Clarinet was my secondary instrument in college. I have taught all levels.
About Katherine (Kay)
Taught 41 years as a band director Principal Trumpet with Beloit/Janesville Symphony
I like to teach in a style that is functional and interesting. Students will be doing a variety of activities at each lesson. The focus will be determined by their needs.
As students become more proficient in music their enjoyment of musical activities will increase. The success of completing various levels of musical achievement will carry over to other lifetime skills.
*** Lesson Details *** I will work with each student depending on their individual needs. We will strive to produce steady improvement in player proficiency.
*** Travel Equipment *** Student should have a music stand and instrument
*** Specialties *** I like to teach based on the individual. I have taught group and private lessons. The materials I use are varied, with an emphas
is on scales, theory, and also some duet playing. I also like to incorporate some music history into each lesson. I feel that each student needs to work from known to the new areas. I often use supplementary materials (solos or small ensembles) to reinforce my teaching.
Kay is awesome. My daughter loved her. She is very patience and kept Victoria engaged.

Kay is very knowledgeable, kind and accommodating. She is very encouraging and never makes me feel dumb when I hit a sour note. (As a beginning beginner, that happens a lot!) I am amazed at how much I have learned in such a short time!
I teach beginner to advanced clarinet to all ages of students. Younger students should be able to hold the instrument in order to start on clarinet.

Becky was a phenomenal instructor! She has a genuine enthusiasm for teaching and music is obviously a large part of her life. She provides great analogies to help her students grasp concepts. And she inquired about my goals and was a great resource for pursuing them. I had to suspend my lessons because life got a little too busy, but if I find the time again, I'd definitely look to return to her for instruction.
I'm a full-time musician in the music industry for 13 years now performing with such artists as J.C. Chasez (N'Sync), Tony-award winners Alice Ripley and Greg Jbara along with several theater companies. I've also coached multiple band programs for 4 years now. Success comes from having a thorough understanding of each instrument I play. This allows for multiple approaches to learning each instrument, rapid development of the student and involving fun teaching techniques. You'll learn fast and enjoy doing it!
Music lessons were such a chore in my childhood. My mother drudgingly dragged me to lessons every week and forced me to practice at least once a week before my next lesson. I soon met a new teacher who offered a different perspective and genuinely made playing music fun.
I can honestly say that it changed my life.
I wouldn't come to understand how until much later. I couldn't have even imagined becoming a professional musician until college but I was certainly given the tools to be successful in whatever I pursued living in such a demanding and competitive world. Self-confidence, active critical thinking skills, consistent work ethic, maintaining a healthy imagination, a lifelong appreciation for the arts. These all stem from my time in lessons and later my career in music.
As a professional musician in the San Diego and Los A
ngeles area, I perform regularly with many different music groups and solo artists including Frankie J, San Diego Symphony, San Diego Winds, Sure Fire Soul Ensemble and many more. I have also coached the band programs at Helix, Hoover, Del Norte and Rancho Buena Vista High Schools on all woodwinds.
Originally a classically-trained saxophonist (concert band, orchestral, solo literature), I currently hold a Masters of Fine Arts degree in Music emphasis in Jazz from California Institute of the Arts and Bachelors of Music degree in Jazz Studies from San Diego State University. I specialize in teaching intermediate and advanced students but also work very efficiently with beginners.
In the spirit of my previous teachers, I encourage new and fun methods of music instruction while still reinforcing the basics. All with the idea of having fun while playing music!
I have been working with Jesse for a few years now. I am bummed that the subject section of this review only lets me select one subject. Jesse has helped me with ear training, theory and composition, piano, performance, harmony, and overall musician advice. I cannot think of a more authentic and caring mentor and teacher out there that could be as efficient and helpful as Jesse has been to my career. I have seen a lot of progress in my musical career and my confidence as a musician has grown thanks to Jesse! He genuinely cares about the art and his students, he gets involved in their music careers and makes sure that the lesson is learned. He is familiar with many approaches and works hard for his students. Music is very lucky to have Jesse as a teacher!

Jesse is a great teacher for musicians of any level. His passion for music and music education is evident in the way he communicates with his students. Jesse is extremely patient, and will cater to your individual needs. He's a teacher who is truly on your side and aspires to help you reach your goals! I highly recommend lessons with Jesse, he makes playing fun!
I have taught beginning and intermediate clarinet lessons for the last twelve years. Whether you are just starting out or looking for a place in your high school wind ensemble, I can help you reach your goals and have a great time doing it!
After more than a decade of performing and teaching in Los Angeles, Eric now calls Seattle home. Since graduating from the University of Southern California with a degree in Music, Eric has pursued professional jazz and music education with equal passion.
In addition to a robust private studio, in Los Angeles Eric was a jazz coach for the Downbeat Magazine award-winning band at Downey High School. Eric also taught for nine years with the elementary school band program, Children's Music Workshop.
Throughout weekly lessons, my students develop proper techniques for practicing efficiently and also learn ways to seek out the great instrumentalists and music that speaks to them. Sound, technique, musicality, and expression are the corner stones to my teaching and practicing.
Hello! My name is Ian Levy and I specialize in Saxophone, Clarinet, and Flute private study. As a graduate of the New School - College of Performing Arts, regular performer, and private teacher in New York City, music has been the passion and greatest joy of my life. Private teaching has been the most rewarding experience and balance to my own professional career in music. Throughout weekly lessons, my students develop proper techniques for practicing efficiently and also learn ways to seek out the great instrumentalists and music that speaks to them. Sound, technique, musicality, and expression are the corner stones to my teaching and practicing.
Clarinet students will learn about the fundamentals of music including rhythm, note-reading, and basic theory as well as more in-depth clarinet-related topics like tone, breath support, and altissimo registers!
I began teaching in-home lessons to K-12 and adult students in 2010. Since then I have: 1) Taught thousands of fun and engaging lessons to over 150 students 2) Helped high school students attain successful college music auditions 3) Had students on saxophone AND clarinet place successfully in All-State and All-County Honors Bands and Gifted and Talented Ensembles
Whether your student is excelling and wants new musical challenges to stay engaged or you think they could enjoy music but are struggling to keep up, I have experience with that situation. I am a passionate performer myself, and I released my debut jazz album in early 2018. I truly believe that music is one of the greatest sources of joy in the world.
I played the sax through high school and then stopped playing until I retired ~ 4 years ago. I started lessons with Julian when he lived nearby and have continued with "skype" lessons since he moved out of the area. He's a great teacher: motivational, thorough knowledge of both classical and jazz, kind, good sense of humor, and a good communicator. I highly recommend him.

I highly recommend Julian as a saxophone teacher. My son started playing saxophone and taking lessons with Julian three years ago, when my son was 9 years old. Julian is patient with my son and has built a good rapport with him. Julian has always encouraged him to try his best and to not be discouraged when he makes mistakes, and that has made my son comfortable with Julian and confident enough to push himself. Also, Julian is reliable and punctual, and is good at communicating through text and email.
I have been playing the clarinet for 12 years, and teaching lessons for 4 years. While clarinet is my primary, I am proficient in oboe, and flute as well. I make targeted lesson plans according to the needs of each individual student. Not only will you learn how to play music beautifully, you will also learn the theory behind it, making it a more enjoyable and stress free experience.
I am a professional clarinetist. I am currently a senior Instrumental Music Education Major with a concentration in clarinet at William Carey University.
I am a member of a professional orchestra as well as many small ensembles. I have been playing clarinet for 13 years and teaching for 5. Teaching is something I am very passionate about and is something that I truly love doing.
Students should expect to improve on a weekly basis in both technicality, but also as a musician. Students will receive a customized lesson plan tailored to their specific needs.
Felicia was so professional and really helped me dissect and understand a difficult passage I’m working on. She is hilarious and has THE BEST analogies! I really love her teaching style and her wide windows of availability! 12/10 would recommend!!!!

"Corrine has worked with the clarinet section at my school from my freshman year all the way up to my senior year. She has always been caring and loving to
wards us and creates a friendly and fun environment when teaching. Her lessons are thorough and engaging so that when you leave, you don’t feel overworked, yet you feel a sense of accomplishment at having learned something new."
"Focused on my daughter's concerns and was very patient and encouraging. Thank you!"
"Our daughter has made amazing progress with Lisa's instruction. Lisa is easy to work with and really connects with her students. She makes learning so muc
h fun too!"
"Jon is outstanding. His knowledge is second to none and he has a wonderful way of teaching and motivating me."
"I have employed Madyson as an adjunct teacher at Waldron Public Schools in Arkansas where I teach. She has taught clarinet sectionals and lessons for us
at the high school and middle school. She has done a fantastic job with our students. They have learned and gained a lot from her teaching. I recommend her to anyone looking for clarinet private instruction and/or group instruction."
"She helps me a lot with the clarinet"
"Very professional and knowledgeable in music and instrument, passionate, builds connections with children from different backgrounds, builds strong skills
in students through individualized approach"
"David is a fantastic musician and truly gifted teacher. When I moved to the Philadelphia area, I tried 2 other teachers who had been very highly recommend
ed, but I was sadly disappointed -- not because they were not very good musicians, but because they were not able to pass along to me what I needed I order to progress. I had almost given up on the idea of getting a wonderful teacher who would listen to my needs and be able to help me. But since being with David, my playing has improved tremendously in a fairly short period of time (less that 1 year). He has helped me improve my technique and sound dramatically. And... he's a lovely person. I cannot recommend him highly enough."
