Specializing in saxophone, clarinet, flute and piano, I have experience in both public and private after-school programs, as well as in-home lessons settings. My formal music training began at the age of five in Vilnius Lithuania with the famous Vladimir Tchekassin. Since then, I have excelled in my saxophone studies at the Vilnius Conservatory and at the Music Academy in Cologne Germany while pursuing an active performing career. Most recently, in 2005, I followed my passion for teaching music by completing an advanced Instructor program in Instrumental Pedagogy at the Music Academy in Cologne.

With me students listen and practice their way to being complete musicians. They improvise from the start, quickly gaining confidence that music is their domain and that they can be creative in music, more than expert readers and interpreters.
This creativity, combined with a strong foundation I give in classical technique, can open infinite doors. My students have composed their own music, learned jazz, and explored Irish flute music and the Cuban charanga. Other students have explored Country, Rock, and even Dubstep (not my thing, but I like keeping an open mind).
I encourage lots of exploration and listening, both curated and free, which I then encourage students to share. My studio explores the length and breadth of the world's music, both ancient and modern, for inspiration -- far beyond the basic range of flute repertoire.
I also introduce students to the social world of the flute, including clubs and events, professional societies, online and local resources, and ...
About David
I've worked hard to be a flutist, and I continue to work hard every day to grow my technique, my hearing, and my musical imagination: what we call "chops" and "big ears"! My great hope is that I can help my students succeed at something they are passionate about within the musical domain. Persona

Our family was amazed at the immediate progress! David is patient and able to adjust concepts to the child’s level for easy absorption and application. I can say from first hand experience that school music lessons may be fine, but there is no comparison to the one-on-one attention of an expert flutist! Thank you David!

I begin by focusing on the basics of the flute, such as knowing the parts of the flute, how to hold the flute with good posture, making that first sound, having the correct embouchure, and some breathing techniques. Then we progress to learning basic note-reading and rhythms, while incorporating several beginner flute fingerings, then moving on to learning simple songs.
I typically use the Accent on Achievement series for flute or the Rubank flute series or a combination of the two, depending on the student's ability/level.
If the student plays in band at school, we may also take time to work on music for that as well, giving the student the individual attention that they may miss in a group/classroom setting. Flute lessons are also a great way to keep up with practice when school is out for holiday breaks or summer.
