About Christina
Greetings! My name is Christina and I am a recent Rutgers University graduate with a double major in both music and economics. I have had over 12 years of private training in piano, with additional experience in violin, orchestra, choir and various performance-related events. Over the years I have studied with numerous pianists and incorporated many different methods and techniques that have greatly influenced my own teaching. I have been teaching music lessons to both children and adults since high school, and am comfortable teaching any age. I do believe that a solid foundation in any i
nstrument begins with music theory, and it is something I incorporate little by little into each lesson; however, it is very important to me that the learning process be enjoyable, and I strive to make each lesson as fun, inspiring, and exciting as possible!

*** Lesson Details ***
Curricular rigor is chosen to fit the needs of each individual student, depending on whether the student is preparing for the challenges of a conservatory, or simply learning for recreational needs.
For beginners, I often refer to both the Faber and Music Tree curriculum. However, I am flexible and open to requests from students, since my goal is for students to learn, advance and enjoy the overall experience.

second studio---travel from home

About Marie-France
I have taught piano and voice most of my adult life. Early on I learned the need to adapt my teaching style to the uniqueness of each student, especially those whose perceptions differ widely from the general populace. I love what I do, helping each student discover and nurture their abilities, no matter what age the student may be.

The Holistic Piano method is especially effective with my Autism-spectrum students, a segment of the population I find particularly rewarding to teach.

The following is a quote from ex-student Karena Krull, author of "Drama Made Easy", and "Rummy Root
s."

“Her greatest strength is her ability to find the right direction for each individual. This ability to adapt to the student's needs lends to individual success for student and avoids their frustration. If her current method or communication isn't creating success for a student she will quickly change to another till she finds the right words or method to enable the student to succeed with the least amount of frustration.”

*** Lesson Details ***
I draw on a wide range of materials in The Holistic Piano (and voice) method. The curriculum may be color-based or number-based, we might focus on chord building or sight-reading, or Songwriting, depending on the student's need and desire.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Large Music Room: one grand piano, 2 keyboards, parents can sit in on lesson from living room

*** Specialties ***
Because each student is an individual, I approach teaching like a coach, custom designing a course of study for each student to meet their individual needs.

Both myself (a 42-year old adult who decided to learn piano) and my son (a 6-year old boy) are taking lessons from Marie-France. The way that she can work with both of us with such proficiency, care and attention and they way she can quickly figure out how "you" learn and adapt her teaching to that is remarkable. We love working with her. She is amazing.

About Chris
My name is Chris B. and I've been playing music for most of my life.

The best lesson that I've personally learned is that a musician is never done learning. Once you start believing that you know everything there is to know about your instrument, or that your style of playing is superior to others, then you've stopped growing musically. Perhaps you excel in one area of your playing but need further development in another. Personally, I've also learned that I enjoy sharing my knowledge of music with others and exposing students to new techniques and musical concepts.

I strongly believ
e that these traits are the most important aspects of teaching music to others. No matter how advanced my playing skills might progress, I’ll always be able to relate to any type of student because I’m still learning something new everyday!

I've been giving Stephen jazz guitar lessons for a little over a year and he's an absolute pleasure to teach. In that short amount of time I've seen (and heard) him grow leaps and bounds musically! I think Stephen's greatest assets are his understanding and knowledge of many styles of music, his commitment to improving as a musician and willingness to help others, his very friendly demeanor, and his inquisitive nature. I can't recommend Stephen highly enough!

About Stefanie
My name is Stefanie Proulx and I am a flutist in the New York City area, currently pursuing my master's degree at SUNY Purchase. I recently graduated from the University of Delaware with degrees in flute performance and sociology. I have been playing flute for 14 years, and have experience teaching elementary aged students, and amateur adult flutists. I have much experience playing piccolo, as well as alto and bass flutes.

At the University of Delaware, I was principal of both the Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra, and also regularly played with the Chamber Orchestra for the opera theat
re. With the UD Wind Ensemble, I had the privilege to travel to Taipei, Taiwan for the 2015 International Concert Band Festival. I was also regularly hired to play for the Master Player's Concert Series.

An avid chamber musician, I was a member of the Nota Bene Wind Quintet for three years, and a flute and harp duo for two years. My passion lies with contemporary and new music, although I love working on pieces of all genres. I also enjoy playing in pit orchestras for musicals and operas, and will often double on clarinet and saxophone.

I am able to teach at my home, at my school, or online -- whatever works best for you! My schedule is highly flexible and subject to change. I am more than willing to work with you to find the most convenient time! Whether you are a beginner or a more advanced player, I would love to share my knowledge and experience with you and help you reach your goals!

I highly recommend Stefanie. She is an excellent flute/piccolo and woodwind player and I learned a lot from her.

When I arrived for my first lesson she already had appropriate material ready for me. Her knowledge of the instrument was such that she could focus in on specific areas of my playing that needed work. She also has broad knowledge of the repertoire and was able to recommend both exercises and solos that would be appropriate for me to work on. She also is pleasant and personable. I enjoyed my lessons with her.
