As a woodwind specialist, I have developed my flute technique at the college level. Beginner studetns will learn the basic foundational skills (such as embouchure, air, posture, hand position, tonguing, and fingerings) in a fun and encouraging atmosphere where the student's needs always come first. Intermediate students can expect to be challenged with more demanding work with scales, arpeggios, etudes, and selected flute repertoire. But don't fear! I will guide you through interactive duets and listening exercises to hone your talent.

Nick is very knowledgeable and proficient on saxophone, and a dedicated and patient teacher. No matter your level, there’s always more to learn, and I highly recommend Nick for your private instruction.

Nick Stow! I learned a great deal from his private lessons. He understands how to gradually work into good and exceptional habits for practicing as well as performing. I only wish to have had more of an opportunity to perform with and learn from these lessons. As I said, it takes time and patience to come to the skill level Nick is at, but he'll work with you to grow a level you can start to excel at.
Sid
I have been playing the saxophone for over 50 years without a long term period between active playing. Nick has been very effective in my playing ability and I have learned a great deal from him.

I am passionate about seeing students grow. I strive to be energetic yet patient when teaching to create a comfortable dynamic in my lessons that encourages excitement about music.
I have been playing guitar for 9 years, and have performed professionally with groups playing styles ranging from jazz, country, rock, blues, funk, and even musical theatre. I am capable of teaching beginners as well as intermediate students.
My lessons encourage a strong knowledge of fundamentals, so that a student can continue to develop years down the road with their acquired understanding of music, but I also am also careful to tailor lesson material according to a student's interests, personality, and natural learning methods.

"As the year closes I have actually learned to play guitar, in a basic form but actually enough that I was able to play at my church in just over ten classes. This is exiting as I thought at 60 years old I would never learn to play a guitar. I'm looking forward to picking it up next year and expand my knowledge. Daniel is a great instructor and a very kind human being. I recommend him to anyone."

"Once again Missy hits it out of the park with her coaching and teaching skills. She stretches me and challenges me whether it is a simple scale adding higher and lower notes to what I can't even think I can make or breath control that I know I will surely die from. With her practice regime I surprise myself that before too long I can hit those notes and not die singing with one breath. Thank you Miss Missy!"

Listen Up! Helpful Singing Tips Just for the Guys

The basics of singing are the same for everybody -- vocalists should be aware of unnecessary tension in your throat or body, maintaining good breath support, and never forcing your voice beyond its natural range. The principles are the same whether you are singing opera or rock. However, there are elements of vocal technique and style which apply to different genres and voice types, and some singing tips for guys that are as important for the next budding Pavarotti as for the aspiring death …
