The clarinet is often referred to as the most challenging woodwind instrument. So, in lessons, we'll be sure to cover all the basics of tone production, breath support musicality, and technique to ensure a solid foundation to build upon. I tend to teach these concepts through the use of various exercises and etude/method and duet books which are important for musical development and also fun!
Bill is multi-instrumentalist, jazz musician, composer, arranger and educator. He developed a strong connection to music early in life through some family tradition, encouraging parents and many inspiring and influential teachers. He has gone on to perform alongside a number of noteworthy artists and ensembles and has toured extensively overseas and throughout North America.
His love for music came to life though performances with several ensembles in public school, regional big bands and his own jazz saxophone quartet. He is a graduate of the Purchase College Conservatory of Music's Jazz Studies program and has recently become a graduate of New Jersey City University's M.M. Multiple Woodwind Performance program.
Following two years performing abroad on cruise ships and the national tour of Young Frankenstein: The Musical, he was dr
awn back to New York City. Performing regularly on piccolo, flute, alto flute, clarinet, bass clarinet and all saxophones, he is proving to be valued asset in the NYC music scene.
Bill performs regularly with his group, Bill and the Sixth Generation, while also working as a Broadway pit musician, a sideman and a private music teacher.
*** Lesson Details *** Every student is unique, therefore, lessons are designed to fit the student individually. My teaching style is molded to satisfy each students wants and needs. I also like to focus on developing proper playing habits. I see it as my job to help my students understand and develop the proper techniques to eliminate bad habits in order for them to be the best they can be on their instrument. Lessons are about having fun making music, learning, and improving.
*** Studio Equipment *** Chairs, music stands and keyboard for harmonic discussions.
*** Travel Equipment *** I expect the student to bring their own music notebook and their own instrument. They may also need to purchase their own lesson books when the time comes.
*** Specialties *** I can help my students learn how to play in a variety of styles ranging from classical (solos, chamber music, etudes, etc.) to jazz (improvisation, harmony, etc.). Whether they're working on a song to play at school, a NYSSMA or All County solo, or just learning for fun, I will help them play to the best of their ability.
After studying at Cass Tech High School and Wayne State University in MI, I have enjoyed teaching privately, in groups, and at churches, I have performed vocally and instrumentally throughout the US and in 8 foreign countries, and taught at public, charter, and private schools. It is important to tailor each lesson to a student's individual needs and ability to ensure that their experience is as rewarding as possible!
*** Lesson Details *** You will learn to play with ease and proficiency while learning the Music Theory that supports your playing. You will also receive ear training, which will make learning more rapid, and more thorough.
*** Studio Equipment *** Studio with pianos; parents can sit in on lessons.
*** Travel Equipment *** When needed, I provide printed learning supplements or in e-mail. The student should hav

Hello, and thank you for your interest!
My name is Stephanie, I am a teaching-artist from El Paso, Texas. I currently reside, perform and teach in the Boston and greater Boston area.
I am a recent graduate of The New England Conservatory of Music with a Masters and Graduate Diploma in Saxophone Performance. I received my Bacherlors in Music Education from New Mexico State University.
“A teaching artist, by definition, is a two-career professional: a working artist and a working educator. As a working artist is they are involved in an ongoing process of discovery, problem solving, discipline and refinement of skills in their discipline. As a working educator, it is essential that the artist is also developing a knowledge base and skills to be an effective partner in education. Achieving a meaningful balance between these two prof
essions, whereby one feeds the other, is an ongoing process that requires a deepening awareness for the teaching artist of what their teaching brings to their art and what their art teaches them about learning.”
I am devoted and dedicated to helping find each of my students' strengths, weaknesses and style of learning. Once I have identified these traits, I am able to develop lessons and repertoire that helps each students become the most efficient learner and best musician they can be.
I pride myself in creating a fun and safe learning environment in which I establish a firm musical foundation for my students. Lessons include: scales, etudes, articulation, dynamic and sight reading exercises, standard repertoire, recording and analyzing performances, music history lessons, and exploration of the sounds, genres and artists of saxophone/flute/clarinet/piano.
Simultaneously, my students cultivate many other skills while learning how to play their instrument. Students enhance their fine motor skills and ability to memorize, students increase their overall self-confidence and become self-sufficient and creative problem solvers. I am passionate about educating and empowering my students and I enjoy connecting with a wide array of musicians of all ages, playing levels and backgrounds.
Feel free to contact me to inquire about lessons, I hope to hear from you soon!
I'm an older student (old actually) who started piano 2 years ago with Stephanie . She is great for a beginning student. Knows how to teach. Is encouraging, but demanding enough to keep me on my toes. Just wonderful and a thoroughly lovely person.

Stephanie is a patient, knowledgeable, enthusiastic educator and collaborator who loves to perform and teach. I had the honor of working with her for nearly four years while we pursued similar degrees at New Mexico State University. She consistently brought a level of maturity and preparedness beyond her age to our rehearsals and practices. If I was limited to only one word to describe her, it would be "professional".

I very much enjoyed my lesson!
Stephanie is very personable and patient! Can't wait until next week!
I have been teaching clarinet for 22 years. I have an earned Masters degree in music and enjoy teaching students of all ages. I am happily married with 5 children at home--4 of them are musicians as well (the youngest is 4).. Students will quickly learn not only the basics of music theory, but will be playing songs as early as their first lesson. It is extremely rewarding watching students have fun, excel, and fall in love with making music. I look forward to working with you.

Experienced Clarinet teacher of 7 years available for eager students of all experience levels and ages! Clarinet was the Primary instrument I studied while attending Ithaca College to receive my music education degree. I studied under Michael Galván whom is well recognized in the clarinet community. I have had two successful beginner students receive top chair placement in their respective high school and middle school bands.I believe that excellence is grown through practice and dedication.
Michael graduated from the prestigious Music Education Program and Psychology Program at Ithaca College in 2012. Ithaca gave him the incredible opportunity to hone in on his musicianship and compositional skills. He was also able to discover a new medium of composition, film composition. Michael immediately fell in love with the art of writing music for film and was able to make his first musical debut on a film directed by Mike Blaney. In his time at Ithaca College, he composed scores for multiple films and continues to maintain an active composition career. Michael is currently finishing as a music teacher Brooklyn Scholars Charter School (BSCS) and Music Content Leader for National Heritage Academies (NHA) New York Branch. Michael is currently in school studying the psychological benefits of music education for children and adolescents
I love motivating my students to achieve their own goals, realize their potential, and find happiness in music. I hold degrees from Manhattan School of Music and Oberlin Conservatory, and I'm happy to travel for lessons. Individuals and groups of all ages are welcome!
My studio ranges from elementary, middle, and high school students preparing for NYSSMA to senior citizens, and from beginners to advanced players.
We work hard, we express ourselves through the instrument, and we have fun -- in any musical style of their choosing.
In addition to my private studio based in Westchester, I've taught in the Oberlin Community Music School and the Harmony Program in New York City.
For over more than 20 years I have had many successful students, who have enjoyed playing and studying with me. Teaching is a life-giver for me--I enjoy introducing students to the joys of different musical ideas, concepts, and ways that they can advance on their instrument. Things that I have enjoyed learning and playing over the years, that I can pass on to them to explore and enjoy. I hold both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Music, and have taught as an adjunct on the college level, high school, and privately. On the college level, I have taught clarinet, saxophone, and flute at three colleges, a Woodwind Methods class for five years, developed jazz ensembles, and developed and procured music for woodwind trios and saxophone quartets.
I have played professionally in these settings; jazz, symphonic, pit orchestra, and general business entertainment freelance as a woodwinds specialist.

Hello! Thank you for taking the time to check out my profile.
I have taught clarinet lessons to children from ages 10-18 for 8 years. I take care to pinpoint the strengths and weaknesses of each child, and I design lesson plans for each student using those observations.
During the lesson, I cater my teaching techniques to the skill level and personality of each student. I also take notes on a Google Doc file detailing what we work on and what the student should practice for the future. The Doc link is sent to parents and to the student, if applicable.
I have a Bachelors degree in Music Education and Music Composition from the University of Georgia. My clarinet professor, Dr. D. Ray McClellan, is a triple Juilliard graduate, and I have studied with him for 6 years.
I have completed Levels I and II of Orff-Schulwerk teacher training, meaning that I specialize in teaching music through movement, drama, and speech. I want each student to have an active and fun music making ...
Hello! Thank you for checking out my TakeLessons profile. My name is Corinne, and my passion is teaching. Great teachers can have lasting effects on their students, and I cherish the possibility of improving my students’ lives through music.
When I'm teaching a lesson, it may seem on the surface that we're only practicing how to play their instrument well. However, with every student that I meet, my goal is to help them learn how to set and achieve realistic goals. A brand new clarinet student’s weekly goal may be to play their instrument for 10 seconds without taking a breath. An advanced clarinet student’s goal may be to master a piece for their college audition. Both students have challenging goals based on their skill level, but the goals look very different!
I believe that goal-setting is an important life skill that can set a
nyone on a path to greatness – as long as they know how to follow through. My goal is to help YOU reach your goals.
When I am not working with students, you can find me working on my own goals! I practice all of my instruments often, and I am working hard to become a great tap dancer. My non-musical interests include learning about the coffee-making process, learning how to make costumes from scratch, and playing The Sims.
Thank you for your attention, and I hope to meet you soon!
Corinne takes the time to understand where the student is in their learning process and instruct to the appropriate level. She is patient and gives clear instruction and practice techniques. Yea!!

Corinne is doing a fantastic job helping my daughter, Ava, with her clarinet. She is structured, detailed, and responsive. I appreciate that she communicates with me right after Ava's lesson to provide feedback and homework for Ava.

Corinne is very encouraging and works well with beginners!
"He quickly assess my dayghter's level and began immediately teaching her new notes and how to read music."
My daughter has been studying with Dimitry for almost a year now, and I have seen incredible improvement in her skill on clarinet. Not only
has Dimitry improved her technique, but he has also taught her a lot of music theory, improved her musicality, and given her lots of tips on clarinet and reed care. I would strongly recommend Dimitry to anyone searching for an excellent clarinet teacher."
"Lisa has been amazing! Our daughter decided to start clarinet lessons in April in preparation for joining the high school band program in the fall. Workin
g with Lisa, she has made increditable progress! Lisa is very encouraging to her students, makes the lesson time a fun experience while being a great music teacher!"
"Becky has been my daughter's music teacher for several years. She is an excellent teacher and really brings her love and joy of music to each lesson. Not
only does she develop music technique, she has become a wonderful role model for my daughter. We have been extremely pleased with Becky's professionalism and her ability to develop a great teaching relationship with my daughter."
"Kevin is very well versed in musical instruments. We took an older clarinet to him and he identified what type it was and was able to play it and teach h
ow to play it. Looking forward to more lessons."
"It’s one thing to have the gift of teaching music, which Michael does. It’s another, entirely, to be able to relate to young students in a way that fires
them up and keeps them excited."
"David has taught with my son and myself. I recently retired and decided to return to playing music. I have not played since college. We constructed a p
rogram that suited my schedule and desire to return to clarinet and also start the soprano sax. David is very knowledgeable and has help[ed me get back into music. He helped me upgrade my clarinet and select a good intermediate soprano sax. He also introduced me to several web tools and different books to advance my skills. I enjoy my lessons with David ad look forward to developing my skills. I highly recommend him to all levels of musicians."
"Great first lesson! Leslie was very professional, prepared and thorough. Really liked the way she walked through everything and was always open for ques
tions along the way. She gave both positive and constructive feedback."
"Rich is so skilled and friendly and punctual. My child had a fantastic lesson."
