My doctorate is in music and I have experience teaching music at multiple universities, as a public schools teacher, and as a private instructor. I've played classical and jazz clarinet in large and small ensembles for 12 years. For beginners, I recommend Essential Elements for Band, Book 1 for Clarinet. For others, I may recommend the David Hite Foundation Studies and Melodious & Progressive Studies. For all, I teach practice techniques for good fundamentals. For booking, please sign up with TakeLessons today, and then we'll arrange a mutually agreeable meeting time. I look forward to hearing from you!

About Dan
I am a dissabled Security Force Member from the Air Force. I suffered a TBI, and was informed that I would have no quality of life. I read a study by Harvord, and John Hopkins on music and the brain, and I choose to follow a study in music to first increase my quality of life, and second to help others. I have learned through the years that music is the perfect tool to assist children with attention deficits. I have been performing for over thirty years, and I have been teaching for almost as long. I have taught private studio, both private and public schools. I have also, taught in two different colleges. I believe anyone can learn music, whether it is for personal edification, performance, theropy, or quality of life.

Hello!

I am a private music instructor specializing in woodwind instruments looking to take on clarinet, flute and saxophone students!

My lessons consist of a well balanced coverage of exercises (scales, note patterns, etudes, duets, major repertoire, etc) geared towards building a solid foundation in playing technique. This allows each student to be accurate and expressive with a sense of ease in their playing! Students of the studio are also thrown into the world of music! They are strongly encouraged to attend concerts, listen to music regularly, and attend masterclasses. The goal is not just to learn an instrument, but to also develop a life-long love and appreciation for music!

I am very proud to say that my students soar through their band and orchestra programs in school and obtain a sound quality/sense of musicality way beyond their grade level! The majority of my students excel past their school music programs! They join youth/honor bands and orchestras, chamber ...

About Carter
I believe that everyone has the ability to enjoy and be expressive on an instrument. It is miss instruction and a lack of passion in music education that allows students to become frustrated and bored, ultimately pushing them to quit their instruments.

My goal as a music educator is not only to teach the mechanics of an instrument, but to also inspire a life-long passion for music. Therefore I make a point to encourage students to explore all the music there is to be had in their surrounding environment! This includes attending concerts, listening to great recordings and savoring all the music that our modern-day media has to offer!

With this consistent musical exploration I teach a thorough curriculum of scales, exercises, duets and standard solo repertoire pieces. Surrounding all this is a foundation in music theory. This pedagogi
cal study will enable a fun and easy experience when students pick up their instruments to perform music!

In addition to this private study I strongly encourage my students to pursue extra-curricular musical activities outside their school music programs. This includes auditioning for honor bands/orchestras, chamber music, music competitions and effective musical examinations such as Certificate of Merit. I believe a constant setting and achieving of goals is the foundation of growth in anything we do and music is no exception.

I am proud to say that the majority of my students develop great interest in classical music, fueling them to push past their difficulties and achieve a high standard of musical performance!

Before beginning lessons with Carter, playing clarinet was something that I dreaded to do to say the least. Once I started lessons I experienced exponential growth in my playing abilities and began to enjoy the instrument. Fast forward 6 years, because of the help of Carter, I have the opportunity to perform in prestigious youth groups, and have experiences that I wouldn't have had otherwise. Because of my lessons I have developed a love for playing clarinet and music that I wouldn't have had without Carter. -Matthew 6 years

Carter has been instrumental in my son's growth and development as a musician and clarinetist. He has worked with my son over six years and has displayed patience, exceptional teaching ability and coaching, and clear talent as a musician. Due to Carter's support and teaching over the years, my son has realized tremendous success. He has been First Chair in his Wind Ensemble group at school, a member of the Pacific Symphony Youth Wind Ensemble, and a member of the California All-State Music Ensemble. I strongly believe that, without Carter, these accomplishments would have not been possible!

If you choose to take lessons with me, your money is going toward top-notch private music instruction. My curriculum includes goal-setting meetings and check-ups to ensure that my student and myself are both doing our best to realize his or her musical ambitions. I utilize 'before and after' recordings to show my students just how far they've come without even realizing it, stirring up deeper motivation and reinforcing the power of practicing. Although I've been playing for over 15 years and now perform regularly in the NYC area, I don't expect my skills and experience to simply rub off on my students. When you schedule a lesson with me, you are working with an educator, not a performer.

Although I am a saxophonist professionally, I've been playing clarinet alongside it for a few years, and I'm fully capable of taking on beginner and intermediate students on this instrument. Rest assured, the unique features of my teaching style and curriculum are no less powerful because clarinet ...

About Alden
I'm a baritone saxophonist and a die-hard jazz enthusiast living in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. I graduated from Bard College with a BA in music, specifically jazz performance and contemporary composition. In addition to saxophone, I also play clarinet, bass clarinet, flute, and piano (I'm also convinced that I can play the drums, but my friends disagree).
Since moving to Brooklyn, I've entrenched myself in the New York music scene, playing mainly jazz, funk and pop, as well as composing my own music on the side.

In addition to performing, I teach regularly, giving in-home lessons to my students throughout the NYC area. I teach all levels of saxophone, as well as beginner to intermediate piano, and beginner flute and clarinet. I offer a rich curriculum with my own set of teaching materials such as, goal calendars, practice logs, and be
fore-and-after recordings.
If you are thinking of booking lessons, don't hesitate to contact me via Take Lessons. That way I can ensure that I have space in my studio and that you will get the most out of your experience with me. Can't wait to work with you!

My son has been taking lessons with Alden for about 6 months now and I can notice great strides being made in both his playing and overall confidence. Alden's encouraging nature coupled with his love and knowledge of his instrument and music in general creates an incredibly nourishing learning environment for a student.
