Joshua is a wonderfully talented and skilled musician AND communicator. His heart is in his work, and his teaching style is encouraging and supportive. I'm an older student (senior actually) revisiting my past love of the flute. My hour lesson flies by and it always ends with me feeling I've learned a lot. Thanks, Joshua, for being the fine teacher you are! My four stars "Great Experience" is a five star.

You can learn to play anything on the flute if you know the right practice methods! I want you to learn the proper technique, understand what it means to make music, excel in reading music, and enjoy the ability to play by ear. All of these are important to the well-rounded musician.

About Jason

I graduated with my music degree (woodwind proficiency) in 2003. While in college, I studied under a teacher who was a student of Mike Guerra, widely recognized in his generation as one of the greatest technique instructors on clarinet and saxophone. After graduation, I went on to teach private

I did not take private lesson from Jason, but was in the church choir that he directed. As a director he was excellent. He was very easy to follow. Our choir improved tremendously under his direction. His ear for music is amazing. He can pick out the parts of a piece of music that need work and works with the singers to get the part right. I know some of the students he taught at our church and they always talked highly of him and how easy it was to work with him. I have also heard him play the clarinet and the clari-sax and the saxophone. He is a phenomenal performer. I would have my child take lessons from him anytime.

I have been teaching flute for almost 20 years. I have a doctorate in flute performance and have done training and extensive research in body mapping and efficiency of body use. I take a very holistic approach to teaching and playing the flute. Each student is a person, an individual unlike anyone else. Every body is unique and therefore will play the flute differently than other flutists. When I teach, I aim to get to know the whole person in order to effectively work with the flutist. I work to get to know how each student learns and processes information. A flutist cannot become a good musician without making the journey their own. My goal is to give every student their own individual path to reach their goals, while also giving them the tools to use in their own teaching of individual flutists. I emphasize these specific areas in my teaching: the physical aspects of flute playing, including playing position and posture, breath control, sound and tone production, projection and ...

Dr. John Ross is an excellent teacher! He helped me take the music I was preparing to record to a whole new level. He has so much knowledge and can present that knowledge in a way that is approachable for students of any level. I am so thankful I got to study with him!!!

John is an outstanding player and pedagogue. Over a number of years, I've observed John work with students of incredibly diverse backgrounds, ages, and skill levels. With each and every student, John connects with the individual, finding what will help that person rise to their fullest potential as a flute player. Technical progress is a given when studying with John. Additionally, students consistently enter his lessons eager to learn and leave with a renewed drive to grow. I cannot recommend John highly enough.

"Tony is a great instructor for serious students of clarinet, flute or saxophone. My daughter started with him as a regular 8th grade flute player - not bad, but not great either. Over the course of three years, she has progressed to the point where she made regionals as a sophomore and junior (1st chair orchestra as a junior), and also made all-state as a junior.

My daughter needs a patient and consistent type of teacher, and after a couple of months, Tony and Natalia were working together quite well, as her progress has shown. Of course, Natalia put in the the practice time as well, as she is not quite a musical prodigy, so she has had to work. Tony has supported her all along and been flexible with lessons and time as needed for upcoming events.

My son took saxophone lessons for the last 3 years as well. While quite talented, he doesn't like to work and focus on his music, so he only just almost regional 3 years in a row. That's not really Tony's fault, as he tried to show my son how to get the most out of his practice time, but regardless of talent, music takes work.

I'd gladly give Tony 5 stars for clarinet, as that is his principal instrument, and he is a great clarinetist, but my kids took flute and saxophone from him, which are instruments he doubles on professionally. However, Tony is an honest person, and he would let you know when the time comes for a change to a higher level professional on the secondary instruments. Most students will not ever get there, although it could happen for students planning to make a profession of musical performance."

"Diane makes learning music fun and enjoyable in a warm and friendly environment. So I look forward to my weekly lessons where we usually start with the the flute and wrap up the hour on the piano.
When I'm struggling with a new concept or a difficult technique Diane has the flexibility and patience to help me improve. In our first year, Diane showed a lot of patience! Diane motivates with praise and boosts my confidence while continuing to challenge me.
Diane is excited about music and teaching -- it's a way of life, and the enthusiasm is contagious. When your teacher is excited about your lessons, you will be too."

"If you are an adult beginner, or "re-beginner," or really anyone wanting to learn and improve, then look no further!!! Emily is hands down the best music instructor I've had the pleasure to study under. As someone with performance anxiety, she helped me feel comfortable playing and was always encouraging--never an unkind word and never made me feel uncomfortable for making mistakes! She truly cares about her students' improvement and that her students find joy in creating music. Emily's knowledge and background is astounding! Need music recommendations? She has them. Need instrument recommendations? She knows what's what. Interested in the history behind music theory and interpretation of classical pieces, she can refer you to countless materials. Emily is a fountain of knowledge and talent. One really cannot find a more wonderful instructor."
