I've been teaching sitar for 5 years and my students have gone on to develop a love for Indian classical music and culture. Within the first few lessons, you'll be properly holding the sitar and playing notes and phrases. Then, we take particular ragas and begin layering in raga and tala theory and more advanced techniques. My greatest joy is taking a student who started with no musical experience and getting them to the point of successfully performing on stage with tabla accompaniment.

I've been teaching piano for over 13 years. I use Alfred's Premier Piano Courses levels 1 - 6 for children. For adults I use Alfred's Lesson Book 1 - 3. My teaching goals for all my students are to enable them to read and make music so that they could experience the joy of journeying in the realm of musical sounds.
My philosophy in teaching piano is very much like learning to drive a car. Once a person learns the mechanism of driving so many possibilities open for the person to enjoy trips to many places that bring pleasures that destiny could offer. In some ways, playing the piano is very much like learning to drive a car. Once the mechanism of making music is mastered, the possibilities of making journeys of musical sound is endless.

Travis has been a great instructor and I am very pleased with the results. He is a great teacher, an amazing guitar player, and is very patient and can handle all of my scheduling issues. I would highly recommend taking lessons from Travis.
I've certainly enjoyed my beginning guitar lessons with Travis. He takes the time to answer my questions and explain things to I understand the music and the best techniques to use. He is also very encouraging and supportive of my just enjoying the guitar, even with mistakes. So far, I am having a great time!

I've been teaching mandolin for 4 years helping students develop a love for the instrument and learn more about music along the way. Mandolin is an often underappreciated instrument which is fantastic for both melodic and rhythmic playing styles. Within the first few lessons you'll have a solid base of strumming, picking, chord changes and melodic playing, with a couple simple songs too. Moving on from there I will craft lessons to move you toward a "goal song," making sure to cater your progress to your needs while keeping a focus on good technique. I enjoy working with students of all ages and experiences and I can't wait to meet you!

Now 5, Anna enjoys going to lessons, she loves playing her songs for family and is beginning to get an appreciation for music, for learning and for what a little practice can do to improve her playing. We keep things fairly low key at home in terms of practice time since she is 4, and I want it to continue to be fun and for her to continue on with lessons as she gets older, but it amazes me what Rebecca has been able to teach her and how confident and proud she feels after her lessons.
We highly recommend Rebecca for any age!"
I have been working with Troy for about 4 months now and I have been making progress at an incredible speed. He is very meticulous in his teachings in the best way and he doesn't let you get away with technical errors without correcting them. He is truly passionate about music and teaching it and will go to any length for his student as long as they are willing to do the same. He always has great insight to the pieces you learn, even at the beginner level, so you don't just learn how to play a song, but you learn where it came from and what it may have been intended for. He doesn't just teach you what keys to play and when, but he constantly encourages you to bring emotion and character to your playing as well, which can be difficult to do with beginner pieces but somehow he had me playing the simplest of songs with feelings and style behind them. He is very patient with his students and constantly encouraging and uplifting. He will not let a lesson go by without giving you positive feedback, even if you come to a lesson completely unprepared because you haven't practiced since you last saw him.
I would highly recommend Troy to anyone that is interested in learning music the right way. He is a quality music professional and will do everything in his power to give you the best education you can receive.
(Note: The only reason I rated teaching environment "Good" instead of "Excellent" is because he has cats so if you have allergies, it might not be the best fit for you.)"
Highly recommend lessons with Steve.
I've been having lessons with Asuka since February of this year and it has been a wonderful experience. As a beginner with absolutely no formal training in singing whatsoever, the whole process of learning to sing opera can seem like an extremely daunting task. She is encouraging and friendly, yet treats her art form with the thoroughness and respect it deserves. She really takes the time to explain proper technique throughout the entire process-- from things like maintaining proper support for your voice and more importantly how to sing opera without hurting yourself. Personally, she is helping me to find potential that I didn't think I had before. I feel very fortunate that I am able to have one on one sessions with someone of Asuka's caliber."
Want to learn how to read guitar tabs? You’ve come to the right place. The traditional method of learning guitar involves scales, reading music, and other music theory skills. It’s a time-honored process that takes practice and intense study. Tablature is a popular alternative way for guitar players to read music. Think of guitar tabs as the Cliffs Notes version of guitar playing. Guitar tabs offer a brief and swift way to learn how to play songs. You’ll learn where to position your fi …
