In my studio, I believe that my role is to steer students toward a deeper understanding of themselves, their instrument, and their relationship to music. I tailor my teaching to the needs of my individual students, who currently range from age 7 to adult, often adding improvisation and extended techniques to increase my students€™ awareness of the potential of the flute as a channel for one€™s creativity.

I have over 14 years of experience in teaching flute and piano to students of all ages and levels. My goal as a flute teacher is to give each student a very well rounded and thorough understanding of the instrument. Lessons will be tailored to each student and will include the following: knowledge of instrument care/maintenance, tone production, technique (scales, etudes, etc), musicality, music theory, and a variety of repertoire from classical to pop.

Sheila is phenomenal with my daughter, who's been taking lessons with her for about 9 months now. She's patient and kind while giving valuable instruction, feedback, and constructive criticism. My 12-year-old has improved dramatically and even auditioned for and made her school's honors band with Sheila's impeccable instruction. Sheila gets our highest recommendation!

Flute is one of the easiest woodwinds to learn to play! I picked it up as part of my degree program in university. Instruction through the Intermediate level will be given using standard method books and easier repertoire, progressing into standard flute repertoire.

My 8-year-old son, John, had Rosanna for a few weeks over the summer and he said he learned a lot from her. She paid attention and had no trouble keeping our active son's focus on the lesson and I have to say its no easy task to keep him interested! I would highly recommend Rosanna as a piano teacher!

I've been playing the flute most of my life and studied with a few of the best flute professors in the country. I have been teaching privately for 7 years. My teaching style is very flexible, though I expect dedication and hard work from my students. As my student you will learn not only flute, but you will gain a general knowledge of music theory and harmony, knowledge of musical phrasing and interpretation, as well as proper movement and body alignment similar to Alexander techniques.

I have experience teaching flute lessons to everyone from ages 5 to adult and from complete beginners to aspiring professionals. My students have won local competitions and been admitted to the music programs at universities such as UNT. I like to make sure that each student's practice comes from a place of mutual respect and understanding and I emphasize clear communication in practice expectations as well as when explaining playing concepts. I am a patient teacher and questions are encouraged!
