Having had experience in Australian Symphony Orchestras and ensembles, Peter has the passion and expertise to take you as far as you want to go

About Peter
I began piano lessons at four years of age, and was blessed to have an amazing piano teacher, who taught me for 14 years. She gave me a passion to teach others and impart to them a love for music. I have carried on that calling and taught hundreds of adults and children over the last 30 years. I am very thorough in my method and customize each lesson around the goals and dreams of each student. I incorporate theory, ear training and technical into all my lessons, regardless of the style of music they are learning. This gives my students an all-round musical education and appreciation for this wonderful gift they have in their hands.

I have experience in the professional music world as a pianist and french horn player, performing with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Australian Opera Chorus and Orchestra, Sydney Sinfonia, Sydney Philharmo
nic Orchestra and Choir, as well as productions of "Cats", "Phantom of the Opera", Sesame Street, and touring all over Australia, U.S.A. and Israel. I have also been a part of the worship teams at Hillsong Church and C3 Church Australia.

I studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and also received my Licentiate Diploma from the Trinity College of London (L.T.C.L.) in French Horn (Teaching) and Licentiate Diploma from the Trinity College of London (L.T.C.L.) in Piano (Performance). So my experience not only comes from an inspiring teacher, but also from hundreds of performances on stages across the world working with the finest of musicians, singers, conductors and worship leaders.

I love music, and more so, love imparting it to others.

*** Lesson Details ***
Students come away from their lessons inspired and excited about their ability to accomplish their dreams. Whether it is to play 'Phantom of the Opera' or an Adele song, Debussy's Claire De Lune or Jingle Bells, I show them how to do it and help them get there. I am very thorough, taking no short cuts, but making it fun to learn an instrument. You will be amazed at what you are playing in three to six months!

My son has studied french horn with Peter for 2 years now, and he looks forward to lessons every week. Under his guidance I've watched my teenager excel as a musician, and I've grown to admire Peter's teaching methods. We drive halfway across town to get to there ... because HE'S WORTH IT. It's true that Peter listens to his student's goals. He has literally tailored the lessons around my sons auditions while simultaneously giving him the necessary building blocks to continue growing musically.

Studied Clarinet at Gulf Coast College in Panama City, Florida and studied privately with Richard Potter, former Principle clarinetist with the Altoona Symphony and Charles Frahm, former clarinetist with the Indianapolis Symphony.

About Randall
My love of music and musical talent was discovered when I was just five years old. An uncle gave me a plastic recorder and, without lessons or help from anyone, I was playing melodies within days. Soon after I started taking private lessons on Saxophone and Clarinet.
I played my first paying job at age 14.
When I was 15, my private instructor, asked me if I would be interested in teaching. He put me on the County list of private instructors and and soon I had my own thriving studio of Sax and Clarinet students. From that time on, I have almost continuously been involved in music education.
Though I had listened to the rock "guitar gods" of the 60's I never became interested the guitar until, at the age of 15, I first heard Maestro Andres Segovia through his televised master classes. About the same time, I was amazed by the chord
melody genius of jazz artists like George Van Eps, Joe Pass, and Bucky Pizzarelli. It was then I realized that the guitar could be an "orchestra."
In the small town where I grew up, there were no guitar teachers so I studied with outstanding Guitarist Ed McGuire. Later, I studied formally with several renowned professors of guitar, including Bruce Holzman at FSU and Randy Reed, a professor at Duke University in Durham North Carolina.
I have also performed in Master Classes for Classical Guitarists Atigoni Goni and Dimitri Diatchenko.
Before making North Florida my home, I toured and played throughout the Northeast, Midwest and Southeast in a variety of venues and styles from Rock to Jazz to R&B.
Even after settling down I have stayed active in the music business, playing and teaching. I continue to work regularly performing solo, or in ensembles throughout Florida from Tallahassee to Jacksonville.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am a laid back teacher who prefers to motivate my students by instilling my love of, and enthusiasm for, music in them rather than using any kind of "scare" tactics. I had a very few "knuckle rapper" style teachers over the years and found them to be very unmotivating.
A large percentage of the progress a student makes happens between the lessons. The more they practice, the faster they improve.
I also believe in building a solid foundation that my students can build upon. A good teacher teaches a student how to teach themselves.
On guitar, I encourage, but don't insist on, my students learning to read music. Some styles of guitar do not require it, but I do mention the gigs I have gotten over the years because I could read.
On all instruments, I am a big believer in great technique, musicianship and improvisational skills.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Studio is in back of the house as an addition. It has its own separate entrance and is approx 160 sq feet. Well lit and with heat and air.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I will provide a music stand if needed. Students must have their own instrument. They will need to get their own books, though I do provide much supplemental material.

*** Specialties ***
Jazz, Classical, Blues, Flamenco

Phil is so wonderful. After I retired I wanted to learn to play the flute, so I signed up for 30 minutes. I signed for 30 because you never know if you and the instructor are going to get along. I discovered that while I was in session I did fairly well. But once home alone, I would end up in tears. I decided to go from learning the flute to learning the clarinet. I was afraid I would have to find another teacher, but no. Phil pulled out his clarinet and I have been happy ever since! He has a calm demeanor, never talks down to you, multi-talented and encourages you. I finally had to go from 30 minutes to an hour. I found I would have about 15 minutes of questions on symbols, word meanings, etc.; which only left me 15 minutes of actual music. So this may also be something to think about.

I'm a full-time musician in the music industry for 13 years now performing with such artists as J.C. Chasez (N'Sync), Tony-award winners Alice Ripley and Greg Jbara along with several theater companies. I've also coached multiple band programs for 4 years now. Success comes from having a thorough understanding of each instrument I play. This allows for multiple approaches to learning each instrument, rapid development of the student and involving fun teaching techniques. You'll learn fast and enjoy doing it!

About Jesse
Music lessons were such a chore in my childhood. My mother drudgingly dragged me to lessons every week and forced me to practice at least once a week before my next lesson. I soon met a new teacher who offered a different perspective and genuinely made playing music fun.

I can honestly say that it changed my life.

I wouldn't come to understand how until much later. I couldn't have even imagined becoming a professional musician until college but I was certainly given the tools to be successful in whatever I pursued living in such a demanding and competitive world. Self-confidence, active critical thinking skills, consistent work ethic, maintaining a healthy imagination, a lifelong appreciation for the arts. These all stem from my time in lessons and later my career in music.

As a professional musician in the San Diego and Los A
ngeles area, I perform regularly with many different music groups and solo artists including Frankie J, San Diego Symphony, San Diego Winds, Sure Fire Soul Ensemble and many more. I have also coached the band programs at Helix, Hoover, Del Norte and Rancho Buena Vista High Schools on all woodwinds.

Originally a classically-trained saxophonist (concert band, orchestral, solo literature), I currently hold a Masters of Fine Arts degree in Music emphasis in Jazz from California Institute of the Arts and Bachelors of Music degree in Jazz Studies from San Diego State University. I specialize in teaching intermediate and advanced students but also work very efficiently with beginners.

In the spirit of my previous teachers, I encourage new and fun methods of music instruction while still reinforcing the basics. All with the idea of having fun while playing music!

Thank you for your consideration.

I have been working with Jesse for a few years now. I am bummed that the subject section of this review only lets me select one subject. Jesse has helped me with ear training, theory and composition, piano, performance, harmony, and overall musician advice. I cannot think of a more authentic and caring mentor and teacher out there that could be as efficient and helpful as Jesse has been to my career. I have seen a lot of progress in my musical career and my confidence as a musician has grown thanks to Jesse! He genuinely cares about the art and his students, he gets involved in their music careers and makes sure that the lesson is learned. He is familiar with many approaches and works hard for his students. Music is very lucky to have Jesse as a teacher!

I feel privileged to be able to write this review. David was my son Sunil's saxophone instructor throughout middle and high school, and his supporter through college. Under David's expert instruction Sunil earned the award for Pennsylvania All State Musician in alto sax as a high school senior. In addition to David's incredible expertise in performance music and his high level teaching skills, he is a very generous and patient and caring person. Over the course of years David became a true friend to Sunil, and to our whole family. I would recommend David to any music student unconditionally.

Dave is unquestionably the best teacher I have ever had in the 60+ years that I have been playing the clarinet. Although I had been away from playing for some time, Dave provided gentle advice and direction that has significantly improved my technique, tone, and musicianship as well as my confidence as a clarinetist. Dave is able to establish a great rapport with his students both mature and young. He understands their needs and goals and helps them achieve those goals. Thanks to Dave's encouragement and help, I was recently accepted as a member of a fine regional symphonic band. Above all, a lesson with Dave is not only instructive--it's also fun.

Through the foundation I've gained by the influences of Mel Bay, Hal Leonard, and Suzuki musical instruction methods, I compile my own teaching materials. Using personally constructed guitar lessons, I demonstrate, instruct, and guide the student based on my assessment of their individual needs, skill level, and progress. Lessons are formulated in Modules, and advancement through them is based on the student's personal aptitude, skill level, and practice commitment. Learning is accomplished by ear as well as through essential methods of musical notation (tablature, 5-line staff, rhythmic comprehension). Students are trained to perform written music as well as to write and express the music within themselves.
I'm an encouraging and motivating guitar teacher with a casual relaxed approach. Teaching new guitarists is very rewarding to me. To see the light come on and watch a student perform a song, express themselves musically, and create their own composition is an awesome experience.

About Scott
Through formal and self- instructed lessons from age 12, I've learned country, folk, blues, rock, and metal techniques and formed several local bands as lead vocalist and lead/rhythm guitarist.

For students that don't know if they want to play the clarinet, I can provide use of a beginner clarinet (it will stay at my home, and it is a well loved and used marching band clarinet, so please know, it's not in great shape). Lessons take place in my home office; message me to see if this might be a fit for you.

About Victoria
I started playing the clarinet in the 5th grade and have been playing for 18+ years. I enjoy sharing my passion for playing the clarinet and enjoy teaching and looking for ways to help someone learn. I specialize in scales, fundamentals and general study for beginners (all ages). I will have some intermediate level positions opening up this fall, I will update my profile once I am available to take on additional students.

Fun Facts:
* I have a rescue dog whose name was Princess in the shelter. I couldn't bare the thought of taking
her "title" away, so her full title is "Princess Molly of Merriam" - Call her Molly :)
* I also play the tuba, flute, marimba, valve trombone & piano
* I love home projects
* Did you watch my video? You'll see that I have worked with some pretty incredible accounts (work related, not music related)
