Ukulele is an interesting instrument with a lot of similar characteristics to guitar. I have been playing ukulele for the past year now and it's substantially easier to play and faster to learn then guitar, but you can develop skills that will transfer over to the guitar.

About Jeremie

I'm a self taught guitarist who has been playing for 20 years. I have played professionally in numerous bands and ensembles ranging from jazz to folk to rock, and I've been writing music for the same length of time. I currently perform with one of my students from TakeLessons named Mackenzie O'Brie

I have lots of experience arranging and composing for the ensembles I am associated with. I am a university professor and director of the jazz department. I write or arrange a piece for the top jazz ensemble each semester. I compose original music for jazz groups I regularly perform in as well. I have arranged for brass quintet, brass tentet and a chamber ensemble of mixed instrumentation.

Dave has been my only serious trumpet teacher leading up to my graduation from college, but I still feel he is set apart from many other teachers. He has deep respect for his students and always wants to see them succeed. He seeks to understand his students and teaches to their needs, not only as musicians but as people. I place immense value on his guidance as I plan to begin graduate studies in trumpet, and will probably seek his guidance again later. Dave's teaching ability is bolstered by his colossal and diverse experience, and I consider myself very fortunate to have been his student.

"I brought my five-year-old son to Molly ten months ago to help prepare him for a choir class. My son wasn't overly enthused at first. With a lot of patience and understanding on Molly’s part, he’s come around to looking forward to their sessions together. He’s now six and can match pitch and learn multi-verse songs. He sings along to his favorite songs in the car although he complains, “Daddy, I don’t want to sing, I just can’t help myself.” That spontaneous urge to break out in song was just what I had hoped for my son. Thank you, Molly!"

How to Be a Singer: Finding Gigs as a Backup Vocalist

Backup singing is a crucial part of great albums and concerts. While it may seem that the lead singer has a tough job, it's easy to forget how challenging it is to seamlessly weave complex harmonies into an overall melody, all without taking over the spotlight. If you’re a singer who doesn’t necessarily want to take center stage, consider a career as a backup singer. Great backup singers get to be a part of some amazing experiences without the harsh glare of fame. It’s a big job, but it's …
