About Omar
My passion is sharing music with people.

I love to answer questions and learn things I don't know, I know a good amount about guitar repair, improvised instrument building, how to buy a good instrument and not spend to much, and I have a vast knowledge of obscure instruments, and audio production as well. Feel free to ask me questions, and expect informative non-judgmental answers.

I have spent a lot of time developing as a vocalist, songwriter, composer and producer, which helps me in all aspects of my music and teaching, I'm always looking to learn more. I have played in heavy metal bands, but have also done solo acoustic singer/songwriting stuff, I have produced raw hip-hop but also love old soul and ska tunes. Being well rounded musically and drawing from lots of influences is what makes me a good teacher and shapes me as a m
usician.

As an artist I have been featured on MTV, Rollingstone, BBC, NBC, VOA, ARY, Alt Press, LA times, documentaries and more. I have been playing guitar and recording music since childhood and am a classically trained sitar player and Indian classical vocalist.

I am a great teacher for someone who wants to write songs, or is into Indie, rock, pop, reggae, metal, hip-hop, and electronica.

*** Lesson Details/ What to Expect ***

You can expect a custom, fun and attentive one on one lesson. I am thorough and patient. I expect you to love music and put forth effort. I'm laid back, I will work as fast or as slow as you need. I prefer a total immersion technique and get my students playing right away. This boosts confidence and fosters interest because once a student enjoys playing you don't have to convince them to practice.

By the first lesson you will be familiar with the instrument and it's parts, and playing your first chord.

In 3-6 months you will be playing guitar with a greater knowledge of chords, basic harmony and be able to play scales and songs.

Once you have a foundation of chords we can explore more specific music subjects and lessons will become more personalized: songwriting, guitar tones, musicology, making a DIY record, shredding like a metalhead, I can guide you to help you achieve your goals.

I receive a very large number of student requests everyday, So to keep things organized please keep the following in mind:

Takelessons is a wonderful service that I use to handle all my payments and scheduling. I want to focus on the teaching, so they help with the rest.

I have a 24 hour cancelation policy, please give me at least 24 hour advanced notice, or you will forfeit your lesson credit.

All scheduling changes or time off can be requested right from the website for your connivence. it's super easy!

Use an email that you will actually check to sign up for notifications, it's not spam, it's to help us all stay organized.

Remember to please reserve your spot by paying in advance. (I have a waiting list of people asking me for those super convenient days, and times)

Online students please make sure you have the highest connection speed available to you. This will ensure you get the most out of the lessons.

*** Equipment ***

Please make sure you have your own instrument, and a note book or device to take notes with.

I had my first lesson with Omar and he was great! It's my first time to play any string instrument, but since I do have some experience with music, he tailored the lesson time to me. He was also enthusiastic about the music/songs I wanted to learn and I left my first lesson feeling excited to continue practicing.

I am trained in piano, but never had any guitar or ukulele experience prior to meeting Omar. Omar figured out my aspirations and skill level in no time and got me strumming songs in less than 4 weeks. Now I lull my kids to sleep with my ukulele and they sing along.

About Summer
I believe that the most important aspect of teaching music is creating a positive and individualized learning environment while simultaneously teaching the necessary technique and knowledge to play your instrument both successfully and confidently.

Above all, our lessons will focus on reaching your musical potential. Curriculum for our lessons will draw from variety of methods and aspects of music education. These include music theory, ear training, sight-reading, body mapping, technique, improvisation skills, arranging, and composition. I place a great emphasis on learning repertoire from a variety of genres of music.

Students will have the opportunity to share what they learn at spring and winter recitals and to participate in group lessons on a regular basis.

I have 9 years of experience teaching piano, guitar, music th
eory, and ear training to students of all ages, levels, and musical backgrounds, including students with special needs.

I am currently completing my Masters degree at University of California, Irvine. Prior to my graduate studies, I was based in New York City, where I ran a private music studio, performed throughout the city with my jazz quintet, and worked as an accompanist and musical director. I graduated with honors from Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA with degrees in Performance and Audio Engineering.

Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions about lessons or scheduling!

Summer is fantastic. We first had her as an in-home instructor in Manhattan, and now that she has moved to California, we have her online. She is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about music, has introduced the kids to different genres, music theory and online music practice apps to keep them engaged and learning. She gives them homework "listening assignments" to help develop their ear for music. The kids have grown so much in their love of music and their ability to sight-read, play and understand music theory.

Summer is the best! She has taught my children throughout their middle childhood into their teens and during this time has introduced them to many different genres of music, which they have particularly enjoyed. In that way, she has not only taught them to play the piano excellently but has instilled in them an appreciation for music. In addition to being super-nice, patient, open-minded and very well organized, she challenges her students ceaselessly and pushes them to reach their potential. She employs a variety of different teaching methods and adjusts her style to the learner in front of her. My children related to her extremely well and they loved her.
Highly recommend

Summer is one of the best piano teachers I ever had. She makes learning piano really fun and is extremely patient with her students. It was sometimes a challenge taking lessons on a consistent basis due to my work schedule but we always managed to get around it somehow. I really enjoyed my lessons and feel that they have helped improve my skills tremendously. Thanks Summer!!

About Patrick
I have been teaching group and private lessons for about 30 years now. I've been a contract teacher for The City Of Chino Hills for about 10 years, and have taught for the cities of Chino, Diamond Bar and Walnut as well.

I started my teaching business, LearnGuitare around 2006 and teach group and private lessons at its studio in Chino, CA.

I have performed since the late 70s in many bands and have met an played with a lot of good musicians. In the 80s, we were part of the scene that rocked the Sunset Strip and all over Southern California. Today, I perform with my wife in our Pat Benatar tribute band, HeartBreaker which was founded in 1999. We have performed many concerts since then, and have performed in front of thousands! We have performed in Japan for our naval troops, Canada, Arizona, Las Vegas as well as many California Casin
os, Concerts In The Park and other venues.

LearnGuitare is my passion and I look forward to working you and to help you reach your musical goals!

*** Lesson Details ***
I'm a fun teacher! I've been teaching guitar to all ages for over 30 years...group as well as private.

While I make the lessons fun, I also make them very informative. I am serious and passionate about teaching and I make sure that my students walk away from each lesson saying, "Wow, that was a cool lesson!"

Here is a description of the basic beginning courses I offer:

GUITAR FOR YOUNG BEGINNERS (Ages 5-8)
This course is designed to introduce younger students to the basics of guitar playing by incorporating an extensive repertoire of well-known children’s songs carefully graded into an easy-to-follow format that provides the right start to music education. Students will be introduced to playing both single note melodies and simplified chords, incorporating quarter, half and whole notes along with their equivalent rests. Students will be taught to read music and will be introduced to many basic musical terms. The material is presented with colorful illustrations throughout to stimulate and maintain young students’ interest.

BEGINNING GUITAR FOR KIDS, TEENS & ADULTS (Ages 9-adult)
Students will enjoy an easy to follow format that provides a solid music education while teaching students to play single note melodies. This course is for anyone “just learning how to play” acoustic and/or electric guitar. Lessons include tuning, first position melody playing and chords, rhythms through eighth notes, solos, ensembles, strumming and picking.

BEGINNING ROCK & BLUES GUITAR FOR TEENS & ADULTS Ages 12+
Students will enjoy a fun, easy to follow introduction to playing Rock & Blues guitar. This class covers essential basics based on rock, metal and blues styles including the 12 bar blues progression, basic rhythm patterns through eighth notes including the shuffle feel, open position chords, power chords, power chord extensions, rock & blues comping, minor and major pentatonic and blues scales, improvisation and song structure.

Unlike other beginning guitar courses that teach students to play songs like 'Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star,' 'Jingle Bells' and 'This Old Man,' students are introduced to jamming on simple rhythm and lead patterns featuring cool riffs and licks that sound like BOSTON, METALLICA, GUNS N’ ROSES, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, NIRVANA and TRADITIONAL & MODERN BLUES.

For students with more playing experience, we can design a lessons program to fit your needs to get you to the next level of musicianship.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Amps for bass and guitar, audio for teaching, guitars and bass guitars, teaching tools, music stands, cords, metronome, lounge for parents to sit during the lessons.

*** Specialties ***
I teach many genres of music to students of all levels. Young beginners from the age of 5, children, teens and adults (it’s NEVER too late to start). I work with many styles from the most basic folk to the heaviest of metal and just about all in between. Fingerstyle, Travis Picking, Classical, Early Rock n Roll, Classic Rock, Blues, Jazz, Country are just some of the styles I work with.

Theory and reading standard notation is very important for any beginning student to learn, especially children. As students progress in their playing ability, I add music based on their interests as well. I am a music teacher first and a guitar teacher second. I don’t just teach students how to play their favorite songs either, I teach the hows and the whys while we use the student’s favorite songs as a template.

In addition to that, when a student is ready, I also introduce how to improvise in each of the genres so that the student can create their own melodies and really make music.

I also welcome students that have a little or more experience as well. Perhaps you know a few chords and can play pretty well at the moment, but maybe you have “hit the ceiling”. I can help you reach the next level of musicianship.

Whether you are a beginning guitar student, a songwriter hoping to enhance their compositions, or a veteran player hoping to hone their skills, I can help you achieve your goals and become the musician you want to be.

If you have been wanting to start a band or simply play with friends, I can also teach you the fundamentals to playing in a group.

Music is fun; practice should not seem like a chore. I make it manageable for you by breaking down the techniques you need to learn into simple exercises that you can apply to the songs you want to learn.

My lessons are 100% customized to your needs and what you are interested in learning. Any genre, any style, any song.

-
-What To Expect--
Professionalism - I want to see YOU improve and learn to play confidently. I don't teach for a quick buck between gigs. I teach because it is something I am good at and it makes me excited to help people progress in music.

Passion - I am an active performer, session player, and writer. I teach because I am also passionate about educating my students, and it is something in which I am very skilled.

Adaptability - Each lesson is tailored to the needs and goals of that student. I can adapt to many different styles of learning and instruction. If you do not understand a particular skill, it is my duty to find an explanation that suits your learning style.

I have access to professional level tablature and sheet music for thousands of songs, and I will have any handouts or notes ready for you before the lesson. Any notes that we go over in the lesson will be emailed to you by the day's end so that you don't have to waste valuable lesson time writing things down.

Manageable Practice - The quicker you improve, the more fun playing will be, the more you'll practice! I am highly trained and have gleaned the most useful methods from the hundreds of lessons I've taken in my life to help you improve as fast as possible. I will give you quick exercises and pieces of the songs you want to learn to help you progress without making practice seem like a chore.

24/7 Support - I am available by phone from 10 am to 10 pm Monday - Friday and 24 hours a day by email. Drew is an excellent teacher and I recommend him without reservations. I'm a casual guitar player, and working with Drew has significantly improved my playing and increased the enjoyment I get out of playing.

The key aspects that I believe make him an effective teacher:
1) he listens to what you want to accomplish, and works toward those goals
2) he has a list of very specific, bite-size skills and bits of knowledge that he can dole out. This ensures that you can keep learning without feeling overwhelemed
3) he knows music theory forwards and backwards, and can explain the complex concepts in intuitive ways
4) very flexible with lesson scheduling
5) he keeps notes on what you cover in each lesson, doesn't lose his place
6) he keeps you motivated without making you feel guilty for not practicing.

Drew has the natural sensibilities of a great teacher. He is patient, listens well, and meets you wherever you're at. He is also, EXTREMELY skilled with a lot of teaching experience. I came to him at a long-time learning plateau and he immediately identified where I could improve. Learning just a few technical adjustments and basic theory, I could suddenly play new chords that I couldn't before. He also helped create a strong basis from which I could continue to teach myself. Lessons were fun too! I am very grateful for having found Drew.

I'm the kind of person who had never touched music in her life, didn't know how to tell the beat of the music and had no idea how guitar works. As my 2015 new year resolution, I decided to pick up on guitar to challenge myself and I yelped the highest rating private teacher. Since then Drew's lesson has become one of the best part of my life. I have been going to his class every week for a year. I was afraid to be laughed at in the beginning because I had zero foundation. But Drew made the class very interesting and made me feel really comfortable. What sets him aside is not only the exceptional music knowledge, but also his skill to understand people and teach in various methods.I loved all the classes I had and found it very beneficial. In conclusion, he is amazing. I totally recommend him as a teacher, a friend and a mentor.

About Andrew
Hello! I've been teaching music full-time for the past 10 years. I graduated music school in 2008, holding a Bachelors in music from Columbia College Chicago, a thriving arts school in the heart of downtown Chicago. There, I primarily concentrated on music composition and guitar, while also studying piano and drums. My parents were musicians and school teachers, so music teaching is very much in my blood. I've been playing and writing songs in bands since I was 12 years old. I recorded 3 original albums in high school, which is a very unique thing. I played shows everywhere in Chicago through college and upon graduating started a successful band called Minor Characters. We worked on albums with Beau Sorenson (Death Cab for Cutie, Superchunk, Bob Mould) at April Base Studios (Bon Iver), toured extensively, and was featured at South By Sout
hwest Music Festival in 2012 and 2013. This past year I spent recording a number of online guitar courses that are available through my business Make Some Noise, Inc.

I did all of this while maintaining a full schedule of music students, where I put on recitals at cool music venues and had kids and adults play together in duos, trios, or bands. I'd love to do the same thing here in Los Angeles!

Andrew is an extremely talented teacher. He's very patient and he doesn't just hear my daughter, he listens. Not only to what she plays but to what she says; I think this is why she has made such tremendous progress. I was not sure how the online lessons would work but they have not skipped a beat and if anything the online sessions are more productive. If you want a talented instructor that actually cares and will take you to the next level, look no further than Andrew!

I have played on national tv, toured the U.S. a few times with signed bands, I endorse various drum and cymbal companies, and my drumming can be heard (and played) in the Guitar Hero and Rock Band video games. I studied at Berklee College Of Music for drum set and at University Of New Hampshire for classical percussion.

I've taught almost 20,000 drum lessons over 25 years to hundreds of students. I've taught at several music schools in LA and Boston, including Berklee College Of Music. Past students have included kids and adults with special needs, professional musicians, and famous actors. My students play gigs, concerts, and teach their own drum students.

For my beginners, we play the full drum set right away although it is not necessary to own drums. For my advanced and intermediate students, I pass on the material given to
me while I attended Berklee. It is also easy for my lessons to switch gears so we can on work on material that the students may need for their individual situation (i.e. preparing for school auditions, learning favorite songs for talent shows, etc.). My lessons are demanding, I am strict, and that's why my students are awesome.

I started playing guitar at age 11 (41 as of this writing) and was active on stage as an actor before that, so I've been a performer my whole life. I've played original music in many genres, cover bands in multiple genres and even play in a tribute band. I started off pursuing technical ability and followed the popular "shred" guitar players. I then discovered "slower" blues players and brought more dynamics into my playing. I've taken a turn towards songwriting and music production and produce songs for myself and other clients. I truly love all types of music, whether rock, blues, jazz, funk, soul, heavy metal, classical, flamenco, world music, EDM, old-school country, musical-theater, etc. I love it all.
