Phil is so wonderful. After I retired I wanted to learn to play the flute, so I signed up for 30 minutes. I signed for 30 because you never know if you and the instructor are going to get along. I discovered that while I was in session I did fairly well. But once home alone, I would end up in tears. I decided to go from learning the flute to learning the clarinet. I was afraid I would have to find another teacher, but no. Phil pulled out his clarinet and I have been happy ever since! He has a calm demeanor, never talks down to you, multi-talented and encourages you. I finally had to go from 30 minutes to an hour. I found I would have about 15 minutes of questions on symbols, word meanings, etc.; which only left me 15 minutes of actual music. So this may also be something to think about.

About Ben
Hi, I'm Ben B., a professional saxophonist and educator. I have been teaching lessons for ten years, including young students as well as professional musicians, and I find it fun and rewarding. I've also taught music at various colleges, and I've written two saxophone method books, which are used in college teaching. In my own learning, I've studied with the best, including earning a doctorate in music from Eastman School of Music. As a performer, I've worked all over the U.S. and performed with great artists like Chris Potter and Dave Rivello.

I like to make lessons enjoyable for students,
but I also push them to learn and grow. My students learn to understand the music they hear. Not only do they learn to read music, they learn to perform with style and expression. I find that students play their best when they love their sound, so I also focus on technique. Overall, my students learn to use their ears and musicianship to be the best musicians they can be.

Ben is a fabulous teacher! I can't sing his praises high enough.
He has a great deal of patience, depth of knowledge and good humor as well.
I consider myself very fortunate to have him as my clarinet teacher.

Ben is a fantastic teacher, HIGHLY recommended!
He is an accomplished musician himself and is a seasoned professional in the fields of teaching, writing, theory and general promotion of the arts.

He is patient and positive in all things.
He quickly identifies areas of a Student's performance that can be addressed easily and directly for noticeable improvement in a short time. He works with what he has (meaning student skill levels across the spectrum) and is able to propel a student forward and help them advance, while remaining fun and upbeat.

The lesson cost is very reasonable and online lessons seem to work out fine. Be sure to watch his Blog regularly because there is always fresh information there that keeps you thinking and motivated to surge forward in your playing.

You will be glad you took instruction with Ben Britton!

Ben is engaging, knowledgeable and patient, qualities any student should appreciate. I certainly appreciated the attention to detail on developing a good tone with a follow-up check, after the actual "tone" lesson was completed. If one puts the work in the advice from Ben will produce results. Look out Chris Potter!

I just had my first lesson with Brett and he customized it according to my individual needs and circumstance. I am passionate about guitar and folk music but have no musical experience. Bretts plan is to start with the very basics and move forward from there. He was very patient with me and his directions were easy to follow. Though I am a senior I feel like I am 20 years old again and learning a new skill. Thanks Brett

About Scott
Through formal and self- instructed lessons from age 12, I've learned country, folk, blues, rock, and metal techniques and formed several local bands as lead vocalist and lead/rhythm guitarist.
Writing and recording my own music has been a hobby for over 30 years.
Teaching new guitarists is very rewarding to me. To see the light come on and watch a student perform a song, express themselves musically, and create their own composition is an awesome experience.
An active music enthusiast from a young age, I learned clarinet technique and music theory from age 9 through public schools, perf
orming in orchestra and marching band.

I loved my guitar lessons from Mr. Smith. He made learning the guitar fun and easy. I also liked the short devotionals we did. I would definitely recommend Mr. Smith to anyone who wants to learn the guitar. Her is a great teacher!

I have known Gary for a while now, but only recently started taking lessons with him. He is very helpful and professional for every lesson. He answers all my questions and has suggested materials for me to practice in order to improve my playing. I have already learned a lot from the few lessons we have had. I enjoy our lessons and look forward to our next one!
