I offer individual lessons for regional Greek violin technique. The lessons are geared for intermediate to advanced violin students, but experience with Greek music is not required.

Violin is the primary melodic instrument of Greek music, so there are many different regional styles and techniques. The objective of these lessons is to learn basic violin techniques from distinct regions across Greece. The lessons focus on rhythm/bowing and ornamentation, which are taught through traditional tunes, and include a basic introduction to maqam and moria.

About Aya

Authentic, tasteful, and experienced, Aya Safiya is an accomplished violinist who has performed at renowned venues such as the Great American Music Hall, as well as festivals in the US and in Greece. Aya began studying both Suzuki classical and traditional Greek violin when she was 7. She has made

I learned everything I know about guitar from Peter, because of him I have an excellent understanding of not only how to play guitar, but how to structure and write music. This has led me to play live music and jam with musicians on a regular basis. He is an amazing guitar instructor, and can teach you whatever you want to learn — I highly recommend him.

I play full time as Associate Principal Horn with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. I teach a wide variety and levels of students and cater to specific goals that each student has. The horn is notorious for being “difficult”, but it doesn’t have to be. I love helping others figure out how to play beautifully and effortlessly on the horn.

About Josiah

I play full time as Associate Principal Horn with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. I have a degree in music performance from Baldwin Wallace University Conservatory of Music (Cleveland, OH) and also did some graduate work at the University of Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music. I’m very

"Kristie taught my son harp for 1.5 years before he left for college. He absolutely loved Kristie. She is patient, and makes the lessons interesting and engaging. She allows students to choose from a selection of music so that they learn how to play something they like. She encourages experimentation and engagement. My son wanted to learn the harp because it was interesting, not because he wanted to be a world class performer. Kristie really got that and made the lessons something he looked forward to every week. And she herself was a world class performer so if that's what you're looking for in a teacher, she can deliver that to. Kristie is a super teacher; my son still keeps in touch with her and says lessons with Kristie were one of the highlights of high school."

"Elaine was my first private voice teacher. She truly understands what the vocal demands are for anyone who is considering a career in musical theatre and gives singers tools to use their natural truthful voices to their best potential without vocal damage. Elaine has worked in the business and it is evident in her work. She is a professional who truly cares for her students successes. Personally, she has provided me with a solid foundation of vocal techinque that has helped me to strengthen and free my instrument. This has allowed me to sing truthfully and share stories with audiences. I would always leave lessons feeling ready to go and sing for another couple of hours because of the freedom Elaine's teachings gave my voice."

3 Reasons Why Piano Players Should Also Learn the Organ

There are many reasons why a music student may find themselves learning to play piano on a keyboard rather than on a baby grand: cost, space, or simply lack of access, for example. Versatility on a range of keyboard instruments is also an extremely useful string for any pianist to have to their bow, and can lead to greater practice and public performance opportunities, and even excellent opportunities to earn a little money on the side. The organ, although not the most prevalent or popular musi …
