Learn to play one of the most recognizable instruments in the orchestra. The flute plays beautiful melodies and embellishments to add to the mood of many pieces. I can teach you how to have a good tone, how to keep your embuchure strong, and how to keep your hands from cramping up. I will use scales, breathing drills, and support training to allow you to reach your goals. I can take you as far as playing in a mid grade orchestra, and intermediate solo pieces. Contact me to talk about your goals and set up lessons.

I am always most concerned with meeting you where you currently are as a musician and building you up from there. So whether you are an out right just starting out beginner, a budding prospect that wants to continue to grow into a knockout musician, to a more advanced individual that wants to achieve their greatest potential and kill it on your next audition, solo or even recital. Each person has their own distinctly unique reasons for learning to play an instrument or how to sing and I like to work with the individual at that base level to meet your needs. For example if your only goal is to be able to pull out your instrument and play for church on Sundays I can help you get there. Or if you are someone who just wants to be able to say I learned how to play I can also help you. No matter what your individual goals and purposes are I can help you make it happen!

About Kiah
I've been playing music for more than a decade and the thing that has really stuck out to me that I would say is the most important is this: Never stop practicing. Some people are naturally gifted and pick up skills very easily. Some people aren't quite so lucky. The thing though is that being natu

I begin by focusing on the basics of the flute, such as knowing the parts of the flute, how to hold the flute with good posture, making that first sound, having the correct embouchure, and some breathing techniques. Then we progress to learning basic note-reading and rhythms, while incorporating several beginner flute fingerings, then moving on to learning simple songs.
I typically use the Accent on Achievement series for flute or the Rubank flute series or a combination of the two, depending on the student's ability/level.
If the student plays in band at school, we may also take time to work on music for that as well, giving the student the individual attention that they may miss in a group/classroom setting. Flute lessons are also a great way to keep up with practice when school is out for holiday breaks or summer.
About Donna
I have been teaching music for 21 years, both in private lesson and classroom settings. I have a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Shenandoah University & Conservatory and I have experience teaching all age groups, from age 3 through senior adults, and every age in between. I enjoy teachin
