I started playing the clarinet when I was in 4th grade, and I still have the same instrument!

I've been teaching clarinet for over 30 years. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to assemble your instrument, place your reed correctly, and know where your fingers go. As time goes on you'll be able to read music and play simple songs. Any beginning clarinet book will get us started. In addition to your clarinet and book, you will also need extra reeds, cork grease, and a cleaning swab. As you progress, a a metronome may be helpful. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to play a few folk songs and as time goes on you'll be able to treble clef fluently. I specialize in classical music, typically use traditional band method books, and have the following tools available for your lessons: metronome, and laptop. I have about 3 years of experience playing and teaching clarinet, and can teach at a beginner level for children in school concert, marching band or orchestra.

I took up clarinet several years ago and have done some writing and recording for clarinet. I'm happy to offer my skills and to work with novice players on proper fingering and technique, embouchure, music notation reading and theory, phrasing, and musicality.

I began playing clarinet over 12 years ago and have been passionate about it ever since. I have taught music, as well as performed solos, duets, quartets, concerts, and more. I have a minor in music and have won scholarships for performance. As a teacher, I know how to make reading and playing music accessible and successful for all!
