About Claire
I've been teaching piano, cello, voice and theory in Los Angeles for over thirty years, helping students develop their particular interests in music and to encourage them to reach their personal goals. I love the classics and many of my students want to play popular music, contemporary sounds and jazz and that is fine too. I received my BA in music at UCLA and a Master's at Cal State Northridge. I conduct vocal and bell choirs, run a concert series, play chamber music, sing in a band and teach in the Community College District in addition to running my private studio.

*** Lesson Details ***
My students work on technical skills such as playing scales and chords at the beginning of each lesson since these are the building blocks of the music we wish to play. I expect students to practice but I understand that life is complicated and som
e days that may mean you only have ten minutes. I try to explain that a little bit every day will help you become a better player rather than working for two hours the day before a lesson. I have lots of good books that I assign that have fun materials with strong melodies. I design everyone's program according to their desires. After a half year, a beginning piano student might expect to be able to play the three essential chords ( the ones that harmonize so many songs) while playing the melody in the other hand. Cellists can expect to be able to play at least four scales, some in two octaves, and understand the notes in the first position within six months.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Room for parents to wait, dedicated music space, Yamaha piano, great acoustics for singing

*** Specialties ***
Classical, Popular, Contemporary, Christian

I am 43 years old and was scared to take on such a difficult instrument but I really wanted to learn how to play the beautiful cello. I had my first lesson and am very happy with Claire. She is friendly, accommodating, patient, and explains her lesson in a clear and easy manner (as easy as you can get with the cello). I had a lot of questions and she was very open in answering all of them. Although I am still at the very very beginnings of my journey, I am very excited to continue with the cello lessons, thanks to Claire.

The first lesson was excellent. I completed my first private cello lesson since playing about 44 years ago. It was wonderful. The teacher is very organized and very nice. I thought maybe the lesson would be a lesson of remembering what I had forgotten from so long ago, but I actually learned new things. I'm excited to attend the next lesson.

About Paul
Hi! My name is Paul and I'd love to share the joy of playing the guitar with you! I have been a professional musician and teacher for over 35 years. I know much about playing the guitar and being an artist. I am passionate about music, which is why lessons with me are so fun. I know how to customize a program for the motivated student that will bring out the potential of the student at all levels. I will give the student a complete and practical program for advancement and help he or she discover their own talents at a pace that works for them. I even on occasion will conduct blues jams and other challenges such as recording and how to do a You Tube video production that will give the student a chance to use their developing skills by themselves and with others. Here is feedback from one of the parents of a student of mine:

"Alex progressed much further with guitar than he did with piano and he actually got to the point where he enjoyed playing on his own. That was a great accomplishment and very impressive to me...you helped instill some discipline and over the course of your instruction, Alex learned a lot. You were always positive with him, even when that was difficult, and I admired that and still appreciate it. I always looked forward on Sunday mornings to hearing the material the two of you were working on and I know he enjoyed his lesson with you."

*** Lesson Details ***
As a teacher, one of my biggest goals is to keep my students motivated and get them enthused about their music and committed to daily practice. I will strive to inspire my students, and ensure that all the while, they are having the time of their life! Practice and commitment are key. Students' curricula vary according to the student's goals and strengths and weaknesses. All students will learn how to play in tune and in time, know their fundamentals, work with music theory and learn how to use written materials. (And they will have fun learning!) More advanced students can learn about blues and jazz improvisation, slide guitar and also participate in blues jams with other students, record, and You Tube video production.

*** Studio Equipment ***
All kinds of guitar and bass guitar equipment and portable hard disc recording equipment for student demo recordings.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Students need a well functioning guitar, music stand, guitar tuner and metronome. Students will also need a notebook to organize written lessons I will hand out.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in blues and jazz mostly, but also have vast knowledge of rock music from it's blues roots to the more modern styles. I also can play in country style, and I play blues slide guitar.

Paul's enthusiasm for the bass is infectious and a great motivator. I actually feel like I may be able to learn to play! In just one lesson I learned more than 5 hours of You Tube tutorials could have taught me.

Great Teacher

I played a little guitar throughout my life but was lacking an understanding of how the instrument works. I found myself strumming a few cords here and there but never with focus or improvement. After only three lessons with Paul, I'm now jamming to rock and the blues!Paul was quickly able to access my level of playing and I'm now understanding how the fretboard works and most importantly having lots of fun during lessons and practice. He teaches with passion and doesn't simply open a book but rather instills his lifelong experience and philosophy into lessons. Many can teach the mechanics of guitar but with Paul, you'll also understand the soul.

Paul Rocks !!

I just had my 2nd lesson with Paul and felt inspired to write a review. I have wanted to learn guitar for many, many years now. In the past, I have always gotten frustrated -or bored- and gave up before I ever even learned a chord. Our 1st lesson, Paul started me with some very basic mechanics. It was just the right amount of information to keep me interested and challenged but not so much that I was overwhelmed the 1st week. From just 15 -30 minutes a day of practicing, I have already gained some flexibility in my fingers and am beginning to have a "feel" for the instrument. I have seen more improvement and learned more from Paul and the exercises he has given me in just 2 lessons than I have collectively ever learned from any other teacher in the past or any book or online tutorial. His knowledge of the instrument, as well as music theory, is vast and he knows how to break it down into digestible bits for maximum benefit to the student. So I am not only learning to play guitar, I am also being introduced to music theory in a very easy to understand manner. He is very patient and creates a safe and supportive environment in which to learn comfortably. I am SO glad I found him!!! His way of teaching really works or me ~ I feel hopeful, inspired and motivated for the first time ever in attempting to learn this instrument. Thank you Paul and Thank You Take Lessons !!

Jihye is one of the best Korean teachers ever! My mother and I are learning Korean and we needed an expert and that could teach us the basics. We were total beginners until we met her. She taught us the alphabet and phrases. We are currently still taking lessons, and without doubt we will be fluent as well. She is very nice and also cares very much about our learning. She is overall a great Korean teacher and we would recommend her to everyone we know!

As a teacher, I love to see my students take pride in their improvements and strive to be a leader. I have taught many students at all levels. From teaching them how to read music while providing the fundamentals of piano playing, to college level of auditioning for significant competitions. I particularly like to focus on students who are interested in band and orchestra at school. It’s the joy of teaching to see kids marvel at different tones and musicality they can produce.

For all my lessons I include music theory and ask that students try their best to learn how music is connected and formed. Learning flute is a rewarding process, so please be patient and open-minded. Feel free to ask me any questions and I look forward to meeting you!

Ronnie comes to our home to teach our 3 kids piano and guitar. Not only is he talented and patient, he always keeps their interest alive! Ronnie also focuses considerably on musical theory which is often something sorely lacking in musical instruction. Additionally, he's really just a wonderful guy with a great attitude and spirit!

Miss Angela is a wonderful, resourceful, fun, energetic, experienced, knowledgeable and likable acting teacher.
My two daughters have attended the past 4 years at PAW camp at West LA location where Miss Angela is the Camp Director.
We have recommended the camp to many local friends and families and they too attended and agreed.
Recently my daughters took after school child acting classes and again we are very happy.
I would highly consider and recommend Miss Angela as a acting mentor and positive role model for your children.

I emphasize achieving the student’s long-term goals, while always making sure the lessons are a pleasant and fun experience!

In her latest upcoming project, her ensemble features a punchy rhythm section and a melodic horn section that delivers a raw and compelling sound which invites listeners

She has performed at major venues such as the Valley Performing Arts Center, where she conducted a full orchestra for the premiere of her orchestral piece “A Path Unfolds,” and sang with the CSUN Jazz A Band. She has also performed at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, the Colts Stadium in Indianapolis, the Alamodome, the Georgia Dome, the Hall of Liberty and at Los Angeles Community College where she premiered her latest piece “Emerge” with a jazz combo, which featured legendary drummer Gene Coye, and a six-piece horn section.

Sophia was so kind and helpful. I wanted to get my 7 year old Josh involved in music and figured piano would be a good instrument to learn the basics on, especially since I already have a keyboard at home. Sophia arrived for his first lesson on time and was very polite. I sat in on the lesson and Josh was comfortable for usually being shy around girls. Sophia introduced him to basic technique and showed him some of the cool things a pianist can do. She even asked him what he liked to listen to and what he would want to play in the future, giving him a personal reason to practice. I hope he continues as long time and Sophia definitely makes that seem like a possibility. I cannot recommend her enough!!

Hey there !

My name is Jefferson, I've been playing the guitar for more than 13 years and I'm passionate about music in general.
I've been teaching for about 8 years.

I started my musical journey as a teenager playing in rock n' roll bands in my hometown of Paris. I performed in some of the biggest venues in France such as The Bataclan Theater and The Olympia Hall.

After graduating from high school I attended the best Jazz Music school in Paris: IMEP College of Music and graduated with a bachelor's degree in 2016.
During my time at school I started teaching more and more students on a daily basis. I was always either learning myself or teaching people all day long. At night, I was still performing with a various number of music ensembles and bands.

After graduating from IMEP, I moved to Los Angeles to attend the Musician'
s Institute in Hollywood. I graduated with a Certificate in Guitar Performance in 2017.
During my time at MI I joined multiple local californian bands and I kept on doing what I was doing in my home country: playing live music every week.

I've been performing with rock n' roll artists, jazz big bands, pop singers, DJs and many more.
I have a big experience of recording sessions as well, working with solo artists, TV/movie producers, commercial companies...

I enjoy playing and teaching all music genres in general but I'm into rock, blues, jazz, hard rock, funk and electronic music especially. No matter what level you are, I’d love to help you improve your playing, technique and knowledge.

From basic chords to different chord voicings, scales, modes, exercises, finger strength, speed, arpeggios, reading, music theory or ear training, I look forward teaching you and sharing passion for music!
