Anne M. Montclair, CA

About Anne

I am a professional, caring, and knowledgeable teacher. I believe that every student is an individual and I approach each lesson with that individual in mind. I have experience with all ages and am educated in many different teaching methods and styles. I am a confident believer that any person can succeed in music and enjoy music at some level. Education I began taking piano lessons when I was six years old and I was hooked. I took lessons for 9 years and then resumed again when I was in college. In fourth grade I picked up the flute and the saxophone because I wanted to play in the school Jazz Band. I then took Alto Saxophone and Flute lessons for 8 years all the way through high school. It wasn't until high school that I caught the singing bug when I joined the women’s choir

A Perfect Match

Committed, kind, intuitive, highly skilled singer and instructor. Anne is perfect for my daughter, Natalie. Anne has time and again gone way beyond what is required in a voice teacher, and has shown ingenuity and patience where needed (most of the time). I would recommend Anne as voice coach for any young aspiring singer. She will inspire, patiently work through any difficulties, and never ever use negative criticism, but always positive suggestions. An amazing and talented young woman.

Best classical guitar teacher ever! Alex is a very easy-going, super friendly and straightforward teacher. He has an amazing ability to make complicated guitar techniques into very easy tasks. I surprised how much I learned just from his first lesson and how much I improved in a week. I would recommend any student regardless your age and level to study with him. You will get your money worth.

Alex is wonderful…he has such a feeling for music and being sure his pupils learn properly…one important thing that impressed me…he asked me a very good question, "do you want to learn easily or do you want to struggle learning?"…I have long nails and he explained when hitting the keys, it is very difficult to hold the wrist and hit the key properly….so I have filed my nails down…LOL….because I want to learn piano easily and most importantly learn the proper etiquette when playing.. He is a great teacher..and he teaches with passion...

Its all very basic now but feel with knowledge of the basics it will help me understand future lessons easily…..looking forward to my next lesson…..in the meantime, drawing the Cleff, Notes and Staffs to be sure I understand, per his instructions…Love it!

For a reference guide, I typically use The Singing Book by Dayme & Vaughn, Singing for the stars by Seth Riggs, and have the following tools for your lessons: a CD recorder. Each lesson will be recorded onto a cd so you don't have to take notes. If you don't understand something then, you'll might understand some

Hello world, I live in Montclair and go to high school. I always wondered how to sing like the people on TV. I didn't know anybody to trust, plus I was scared. One day I finally got to courage to get help. I begged my parents for lessons because everybody in my family, like my cousins made fun of me. Now they laugh no more. Hehe! Love my voice coach!

I been singing for over 12 years. I was so blessed to have found Varin who was referred by my bass player Alex. Throughout my years of singing, I never found anyone that could maintain my voice when I was on tour. I love working with Varin so much, he is now teaching my son and my little sister. I would definitely recommend him to anyone seriously looking to level up their singing skills....= )

If anyone is meant to be a teacher,it would be this person. She is so gifted.. Amy has truly changed my life both as a performer and person. She helped me polish my vocal technique and singing methods, in addition to acting and audition coaching. She was very instrumental in helping me pick amazing audition songs and how to really give a memorable performance, even if it's just 16 bars at an open call! Before studying with Amy, I was a bit unfocused and rusty, now I am poised and confident in my singing abilities. Thank you Amy, you are an incredible and inspiring teacher!

As a former student, I couldn't feel luckier to have studied flute with Michelle for ~6 years (ages 10-16). During that time, she not only helped improve my technique and skill enormously, but also acted as a hugely supportive, warm and funny presence in my life. Michelle genuinely cared about my progress and very patiently guided me through years of instruction, offering constant encouragement. She always made sure I was thoroughly prepared for every recital, music competition, or youth orchestra that I participated in, and helped me pick music that I always enjoyed playing and practicing. She was also very thoughtful and hands-on in terms of helping me choose a new flute, a music camp, etc., which my parents and I greatly appreciated.

During my time with Michelle, I felt that my lessons were excellently paced—she knew when to push and challenge me, but also made sure I was comfortable with the material, and didn't rush me if something proved more difficult. Over the years, we progressed through theory, breathing techniques, scales, playing with an accompanist or another flutist, etc. in a way that felt very natural and appropriate. Additionally, the relationship we built became very important to me as a student. There were several times that, as an overextended middle- or high-schooler, I seriously thought about quitting flute—but the idea of stopping lessons with Michelle was sad enough to make me reconsider each time. I truly appreciated how much she cared about me both as a musician and as a person, and was thankful in the end to have kept playing with her as long as I did.

Michelle is easy-going and knowledgeable, kind and talented, understanding and wonderful. I will always be so grateful for the kind of instruction and encouragement I received from her—she helped me grow as a musician in every way. Thank you so much!!

My daughter (who is now in college) was a student of Michelle’s from 4th – 11th grade. Michelle is a talented musician, a wonderful person, and a very effective teacher. My daughter really enjoyed her lessons with Michelle - it was always a bright spot in her busy week. She benefited from Michelle’s guidance outside of lessons also – recitals, entering and placing in solo competitions, and auditioning and playing for the Los Angeles Youth Orchestra. We felt so lucky to have found Michelle – she was an excellent teacher and a wonderful role model - teacher, musician, mother. I recommend her very, very highly.
