Flugelhorn is a rich and beautiful counterpart to the trumpet, and it is found in many styles of music the world over. In addition to covering the basic technical requirements of the instrument, I'm particularly interested in the many genres in which the flugelhorn can be found, and I like to focus on the styles of music that most interest and challenge my students. I have been playing trumpet and flugelhorn for more than 18 years, and I teach my students valuable brass exercises based on lessons I learned under the tutelage of John McNeil, Laurie Frink, and Walter White. I encourage the use of long tones, air support, and trumpet calisthenics to improve tone, increase range and endurance, and work towards greater flexibility.
About Bobby
I am a jazz trumpeter, improviser, and composer as well as an avid listener and enthusiastic educator. I maintain an active performance schedule playing improvised music as well as funk, soul, afro-beat, reggae, hip-hop, and American folk music. In addition to trumpet, I have experience performing

I am able to to teach music theory from the very beginning up until post-tonal theory. I specialize in teaching beginners with basics like recognizing all key signatures/circle of fifths, solfege, reading in different clefs, intervals, triads, and different types of scales. However, I am an experienced tutor in many levels of theory and can most certainly be of help for homework assignments and creating exercises to understand different concepts.

Performance is an important aspect of music and I am excited to introduce this option to the music studio. In the realm of Music Performance there is a lot of music that can be uncovered and learned. We will look at Pop, Music Theatre, Opera, and other styles of performance music.
Lessons are geared more specifically towards teaching correct singing technique, Introducing stage characterization, character analysis, Understanding popular music and its forms.
These lessons are very much explorative for both the teacher and student as they embark to understand a variety of modern music styles.

Some start optimistically young, others driven by passion start much later in life, but when is the right time to start violin lessons? Like any other form of art, there’s simply no black or white when it comes to exploring music. The right time to start can’t be measured exclusively by age.
