I have had such a great experience taking clarinet lessons from Elia. She is very good at motivating me to practice in a non-degrading way, and she is always so supportive of my progress and struggles. I find that her explanations are very helpful and easy to understand, which I think is important for any teacher. I feel like I've improved a lot in the short time that I have been working with her, and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a great teacher!

Elle has been very helpful. I am an older student just beginning on the clarinet. Elle took the time to ask what by goal is and my music background. She is very patient and has given me a number of great suggestions to get started. She is always pleasant and positive and I look forward to our sessions.

I got a perfect score on NYSSMA thanks to the wonderful lessons from Elia! Elia was extremely organized and helped me stay on top of all of the audition requirements. She also gave me tips and exercises for my performance anxiety.

I have been coaching woodwind players and freelancing for the last 10 years in Los Angeles, New York, and back home in New Hampshire. Growing up, I heard my sister practicing the clarinet couldn't wait to get started. Once I started in 4th grade, I played in every class meeting and even played a duet with my principal in 5th grade during morning announcements. I play creative music of all genres and will help each student find music that they enjoy playing.

Music lessons are an opportunity to facilitate skill acquisition, self-expression, and strategic planning to meet new goals. Ideally the teacher and student agree to treat each musical idea with a unique attention, where the student learns by way of the teachers experience and insightful guidance, and the teacher also learns through live interaction with the student. I believe this type of learning to be possible for all levels of students and even more natural outside of an academic institution than inside of one.

Chris is a wonderful teacher! I had a couple of lessons with him to prepare for my Grad School auditions. and he provided me with the feedback I needed in a supportive style. Even though I was only able to have a couple of lessons they were quite meaningful and I would definitely recommend him. He has great energy and is quite knowledgeable.

Specializing in saxophone, clarinet, flute and piano, I have experience in both public and private after-school programs, as well as in-home lessons settings. My formal music training began at the age of five in Vilnius Lithuania with the famous Vladimir Tchekassin. Since then, I have excelled in my saxophone studies at the Vilnius Conservatory and at the Music Academy in Cologne Germany while pursuing an active performing career. My son has been studying with Mr Thomas for 5 years! He is a very talented musician/teacher and I’ve seen such progress in my sons playing over the years. He has helped him write his own pieces and prepped him for his orchestra performances. “Mr. Thomas is really fun to play music with and you learn a lot. He even helped me with transcribing a video game soundtrack that I loved into my recital piece”! We highly recommend Mr. Thomas!
Eunice
My son took clarinet lessons in-person and then transitioned to online when COVID happened. He tried piano and violin before but clarinet is the first instrument that Micah was super excited about. He learned and improved so much with the one on one instruction with Thomas. He says clarinet is his passion now and looks forward to every lesson. I recommend Thomas to teach your child. He is patient, kind and can find ways to motivate kids to play at their best.

As a group Clarinet and Flute teacher with Youth Orchestra of St. Luke's, Thomas Giles created an engaging and inspiring music learning curriculum for his students. At each recital all of his students were able to introduce themselves, the piece they have learned, and a bit of history or commentary to go along. Throughout online learning Dr. Giles continued a supportive and creative environment, even through zoom, where each of his students composed and performed their own piece. If you are looking for your student to come away from lessons with a high level of ability and confidence on their instrument look no further than Dr. Giles, they will have the added bonus of learning important skills such as public speaking and presenting. They may even take away some composition and arranging skills!

Excellent teacher and a great fit for my beginner! Highly recommended!
Alex
My son started to play saxophone a few years ago and he really liked it up until this year. Not a lot was happening with band lessons online this year hence no progress and no motivation. I reached out to Michael with the only goal in mind: to spark the passion to play saxophone for my 12y.o. son again. We've already had a bit over 10 lessons and my son loves his lessons. I can see really good progress but most importantly he wants to play. It's not a chore for him any more. It's actually fun and he enjoys it. Now we can build on that. Michael has great attitude and communicates with kids very well. He definitely has a passion for music and it translates to kids.
Liam
Michael has great energy and excitement for the music. He picked a great fitting piece to work on with our teenager. He helped our son to remember why he loves music and recapture some lost skills with all the COVID down time. Thank you!

"After many years as a music educator, clarinetist, saxophonist playing with Army and concert bands, as well as dance bands, I have had the pleasure of meeting and working with Dimitri. Being retired , I made the decision to seriously play clarinet again. His skills, as a musician and teacher have helped me regain my passion for the instrument and ability to play at a high level. I would recommend him most highly."
