school and fell in love with the instrument immediately! I continued into high school where I was first chair, also playing in both all-county and all-district bands. I attended Liberty University and majored in music education, while also playing 4th chair in the Liberty University Wind Ensemble. I love teaching, and taught music at Elizabeth's Early Learning Center with the little ones. I'm very flexible and really just love seeing folks learn. Please contact me if you're interested!

Sarah is amazing! I loved watching her teach the 2 & 3 year olds about music, and her clarinet, at Elizabeth's Early Learning Center. She made learning about music fun so the kids were interested and learned quickly. Sarah is very friendly, patient, and kind. If you choose her as your clarinet instructor you will not be disappointed. She knows her stuff and truly enjoys teaching others.
