It was an honor and a pleasure working with Gwen. Due to personal circumstances, I had to stop working with her, but I highly recommend her as an instructor. She's very knowledgeable, accommodating, and made me feel comfortable. You'll find yourself in good hands with her.

The clarinet is an incredibly expressive instrument, but only if you can cover the holes! I specialize in helping students make music with this incredibly capable instrument!

About Joshua
I am a tutor who earned a music teaching degree, substitute taught, and didn't become a school teacher. I held professional tech retail jobs and am supplementing my life with my passion - education.

Whatever subject or instrument I teach, I celebrate students' successes; and I enjoy helping learners have new aha moments.

The majority of my students take guitar, bass guitar, or Spanish lessons. I am an educator and help my students learn other skills and knowledge sets too.

I went to Ohio State University for college, earned a BA in Music Education, and graduated Cum Laude. I also spent 4 years in the Ohio State University Marching Band.

Through my healing journey, I've developed patience, insight, and understanding for my students' learning processes.

I'm excited to help you incorporate new skills into your life!

In search of helping our 10 year old son build some self-confidence we sought out clarinet lessons this summer. He started playing in school last year, and it was something our reluctant son liked "enough" to want to build up some competency. Joshua has been amazing! He finds just the right amount of challenge to encourage my son to practice, but not get discouraged. My son looks forward to his lesson each week and told me that he isn't even sure he wants to switch to saxophone next year because he is having so much fun playing the clarinet. Joshua is amazing with children, and has spent time getting to know our kiddo and find out what will work best for him. Patient, calm, and inspiring--very talented instructor.

Joshua Blatman is a fantastic music teacher. He has a great resume, is experienced in a variety of instruments, and a solid background in teaching.
I think any kids lucky enough to learn music from Joshua will have fun and hopefully fall in love with learning it, just like my kids have.

The clarinet has many uses in band, jazz, or orchestra. Knowing what to expect is part of your professional and poised life in music.

About Diane
I continue to learn and improve my teaching by attending workshops, conferences, and be involved in music teacher groups. These are both in person, social media, and podcasts. I believe it is important to play your instrument if you teach it. My BM degree from UW-Stevens Point taught me how music is important in so many parts of life. My family of 6, includes 3 sons and 1 daughter. My youngest is a sophomore at Thomas Jefferson.

I ask that you have a well maintained instrument before signing up for lessons. ie. an acoustic piano or keyboard that has minimum 76 keys, 88 is PREFERABLE, keys need to be weighted/touch sensitive. You can ask me where are apropriate places to rent or buy a piano.

I have some supplies, materials, access to music website and books which you would then reimburse me. It is non-refundable, You may g

I specialize in trad jazz and swing. I don’t teach THE INSTRUMENT - you can get that from others; I teach THE MUSIC. I can offer you something you won’t get elsewhere: an understanding of the role the clarinet and sax play in a trad or swing band. How do you choose what notes to play in the ensembles and on your solo? Whether you've played other styles and would like to learn trad/swing, you've played trad/swing but want to hone your skills, or you're new to music altogether, I CAN HELP YOU.

About Dan
I’ve made my living for nearly thirty years specializing in jazz of the 1920s and ’30s - the genres commonly referred to as “traditional jazz” (or “trad”) and swing. I’m the clarinet instructor at the New Orleans Trad Jazz Camp, the San Diego Adult Trad Jazz Camp, and the newly founded New York Hot Jazz Camp.

I don’t actually teach THE INSTRUMENT - that’s something you can get from thousands of professional instructors. What I teach is THE MUSIC. I have something unique to offer you, which you won’t be able to get from other instructors: a comprehensive understanding of the role the clarinet and saxophone play in a traditional jazz or swing band. How do you choose what notes to play (or not play) during the ensembles and on your solo?

Whether you've played other styles of music and would like to enter the trad jazz/swing arena, you'
ve played trad jazz/swing but would like to hone your skills, or you're new to music altogether, I CAN HELP YOU.

I have a Bachelor Degree in Clarinet Performance from FIU. I teach clarinet following the same principles I use in my piano method: Brain-Based Piano Method.

About Leidys
Hi, I love to teach children as young as 3 years old and adults using our own Brain-Based Piano Method, a Mindful and Comprehensive System to learn music and piano that incorporates the latest scientific findings on how we learn. We, my husband and I, started creating this method in 2012 when we could not find a comprehensive method created with today's children needs in mind. We want our students to truly enjoy music making, and to achieve that they need to know what they are doing, they need to learn to understand how music works. We are proud to say that our method is fun, engaging, effective and practical. our students learn from early on the basics of music: ear training, music theory, form, piano technique, reading and writing notes, and more. But more than anything else, we encourage our students to be creative from the very begin
ning. Our method is a complete system for learning the piano that includes books, CDs, rewards, teaching materials, musical story books and video tutorials accessible online. When you Join us, you will become part of a creative and dynamic studio! You will learn how to see the connections present in music and to transfer all that knowledge to other aspects of your lives. I hope to meet you soon to start a very exciting musical learning journey!

My daughter loves going to piano class, and asks when she is going back. I am amazed by the things that she has learned so quickly, and in such a short period of time. Each class introduces her to something new, or allows her to strengthen her skills in a new way. This method of teaching piano is so innovative because my daughter has learned how to play the right and left hand of a musical score with clapping and body movements. She has also learned to conduct, play with 5 fingers, and sing songs. All of this, and she has only had 4 classes. The connection to math and reading are amazing, and are evident during each moment. Highly recommended.

Our family experience with Leidys and Mihai was a wonderful one. They know how to incorporate the children into the classroom and made them feel important, which is great for the children's development. They were very kind and loving to my children. They are great people who are generous of their time and knowledge. They look forward to building bonds not only with the children, but also with the whole family. They give tips and suggestions on Music Education. They became friends to us and to my children! We highly recommend them to instill in children the love of Music in all its forms. They also provide piano classes for adults and their method is great!!! Only great things can be said about these amazing and caring teachers!!

I love to teach students of any level from beginner to advanced. If you are a beginner, in the first few lessons you will learn how to put the clarinet together, how to put the reed on the mouthpiece, and be able to play a simple melody. I like to use the Klose Method book, and simple solos including music from film scores like Star Wars. Advanced players can work on clarinet technique and repertoire including orchestral excerpts and major solo literature. I look forward to meeting you!

About William
I love to play the clarinet and love to see my students fulfill all of their potential. I have enjoyed being a student of the clarinet myself since I was 9 years old, and have learned lots of things that I want to share.

I played clarinet in the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra for 40 years, retiring in August of 2015. I have a Bachelor of Music degree (with Distinction) from Indiana University's School of Music. I have played a lot of chamber music as well, including touring Spain with the Atlanta Virtuosi. I have been Adjuct Instructor of clarinet at Georgia State University, and at Georgia Institute of Technology.

My teaching method is to help the student absorb good playing habits at a pace that feels right to them. The process is as important as the learning itself, and I try to teach in a friendly and supportive manner. I want
to be the ally that can help the student, and eliminate the obstacles they may run across in both music and instrumental skill.

I studied clarinet with William Rappaport when I was a graduate
student in music education at Georgia State University. He may be the
most deeply musical person I have ever known. My sense was that,
though he was a performer of the absolute highest caliber, he was
equally passionate about teaching.
When I initially contacted Bill to schedule lessons, I explained that
I was visually impaired. I wanted to share this information with him
upfront in the event that he had questions or concerns about teaching
me. I remember him saying clearly, “I am aware of the possibilities.”
That was all I needed to hear to feel comfortable entering his studio.
Bill encouraged me to take on any challenge in the clarinet
literature that interested me. He used every possible metaphor he
could think of to communicate ideas that were more easily accessed if
you could simply look at the printed page. He was always warm and
friendly, but focused, never wasting one second of our time together.
Following my work with Bill, I attended The University of Michigan
where, though I was a music education doctoral student, I was
instantly welcomed into one of the clarinet studios. Bill’s creative
work with me played an enormous role in making that happen. Now, I am
a community college professor, teaching a variety of classes including
a studio class for instrumental music students. I often find myself
using the same examples Bill employed with me to help my current
students. I am profoundly grateful for his unyielding commitment to my
growth when I was a student of his.

I’ve played clarinet for over 30 years, and was a clarinet major in college. I started studying with Mr. Rappaport after I was out of college for several years and had moved to Atlanta, where Mr. Rappaport was playing in the Atlanta Symphony. I found him to be the best teacher I had ever studied with. His ability to help me understand the musical phrase, no matter what style of music I was working on, was amazing. I studied standard clarinet etudes, orchestral literature, and clarinet solo repertoire with Mr. Rappaport. He had the same mild, yet persistent approach with me on everything we worked on – always working to get me to play it to the best of my ability.
One thing I had always feared having to play some day was the opening solo to Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. A former teacher had been unable to help me with it. So, when a band I was playing with scheduled the piece and told me to get ready to play the solo, I was traumatized and contacted Mr. Rappaport for help. He worked with me and not only got me playing the opening glissando, but helped me to have a better understanding of the other jazzy spots in the piece. So now I can say I’ve performed that piece about 20 times, and the fear is gone! Thanks, Mr. Rappaport!
Regardless of your level of playing, I think you will find Mr. Rappaport to be an outstanding teacher!

Mr. Rappaport was my clarinet professor and mentor in college and has continued to be an inspiration to me both as a teacher and as one of the finest clarinetist I know, both in the classical realm and in the jazz and swing styles.

Anyone who has ever heard me play has always complimented me on my clarinet tone. I can honestly say that my clarinet tone is the direct result of Mr. Rappaport's methods and his gentle but very stringent guidelines. If you are looking for someone to take you or your child to the highest standard of musicianship, look no further. I highly recommend lessons with Mr. Rappaport. Kim C.
