I have been teaching flute for 22 years. I have an earned Masters degree in music and enjoy teaching students of all ages. I am happily married with 5 children at home--4 of them are musicians as well (the youngest is 4).. Students will quickly learn not only the basics of music theory, but will be playing songs as early as their first lesson. It is extremely rewarding watching students have fun, excel, and fall in love with making music. I look forward to working with you.

Lessons with me are a complete learning experience. Everything that I do in flute lessons is geared toward helping students become the best flutist he or she can be regardless of where he or she comes from. In addition to teaching flute, I also make sure that I teach music history, music theory, and body awareness in flute lessons. My goal is to help young flutists become great musicians. I can't wait to get in touch with you!

About Karina

Hi there! My name is Karina Eijo, and I work with young flutists who are sick and tired of struggling alone (been there, done that, bought the t-shirt). I remind them that they are capable of doing anything that they set their minds to, and I give them the tools to learn how to practice so that th

You love the flute and don’t know where to begin. You know you love its sweet, haunting sound, but aren’t sure what style you want to learn. Or maybe you know what style of music you are most interested in, but lessons feel intimidating. You might even be an adventurous type who is interested in studying flute music from different parts of the world.

Look no further. I have experience in rock ‘n’ roll, classical, contemporary, jazz and latin jazz.
In addition to the western concert flute, I play a variety of other flutes, including the alto flute, ocarina and the Andean quena.
Lessons include posture, breathing, tone production, music theory, technique and fun.

I hold a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music in flute performance, and a Master of Music in jazz studies. I have over 10 years of experience teaching the flute.

I am flexible, open minded and happy to tailor my services to the interests and learning style of the student. All ages and experience levels welcome.

Ammon will greatly improve your tone quality right away and also understands how to help use your body in a more efficient and comfortable way. She is fluent in more different styles of music than any other flutist I've met and plays a variety of flutes, ocarinas and whatever else she can get her hands on so whatever you're interested in she's probably already experienced in it. The space she teaches in is quiet, clean and fun to be in and easy to get to from a few different subways. Most importantly she is patient, thoughtful, succinct, intelligent and fun. You will enjoy your lessons and learn a lot.

Ammon is an excellent musician, flute player and composer. It has always been a great pleasure and I have learnt a lot of things by working with Ammon.

Ammon has also a broad knowledge both in Jazz and Classical and I would reccommend studying with Ammon

In my studio, I believe that my role is to steer students toward a deeper understanding of themselves, their instrument, and their relationship to music. I tailor my teaching to the needs of my individual students, who currently range from age 7 to adult, often adding improvisation and extended techniques to increase my students€™ awareness of the potential of the flute as a channel for one€™s creativity.

About Roberta

Flutist, Roberta M., is equally at home playing classical and new music. I Care If You Listen has extolled her “lush, full tones… even among the best professionals, not many flute players sound so compelling in a lower register.” Praising her “extreme adventurousness,” New York Concert Review said

Roberta was patient and was obviously an experienced teacher. I teach and I understand what it takes to put a lesson together so that the student gets the most out of it, while pushing the student to do better, but not too much to discourage them from moving forward. She hits that sweet spot! I would recommend her to anyone who was serious about learning.

I am experienced in most styles: Jazz, Pop, Classical, Latin, R&B, Funk, Rock etc…
After discussing your goals, we will figure out the best way to accomplish those goals!

I am a really easy-going person and I want you to have FUN and discover new stuff every time you play your instrument.

After we figure out what you want to play and what areas we want to work on, I will make a special curriculum for you! Each student has a different curriculum that is specific to his or her level and learning style. I give a weekly curriculum after every lesson so you don’t need to worry about forgetting what we worked on at our lesson and you can work on it at home. Looking at past curriculum also provides an excellent way to look at a student’s progress.

One of the most important aspects of playing a woodwind instrument is achieving a good tone. I will help you get a good tone by teaching the fundamentals: from how to hold your instrument, how to blow, etc…

As a woodwind specialist, I have developed my flute technique at the college level. Beginner students will learn the basic foundational skills (such as embouchure, air, posture, hand position, tonguing, and fingerings) in a fun and encouraging atmosphere where the student's needs always come first. Intermediate students can expect to be challenged with more demanding work with scales, arpeggios, etudes, and selected flute repertoire. But don't fear! I will guide you through interactive duets and listening exercises to hone your talent.

About Dr. Nick

Hello! If you would like to learn music, challenge your abilities, and express yourself by connecting with your inner artist, I can be your guide. If you want to get over the anxiety of playing music in front of others, I can help you transform that tension into confidence. Dr. Nick S. is a native

"Phil is so wonderful. After I retired I wanted to learn to play the flute, so I signed up for 30 minutes. I signed for 30 because you never know if you and the instructor are going to get along. I discovered that while I was in session I did fairly well. But once home alone, I would end up in tears. I decided to go from learning the flute to learning the clarinet. I was afraid I would have to find another teacher, but no. Phil pulled out his clarinet and I have been happy ever since! He has a calm demeanor, never talks down to you, multi-talented and encourages you. I finally had to go from 30 minutes to an hour. I found I would have about 15 minutes of questions on symbols, word meanings, etc.; which only left me 15 minutes of actual music. So this may also be something to think about."

Not many people can truly be considered experts in both, and Erin definitely demonstrates her fine artistry and intimate knowledge of flute pedagogy time and again. I have witnessed her perform in both capacities, and any student studying under her should feel at ease, knowing they will have a top notch education."

"Our son began taking lessons with Gretchen starting the summer of 2016. She was his first flute instructor and we are glad he started out with her. In addition to her just being a great teacher, the opportunities she offers really increase the value of her as an instructor. The idea of learning to critique and be critiqued, performing in front of live audiences through GIFT, and having classes with other known instructors allow the students to improve general musicianship as well as flute playing."
