As a woodwind specialist, I have developed my flute technique at the college level. Beginner students will learn the basic foundational skills (such as embouchure, air, posture, hand position, tonguing, and fingerings) in a fun and encouraging atmosphere where the student's needs always come first. Intermediate students can expect to be challenged with more demanding work with scales, arpeggios, etudes, and selected flute repertoire. But don't fear! I will guide you through interactive duets and listening exercises to hone your talent.

Details, details, details. As many as we can unearth depending on the time you have to prepare. The other important element in audition prep is magic ways to be chill. There are many beautiful ways to approach the anxiety and intensity of audition from a sort of upside down perspective wherein you find sensorial support in forms of nature and your own body as well as yep, your wonderful imagination.

My passion is singing and I have recently received my Master’s degree in classical vocal performance at the Mannes School of Music. My voice teachers have greatly impacted my life and my goal is to inspire my students in a similar way. I have acquired many different tools for teaching through my studies and teaching experience. Everyone has a unique voice and learning style and I tailor my teaching to each individual.
Students of all ages and levels are welcome. Styles that I teach include art song, opera, musical theater, and pop with a focus on building a solid and healthy vocal technique.
My experience in dance, Alexander Technique, and acting informs my teaching approach. I include body awareness, character interpretation, and making the music come alive as an integral part of the lessons. I love to teach and enjoy helping others discover their voices and achieve their personal singing goals. It would be a pleasure to help you discover your voice!

My method of teaching is motivating and rewarding, and my students always succeed on their scale tests, Region and All State auditions, and college auditions. When I started training with Vanessa I had not had any formal education on singing since middle school. I needed to re-learn my fundamentals of singing. Her warm and encouraging teaching style made me comfortable immediately. She quickly found out where I was lacking and taught me I can be in control if I learn how to Breath while singing. Sounds easy right? Well no Vanessa really had to break my bad singing techniques because I wasn't using breath control. Well now my breathing and my tone has developed all due to Vanessa giving me the tools to sing properly. I highly recommend her if you are a serious student wanting to achieve your own sound properly and save your vocal chords from burning out due to bad form."
Greg also has a plenty of patience for his students and is really good at encouraging growth and understanding in his students. Sometimes I would come in with a song I wanted to learn that was way more advanced than I was at the time, but rather than say I couldn't play it or to wait until later, he would take that difficult song and help break it down into what I did know and we'd go from there and as I result I felt I learned quickly, as well as understood how to break down songs into their more basic elements which would become later on for when I wrote my own music or lead in bands.
All in all a great experience and I feel like I owe a lot of my musical ability to the lessons I took with Greg."

Tablature is a form of musical notation that was invented to make reading music easier for fretted and string instruments like guitar, bass, and violin. The premise is operationally-based, meaning that rather than showing rhythm, duration, and pitch, violin tabs will show the player where and when to place their fingers on the instrument. For an improvising musician, violin tabs allow you to improvise while staying within the chord structure of a song. Tablature-style notation is most commonly …
