I am interested in the needs of each individual student. I aim to prepare each student to be able to fluently read and understand musical concepts during the course of study. Students can explore classical and popular genres, as well as participate in recitals to help improve their understanding and appreciation of music.

*** Specialties ***
For beginning students, I emphasize the importance of rhythmic comprehension, correct technique and theoretical understanding as an important musical foundation. Depending on the students' level and interests, I then customize my lesson plan and assignments to their specific needs.

Singing lessons

Jina made Kylie feel comfortable during lessons and allowed her to participate in one of her recitals. I feel the lessons taught her how to vocalize and breathe properly and help bring her out of her shell as she is normally kinda shy in a crowd and new people in general.
Thank you Jina, it was a pleasure. :) We look forward to seeing you after Summer.

I would bring my guitar, metronome, pen, etc.
The students should have their own guitar and amp if electric.
They should also have the appropriate books - mel bay note reading and a blank music staff and tab book.

*** Specialties ***
My method focuses on learning scales, chords & arpeggios and then showing the student how to apply them through knowledge of music theory. They will learn how to create music on their own as well as understand the music they listen to. I will also show my students how to play various popular songs and how to improvise. My areas of expertise are in rock, pop, blues, rockabilly, metal, country and jazz. I also teach note reading, fingerstyle and classical guitar.

About Rich
Music has always been my biggest passion. I started playing guitar at the age of 10, and I haven't been able to put it down since. In grade school I started my first gigs playing in bands and spent all of my time outside of school playing guitar.

Coming from a family of eight where there wasn't much money for schooling, I put myself through high school and college gigging, and teaching.

I earned a music degree from Wayne State University in performance guitar, studying under the likes of Joe Fava and Charles Postlewate. At the same time playing extensive clubwork, shows, concerts, studio work and teaching.

My styles include virtually all elements of guitar. Rock, Blues, Metal, Country, Classical and Jazz.

In "2006", I opened up a guitar studio in South Lyon Mi, where I taught, along with lessons from my home.

*** Lesson D
etails ***
I take a very serious, professional approach to my music studies and my teaching, but with a very humorous, and free-flowing concept to keep my students interested. I am very patient, and truly care about the progress of each student.

Each student that I teach has a different lesson structure depending on what the student wishes to accomplish. I tailor each lesson to help them move closer at a rapid pace to whatever style of music they have the strongest interest in. But because guitar is such a diverse instrument with many different established forms of technique, I do advocate developing proficiency in multiple styles of playing.

While I completely approve of learning to play music from TAB which expedites the playing of actual songs, I highly recommend that beginning guitarists learn to read music as you never know what they might end up doing with their knowledge. (Studio work, shows, teaching, or other scenarios where reading music is essential).

Starting to learn any instrument can be a challenge. But with persistence, guidance, and actual progress, learning how to play an instrument can be of the most rewarding experiences, regardless of your age. With my help, you or your child will be able to enjoy the experience of discovering how fulfilling playing can be.

*** Studio Equipment ***
lessons in living room, music stands, acoustic & electric guitars, amps/cables

*** Travel Equipment ***
Will provide a loaner guitar for a lesson if necessary.

*** Specialties ***
All styles - Rock, Country, Jazz, Classical, Blues, Metal

Look Forward to seeing you!

We live in a rural area with no private trumpet instructors, so when my son was begging for lessons, we looked to the internet and found Michael via Take Lessons. My son took lessons for several months until he got busy with sports, and we had a phenomenal experience with Michael. He was always prompt and very encouraging. He communicated well and shared lesson materials well in advance. He even checked in on Aiden during the week to make sure he was practicing. As a musician and piano teacher myself, I initially had my doubts about the quality of online lessons, but my expectations were vastly exceeded. If you're looking for a trumpet teacher, please consider Michael. You will be so happy you did! It is wonderful to hear how my son's playing ability has been elevated. We will definitely choose Michael when life slows down and my son is ready to take lessons again. Thanks again Michael!!!

Great attitude every time you came in to practice. You can tell he has a passion for what he does and that he wants you to learn and understand guitar. It was an incredible experience getting to work with him. I still have every song and music theory paper he gave me, and I still study them. All in all he is a great teacher.

About Cole
I am a professional guitarist from Kentucky. I studied music at Western Kentucky University from 2014-2017 with an emphasis in guitar under Professor John Martin. I have played guitar for about 15 years in a variety of styles ranging from classical, jazz, blues, rock, metal, finger style, and many others. I have also studied under the phenomemal jazz-fusion guitarist Dani Rabin from the band Marbin.

I have worked with artists and producers such as Chris Robertson (Black Stone Cherry), John King (Sixth Floor, South Bound, Sons of the Revolution, and John King and the Mud River Revival), Kenton Embry (Nashville Session player and touring artist), Russell Brooks (The Schools, 00 The Rabbit, Solo artist), David Barrick (Barrick Studios), Jason Simpson (Colter Wall).

I have an extensive knowledge of music theory which I can teach student
s, as well as ear training, harmony, and sight reading just to name a few and depending on the wishes of the student.

Students can have their lessons catered to the music and styles they wish to pursue. Every student has different goals, some really want to learn theory and read music. Others may simply want to learn to strum a few chords. Whatever the goal, I can provide the instructions to help the student succeed!

Hey there Trumpeters and Potential Trumpeters!

A few more notes about myself and my background...

I've spent most of my life working as a musician, since 1999, when I was 13. I took to the trumpet on the suggestion of an amazing public school music teacher when I showed up asking to join the jazz band without the ability to play an instrument or even read music...(had no idea what I was doing at the time)!

However, I started taking lessons with him that summer and by the end of the school year I'd gone from bottom chair to lead in every group at school and within a couple of years started performing with my teachers and with professional musicians in the greater Seattle area, then hitting the recording studios. By 15 I was invited to be a guest musician with the Seattle Symphony.

I studied under the Principal Trumpeter of the Seattle
Ballet company from 14 to 18 and went to college with a passion for music. I studied music at the University of Maine and University of Nebraska at Omaha, performing, touring and teaching along the way. During that time, I joined a few small jazz ensembles, along with the university bands as well as a 20+ irish-rock group that I continue to play and tour with today.

I have also worked as a firefighter for over five years, and recently completed my training at Creighton University and earned my license to serve as an EMT in the state of Nebraska...maybe going for paramedic as well. I love working with and helping people!

I have a number of students in the Omaha area now and I would love to meet you (whether for online for online or face to face for in-house lessons) and see if you would like me to help you become the amazing trumpeter and musician that you want to be!

Thanks for your consideration and I look forward to meeting you!
- Scott

Meghan is amazing! I loved taking lessons from her. She is very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. It was important for me to have a vocal coach that made me feel comfortable and welcome to experiment and make mistakes, and she definitely did that. She also taught me excerises that I could easily do on my own that helped strengthen my singing muscles. I honestly can't say enough good things about Meghan. I highly recommend her! If you have the chance to take lessons from her, DO IT. You won't regret it. I improved so much!

As a vocalist, Megan excels in both experience and knowledge! From the time she was young to date, she's been trained musically in both vocals and instrumentals providing a solid base from which to instruct. As a instructor she is gentle and patient, while pointing her students to best vocal techniques and methodology.

Meghan is a fantastic choice to develop vocal skills at any level! I highly recommend her as a instructor and musician. She is overall great person to be around and work with!
