I would like nothing better than to help you discover and develop your voice's greatest potential. Singing embodies many elements including proper tone production, rhythmic accuracy, proper diction and connecting to and sharing the emotional content of a song. It is a personal journey for singers to learn how to integrate all those elements into their own instruments and I will act as your trusted and supportive guide throughout the process. I have a master's degree in classical vocal performance from the renowned Manhattan School of Music and performed with opera companies in New York City. Currently, in New Orleans, I sing with the joyous Shades of Praise interracial gospel choir. I have had the privilege of studying with some of the finest voice teachers, conductors and coaches that America has to offer and I would love to share that combined knowledge with others. I have also had the agonizing and humbling experience of losing and rebuilding my voice after medical difficulties, ...

I've learned so much in a short period of time with Sheila. She is very easy to get a long with and not intimidating despite her distinguished resume. She has helped me immensely with the awareness of my voice and allowed me to explore my instrument in ways I hadn't try before. Sheila is patient and will continue to approach and explain a technique from different angles (with humour!) until it is grasped. Thanks to her I feel more confident and aware when I'm singing. So thank you very very much!

If you're looking for top-tier, enjoyable, results-driven tutoring, send me a message. I've been helping students ace their next Spanish exam, paper, project, or standardized test, for over 10 years. But more importantly, I build lasting relationships with my students – meeting on a regular basis; covering all aspects of skill-building, test prep, and organization; and acting as a consistent presence in the student's life.

I speak and write fluently in Spanish. But as a native English speaker, I've learned the Spanish language from the ground up, just like my students.

I currently tutor students attending Horace Mann, Riverdale, Collegiate, Cornell University, and University of Cambridge, as well as adults and younger students.

About Jesse

My priority is to help you grow. And everyone learns differently. That's why all of my tutoring is 100% individualized. I teach according to your goals, your learning style, and your challenges. My students get results because their learning is tailored to their needs. I'm a professional teacher

Jesse is exactly what you would want in a tutor. He is extremely knowledgeable and has excellent intuition on how to present information in an understandable way. His lesson plans are extremely flexible to how you are learning the information. Highly recommended if you are looking for a Spanish language tutor.
Theo
I would recommend Jesse for any tutoring need without reservation. In our household, Jesse has helped amplify the Spanish learning for a middle/hs student, helped an older student with the application process for graduate work and worked with someone on writing. He’s phenomenal at all of it for the following reasons: his patience, intelligence and good nature are exceptional; he can work with all temperaments; he will meet your student where they are. Most important: he is systematic and provides real executive functioning support for each task. He is an unusually talented tutor and human being.
Charlie
Highly recommend Jesse as a Spanish tutor! Have been working with Jesse for almost 9 months (2 hrs + / weekly) and my Spanish fluency has rapidly increased over this period. Jesse's lesson plans are highly curated for my specific goals, learning style and interests. It's been a pleasure working with Jesse and appreciate his willingness to accommodate with my busy work / travel schedule.

General Note: I majored in Spanish undergrad, and have explored a number of different way to continue learning in NYC - group classes and language programs have their value but can not complete with in-person, 1v1 instruction.

Mike came recommended through a friend and it's been an incredible experience so far! He's super friendly through his professionalism and was immediately able to assess my past musical experience and learning style- something that I've always taken note of and appreciated. Would absolutely refer to any level of ability/experience.

Mike was a fantastic instructor. He had the perfect balance of encouraging me in my strengths while also challenging me where needed, which pushed me to grow as a musician. He’s highly knowledgeable in the fundamentals and also has great innovative and creative ideas that he’s happy to share! I would definitely recommend getting lessons from Mike!

Mike is an incredibly knowledgeable musician with a genuine knack for teaching. Mike catered our lessons to exactly the material I wanted to learn while helping me grow a deeper understanding of music theory in a way that was both highly informative and fun! "I love love love working with Fawn! I have worked with three other vocal teachers in years past and I feel like I've made more progress with Fawn in the past year than I did in all the years with the other three coaches. I also have a much better understanding of some "bad" habits I've developed over the years. Fawn is great at meeting you where you are, figuring out how best to work with your voice, and provides great feedback. Fawn makes her studio a very comfortable and welcoming space where her students can relax and feel like they're hanging out with a really cool friend who gives excellent advice. The results achieved with Fawn are nothing short of incredible! If you're looking for a place to really work on your vocal instrument whether it be for fun or professionally look no further than here!"
