First lesson and Justin was great. Our daughter really took to him.

My son is almost 9 and has been playing for about 2 years. His last teacher provided a solid foundation but Justin has taken lessons to the next level. He sets reasonable expectations but my son is more excited to practice every day because he feels challenged. So far so good. I would highly recommend.

Justin is awesome! My 8 year old daughter looks forward to his lessons every week. She has had 4 lessons so far and is progressing each week. He is extremely patient and communicates very well with her. We love that he is able to come to our home to teach. He is a great teacher and I would definitely recommend him.

Analyzing a piece of music is almost like solving a puzzle. The only difference is, this puzzle often has multiple solutions. This is what makes music theory a special subject because for many composers who created pieces before modern day music theory, we are merely guessing their intentions but have no definitive answer. The only way to master this puzzle-solving process is repetition, repetition, and more repetition. Teaching students how to first dinstinguish the pieces of the puzzle from one another, then learn to break them down, takes time and patience. The most important task for the tutor is to let the student work through the puzzle with minimal interjections so they can understand how each piece fits together and enjoy the mystery of theory and analysis.

"I've always been passionate about singing, so much so that I've based much of my life and career around my voice. While I love singing and would say that I was able to cultivate my voice to the point where I'd consider myself talented, there has always been an aspect that I felt I could improve upon. When I first started lessons with James I was amazed with the strides I was taking, as well as how kind, helpful, and encouraging he was. I can honestly say he helped me become the singer I hoped to be."
