Ten years of experience teaching flute, piccolo, and music theory to beginner, intermediate-advanced school age, early college and adult students. My primary goal is to pass on an appreciation and joy for music making to my students. Communication, respect and positivity are important elements present in all of my lessons. I devote time to expanding and stabilizing fundamental skills, as well as learning and experimenting with new techniques. I enjoy challenging my students with new repertoire regularly in order to keep them interested and engaged. I also make sure students always have access to "fun" songs, or pieces they want to play. I strongly believe music lessons should be a growing experience for students at all levels, and tailor each student's lessons to their individual goals.

About Mary
I started playing saxophone in 1994. It was an immediate passion! As the years went on my thirst for music grew and I picked up more instruments. No matter which instrument I play the passion is the same. I like to write and arrange as well so I feel an extreme importance on music theory. I am clas

Unfortunately, I had to cancel the rest of my lessons with Mary because I was becoming too busy with work to stay committed to my lessons and practice. If I ever take lessons again I'll definitely sign up with Mary again, zero complaints.

I have a doctorate in flute performance and teach students of all ages and levels. I cover topics from developing proper form to producing a beautiful tone, creating own musical ideas, performing with self-confidence, developing a helpful warm-up, and preparing for an audition. Many of my students have made honor bands/orchestras, won competitions, and pursued music in their undergraduate/graduate degree. I tailor all lessons for the students and we work together to find the best curriculum for them.
Learning to play flute is not only learning how to be disciplined in your art, but also learning how to be creative and share music with your community. I hope to help you refine your technique as well as exploring all kinds of repertoire for the flute!

I had years of serious music study with critical music teachers who made me embarrassed about mistakes and dread my lessons. With Sarah, the learning is fun and I now look forward to every lesson.

Hello, my name's Olivia! I'm excited to work with flutists of all levels to achieve their goals, find their voices, and have fun with music. Lessons with me are always individually tailored to each student's needs and objectives, combined with enough structure to excel in their studies.
Our lessons will include detailed help with: breathing, sound quality, note reading, music theory, ear training, improvisation, practice routines, that most elusive "musicality", and more! We'll use a variety of exercises, etudes, and duets to build a solid foundation and help you become the best musician you can be.
As a classical musician, I've been playing for 17 years, studying both American and French styles of orchestral woodwind performance, but I originally got my start playing hymns in church. As a professional freelancer in Milwaukee, WI, I regularly play commercial pop, rock, Americana, jazz, and showtunes both for local productions and on the road.

My daughter switched to learning with Roberta after 2 years of flute lessons, and the difference now that she is learning with Roberta has been amazing. With her warmth and enthusiasm, Roberta inspires and encourages my daughter to continuously improve, and my daughter has finally started enjoying playing flute again. I am very happy with the rate at which my daughter is progressing, with her lessons having an equal emphasis on technical skill and musicality."

Looking forward to playing a duet with her without me making a mess. Thank you Amanda!"
