Whether you're picking up a saxophone for the first time or looking to reach the next level, I can help you achieve your goals!

About Max
In my experience working with over 2,500 students in one-on-one lessons, educational workshops, and outreach concerts, I've learned how to help students of all backgrounds achieve their goals and find joy in music. I love working with students on their journeys of musical discovery! My lessons focus on developing technique, practice strategies, a good sound, aural skills, music theory knowledge, and stylistic fluency.

My private students have placed into selective programs including the Greater Hartford Youth Wind Ensemble at The Hartt School, the Connecticut Music Educators Association All-State Band, and Interlochen Arts Camp. I teach saxophone at Manchester Community College, South Windsor High School, Camp Encore / Coda, and Music and Arts East Hartford. I believe students of all ages can find enjoyment and success in music.

Y
ou'll benefit from my years of experience as a professional performing musician. From 2012-2016 I toured with the Asylum Quartet, an award-winning ensemble acclaimed for virtuosity, creativity, and innovation. I am an Arts Provider for Hartford Performs with the Foundry Quartet and an active freelance performer. I have appeared with the Juilliard Orchestra, the U.S. Coast Guard Band, and International Opera Theater, and have performed throughout the US as well as Italy, and will be performing in the Ukraine this summer. I hold a Master's in Music from The Hartt School and a Bachelor of Music summa cum laude from Arizona State University (ASU).

Though I specialize in saxophone, I also love teaching beginning and intermediate piano.

If you are outside my travel radius, I may be able to accommodate you for an additional travel fee - please contact me!

***Lesson Materials***

Saxophone students must have an instrument in good repair and required accessories (reeds, mouthpiece, etc.). Piano students must have access to a tuned piano or an electric keyboard with touch-sensitive, weighted keys. I am happy to recommend instrument and accessory brands; please check with me before a major purchase. Quality, working equipment is critical to students’ success.

I periodically request that students purchase books and other lesson materials.

IMPORTANT: If you are planning to buy a saxophone, piano/keyboard, or mouthpiece, please consult with me first. Having good-quality instrument/accessories will help you achieve your success. There are a number of cheap products that are easy to find and purchase, but they are often of poor quality. I can recommend options for your first purchase that may be more expensive, but will help you succeed in the long term.

Daniel Young's advanced Knowldge and unique style of teaching combine together to make an overall great learning experience for students struggling with music theory. Dan has helped me understand concepts of music theory that I have been struggling with for many years in a short amount of time due to his ideal way of introducing new concepts to a student. Do you want to play what is known as the coolest woodwind out there? Move aside, oboe!

During a Corinne saxophone lesson, you will learn how to create beautiful sounds first and foremost. If at first you sound like a goose, fear not! A little bit of time with me will go a long way.

Once you are producing some quality saxophone sounds, we will move on to learning notes, reading music, and accomplishing your goals!

Aside from perfecting saxophone technique, we will also work on musicality and listening skills! These skills are important in bringing music to life.

If you already know how to play the saxophone, I will continue your education in whatever direction you would like to go.

I look forward to working with you!

About Corinne
Hello! Thank you for checking out my TakeLessons profile. My name is Corinne, and my passion is teaching. Great teachers can have lasting effects on their students, and I cherish the possibility of improving my students’ lives through music.

When I'm teaching a lesson, it may seem on the surface that we're only practicing how to play their instrument well. However, with every student that I meet, my goal is to help them learn how to set and achieve realistic goals. A brand new clarinet student’s weekly goal may be to play their instrument for 10 seconds without taking a breath. An advanced clarinet student’s goal may be to master a piece for their college audition. Both students have challenging goals based on their skill level, but the goals look very different!

I believe that goal-setting is an important life skill that can set a
nyone on a path to greatness – as long as they know how to follow through.
My goal is to help YOU reach your goals.

When I am not working with students, you can find me working on my own goals! I practice all of my instruments often, and I am working hard to become a great tap dancer. My non-musical interests include learning about the coffee-making process, learning how to make costumes from scratch, and playing The Sims.

Thank you for your attention, and I hope to meet you soon!

Whether your goal is to prepare for college auditions, to improve your performance in band class, or to simply learn the ropes of this amazing instrument, I can help you get where you want to go using a combination of my personal performance experience, the Rubank method, and supplementary materials designed by Dr. Joseph d'Auguste.

About Brittney
I am a music educator and professional performer in the NYC metro area. I hold a B.A. in music education with a concentration in woodwind performance.

I have taught students from ages 3 to 65, and I have the enthusiasm and resources to help you meet your specific musical goals. Whether your goal is college audition preparation or simply to build confidence and self-expression, I will work with you to develop a plan that fits your budget, schedule, and personal goals. My students have auditioned for and performed in regional honors ensembles, regional piano festivals, and community performances.

I teach piano, saxophone, clarinet, and flute to students of all different ages and experience levels, as well as ear training and music theory. I have been playing the saxophone for 13 years, and regularly perform in both classical and contempor
ary styles. I can teach students to read music and pursue classical excellence, to learn how to play contemporary music using chord sheets, or both depending on the goals and preference of the student.

I have premiered works by contemporary composers such as Paul Gaita and Patrick Burns, given several solo recitals, and studied with NYC multiple woodwind artists Todd Groves, Dr. Joseph d'Auguste, and Vito Chiavuzzo.

My personal passion is bringing music to the lives of as many students as possible, regardless of their level or specific interests. Please reach out with any questions, and I hope to meet you soon!

Music as always been a huge part of my life. It's been my outlet from the day-to-day since I was a young child. Going through the process of learning music and my instrument has always fascinated me, and I'd be happy to teach you the beauty of this art form and help you find your own unique voice! I have a great deal of insight on saxophone technique (scales/warm ups), improvisation (jazz/contemporary), preparing classical pieces/etudes, music theory/harmony, etc.

About Izzy
My musical journey started at a very young age, singing in church and elementary school choirs. I started taking sax lessons in 5th grade, when I decided that I wanted to be a consummate musician. Every Saturday morning, I took lessons in Jazz and Classical at Temple University's Community Music Scholar's Program from grades 6-12. I'm a graduate of Creative and Performing Arts high school ('15) in Philly and The University of the Arts ('19).

I've played lead alto in my high school's jazz band and the UArts Z Big Band. I've also played with many other musicians, vocalists, rappers, poets, etc. around the tristate area and along the east coast. I've traveled to Italy with the Philadelphia All City Orchestra in 2015 for a 9 day concert tour, and have played with notable musicians such as Larry McKenna, Tony Micelli, Tom Lawton, Don Liuzzi,
Micah Jones. I've also played on numerous recording sessions for local artists.

My goal is to become one with the music and create effortlessly through my practice regiments and collaborating with others, regardless of the genre.

Everything comes full circle at some point. I was mostly self-taught up until I began college. However, I had one teacher who took the time for me in middle school because she saw I had something special. And I will always give her the credit for pushing me to become the player I am now. For me, I would love the opportunity to be that person in someone else's musical journey.

I have a more holistic approach to my teaching, focusing not only on musical concepts, but also emphasizing performance and theoretical concepts. Having a deeper understanding of the structure and history of the music further enhances your performance as a musician as well as the experience of the audience - whether they are musically versed or not.

I primarily have experience teaching elementary and high school children. However, I am open to teaching adults and would love the experience to do so! If you would be interested in doing dual-instrument lessons, please let me know as I teach both clarinet and ...

About Matthew
I was first introduced to music at the age of six, when I began playing piano. However, once I began clarinet at the age of ten, I could not put it down. After playing both clarinet and piano for a year, I decided to focus on clarinet alone, and I have been refining myself as a clarinetist since.

In 2015, I graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Music in clarinet performance, studying under Dr. Osiris Molina. In 2018, I graduated from the University of New Mexico with a Master of Music, studying under Professor Keith Lemmons, while holding a woodwind quintet assistantship.

Being my primary instrument, I have performed countless concerts and taught lessons on B-flat and A clarinets. During my time at the University of Alabama, I taught lessons at a local high school. Coupled with this, I taught clarinet and woodwin
d sectionals at band camps at the high school level and collegiate level in Tennessee and Alabama. In addition to teaching high school and undergraduate students, I also have experience teaching beginning level clarinetists and saxophonists in methods classes - even students who are beginning to read music. My experiences with playing soprano B-flat clarinet include the UA Wind Ensemble, UA Symphonic Band, UA Contemporary Ensemble, Huxford Symphony Orchestra, UNM Wind Symphony, UNM Symphony Orchestra, and New Mexico Philharmonic.

I was first introduced to playing E-flat clarinet in high school. Having an affinity for the instrument, I continued playing it at the University of Alabama in the Wind Ensemble and Huxford Symphony Orchestra and in my graduate studies in both the University of New Mexico Wind Symphony and Symphony Orchestra. My various experiences on E-flat clarinet have me well-versed and able to teach any who have access to an E-flat clarinet.

I began playing bass clarinet during my graduate studies at the University of New Mexico and debuted with the UNM Wind Symphony, from which I came to love and enjoy playing the instrument. Playing bass clarinet has several added benefits that can be applied to playing soprano B-flat clarinet, and I am happy to teach any student who has a bass clarinet and is eager to learn.

Lastly, my credentials also include coaching chamber ensembles and woodwind sectionals. I have participated in several chamber groups including woodwind trios, string trios, woodwind quartets, woodwind quintets, and chamber orchestras - to name a few.
