There are many ways to cultivate your musical skill whether it's visual, kinesthetic, or auditory. Let's find out which way works best for you!

Most schools do not offer the flexibility in learning styles necessary for you to find your ideal way of processing new information, whether it be visual, auditorial, kinesthetic, memetic, right brain/left brain, etc.

That's why I'm here! I pride myself on working with each individual student on the subtle ways that they learn and form healthy habits. If you have any questions about my teaching styles or methods please ask!

A little more about me:

I have over 10 years of guitar experience, studying under Jazz heavyweights Corey Christiansen, Oteil Burbridge, and Dan Miller. I pride myself in putting my students needs and wants above all else. I wish to impart a love for music onto my students that can only be cultivated by the bond a teacher and their student share, let us learn and grow together!

About Grant
Hello!

My name is Grant and I’ve been helping students grow for almost 10 years now! How time flies! I started playing music at the age of 9 and have been in love with it ever since, staying active in my local music scene as an instructor, performer, manager, and booking agent. I have also earned a degree in Creative Writing from Louisiana State University for all of the students wishing improve their writing skills!

In addition to freelance work, (weddings, jazz brunch gigs, etc.) I am the lead guitarist for the Funk/R&B band Water Seed and the soul project RetroFit. I attended Indiana University for jazz guitar and have studied under jazz greats Dan Miller, Corey Christiansen, and Oteil Burbridge.

I pride myself in taking a students learning needs and using that as my basis for their specific lesson plan, always on a case-by-c
ase basis, tailored to each individual student. Everyone is at a different waypoint on their path so why would I use a predetermined formula to try and help them, am I right? I am excited to meet and grow with every single one of you, let's learn to love the life we have and let our studies become radiant!

I teach all kinds of disciplines from guitar, mandolin, banjo, and clarinet, to creative writing, meditation, and even astrology. If you have any questions about my teaching methods, skill level in a certain discipline, or anything thing you can think of I would be more than happy to answer you!

Musically yours,
Grant

I teach clarinet primarily through the tried and true Rubank method. Students will learn how to properly care for the instrument, how to read music, music theory, instrument technique, practice techniques, ear training (how to play by ear), reed selection, and repertoire. I also employ custom exercises specifically for clarinet to help my students progress the fastest.

About Kyle
Hello potential students! I have a B.A. in instrumental music education and composition. I have taught private lessons for over 12 years. Teaching private music lessons is my primary job, so I have much experience and wisdom compared to teachers who teach "on the side." Students of all ages stay with me a long time because I am very flexible in my teaching and know how to interact with many personalities and learning styles, producing great results and progress. My specialties are piano, woodwinds, and music technology (i.e. recording and production). You can find more information about me and what I do at caseymusicservice﮳com.

Kyle has given me contra bass, aka upright bass, weekly lessons from August 2015 through May 2016. I have never played a string instrument prior to this, although I do play piano and have played the flute, bagpipes, and piccolo over the years. I did not need education in reading music.

Kyle was able to take me from sounding like a lower octave version of Jack Benny (a mid-20th century comedian famous for his howlingly horrid violin playing) to a level where I know how to hold the instrument and the bow, the fingerings, bowing technique, and how to get a very respectable sound from the instrument.

He also installed the strings when I received the new instrument, found a manufacturing flaw in the bridge height that the manufacturer subsequently paid to repair, and diagnosed a resonance issue with the instrument that was corrected with a balance weight on the string below the bridge.

Ready to put together some effective practice skills and learn how to get around the horn? Maybe you're getting ready for that All-State audition or to take that first chair spot or learn to play some fun tunes. I'm willing to help if you're able to practice. Texts vary depending on level, genre, and what you're interested in achieving. Topics to be covered include but aren't limited to: How to practice to make the most of our lessons and your time, good fundamentals and technique, sight reading, theory, improvisation, suggested listening and repertoire, audition prep...

About Kevin
School is important, but MUSIC is importanter. Learning to practice and love it is one of the most useful skills anybody can ask for in any field. I wholeheartedly believe that anyone that puts in honest practice and exploration will find a way around an instrument. For the last 20 years I have been teaching privately, in the public, private and charter schools, and have been writing and playing professionally. Some of my best students have pursued music as a career and some are engineers or housewives or something else, but playing music is something they all hold close to their hearts.

I had the pleasure of being Mr. Muncy's student during my high school years. I started as a beginner in my sophomore year having never taken a music lesson. I took this course simply to fulfill an arts requirement, but his infectious passion for music and teaching inspired in me a deeper interest in the subject. His patience, unique teaching style, and ability to communicate complicated musical concepts equipped me with the capability to pursue music more seriously. After graduating from his music program, I joined the symphony band at my university, held various steady professional gigs and formed my own groups for performing at charity events. Three years of lessons with Mr. Muncy, and some dedication on my end, allowed me to surpass my own expectations in music. I continue to play while pursuing a career as a Physician Assistant and feel privileged to have Mr. Muncy as a mentor. His lessons not only allowed me to pursue my passion for music, but have taught me life skills that have also molded me as a clinician. If you are looking to take music lessons, I highly recommend Mr. Kevin Muncy.

Kevin was an excellent teacher when I had him many moons ago - I can only imagine that he has improved since then. I was a beginner, learning the bass. That isn't Kevin's primary instrument, but he was knowledgeable enough to help me lay much of the foundation for the all that I know in bass playing today. He helped inform my music history knowledge, appreciation and pointed me to some great artists, books (esp. Free Play), and people to learn from. Perhaps more importantly, he really helped stimulate my growth and development within music and within life itself. I credit a good part of who I am and my success today to the tutelage and teaching of Kevin.

I want lessons to be fun but also challenging and disciplined. I am very adamant about starting with a set of warm up exercises every day followed by scale work. But I also want the student to play what they want to play, so I will either ask them to find a piece to be approved by me or I will find a piece for them based on what they like and are looking for. Every student is different so I will treat them as such! I will also help them bring any ensemble music they need help with to their lessons.

About Joseph
Hi there! I just recently finished my Masters in Clarinet Performance from the University of Maryland and I would love to teach your student! I teach both clarinet and saxophone and have 5 years of teaching experience. I have worked for the Richardson School of Music, FAME, and the SHARP program at William Wirt Middle School in Maryland as well as Cedar Shoals, East Jackson, Decatur, and other high schools in Georgia. I am also an avid learner and I believe that no two students should be treated or approached in the same way. I have been very fortunate to have so many great teachers in my life and I do my best to use everything they have taught me to help my students!

I received my Bachelor's of Music in Clarinet Performance from the University of Georgia and my Masters from the University of Maryland. I currently play clarinet and bas
s clarinet in The Florida Orchestra. Please feel free to visit my website at www.josephbeverly.com for recordings and more information about me!

I focus on the fundamentals and on having fun playing the clarinet. In the first lessons we will concentrate on developing good embouchure and hand position so you can create a beautiful sound. We will work on a variety of music, depending on your interests. I can help you master your parts for school bands and ensembles. I welcome students at all levels, and make sure that all of my students recognize the progress they make at each lesson. I look forward to working with you!

About Alessandro
Hi, my name is Alessandro. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance from DePaul University School of Music and I have been teaching lessons since April 2015. I am currently studying for my Master's Degree at DePaul as well. I think there are two important parts of taking clarinet lessons: learning the fundamentals, and having lots of fun. I focus on basics like embouchure, air, and tone to help you develop good technique. I will also work with you to select music that you like and that you will be excited to play.

Hi! My name is Eddie, and I’m a professional clarinet, bass clarinet, and saxophone player in the Ann Arbor area. I currently play with local orchestras such as the Ann Arbor and West Michigan Symphonies, among others. My goal as a teacher is to help cultivate an enriching and entertaining musical experience with the clarinet and/or saxophone, while catering to each student's goals–whether it be achieving high scores in solo competitions or simply learning to play a few easy jazz tunes.

About Edward
Hi, my name is Eddie Sundra, and I teach private clarinet and saxophone in the Ann Arbor area. I've been playing clarinet and saxophone for over 15 and 10 years, respectively, and I've been teaching professionally for the past five years. My musical interests generally include classical, jazz, and a slew of other musical genres ranging from ethnic to electronic. I have experience teaching students from beginning through collegiate levels, with a special emphasis on middle and high school students. As a doubler myself, I encourage clarinet students who are interested in jazz to learn saxophone, as it expands their versatility and expressive capabilities.
As a performer, I have played in orchestras and chamber ensembles across the country and some in Europe. I am currently a substitute member of a few small orchestras in the state of Michi
gan and elsewhere, and I will be performing with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, one of the country's best young artist orchestras.
I have two degrees in clarinet performance from two highly ranked music programs, and my principal teachers include Chad Burrow, Dan Gilbert, and Dr. Anthony J. Costa. I have also completed additional studies with major symphony players such as Michael Rusinek, Joaquin Valdepenas, and Burt Hara.
As a teacher, I've maintained small private studios in the Ann Arbor, MI and State College, PA areas. I've also taught saxophone and clarinet in Aspen, Colorado with the P.A.L.S. program, as part of the Aspen Music Festival.

--Teaching Philosophy--

My goal as a teacher is to help cultivate an enriching and entertaining musical experience with the clarinet and/or saxophone. I hope to cater to the student’s goals as a performer (whether it be achieving perfect scores in solo competitions or simply learning to play a few easy jazz tunes), while offering a wealth of information along the way. Lessons will focus on fundamentals, musical literacy, aural skills, artistic creativity, improvisation, and composition. While I believe that structure in lessons is important for consistent development, I also believe that every student has different needs, therefore each student will receive custom-tailored lessons. The material I use is a culmination of both what I've used as a developing clarinetist, as well as materials my teachers have used and recommended in pedagogy classes I've taken.

In short, it is my hope that I can help students obtain their goals while enjoying the wonderfully creative experience of learning an instrument and expressing themselves through the wonderful world of music.

I started playing clarinet in 1998 and continued through college. I took private lessons under Dr. Christopher Gibson at Northwest Missouri State University. I have a Bachelor of Education in Instrumental Music from that university as well.

About Dana
It has been a dream of mine for a long time to be a full-time piano teacher. I have been playing piano since the age of five. Teaching is in my genes, both of my parents teach special education. My father is a music nerd as well! He shared his joy of music with me and I want to pay it forward.

Some of my strengths include patience, humor and compassion for others. I want to figure out what makes you tick. What do you want to learn about piano? I am always looking for new and exciting ways to teach piano. Did you know they make color by note coloring books? At the end of the day if I can share even a fraction of my love for music with you and you are able to learn something, that is what gives me true joy.

About Cole
Dr. Cole D. Belt's passion for collaborative art has resulted in the participation and/or formation of several distinguished chamber ensembles throughout his career including the Aeolus Saxophone Quartet, Duo Velocipede, Mana Quartet, Impression Saxophone Ensemble, and Singularity. Through his involvement with these groups Cole has been heard in concert halls across the U.S. and Europe in masterclass settings, competitions, music festival residencies, chamber series, and guest artist recitals. Regarding his recent Carnegie Hall debut Cole has been described as "a splendid performer who brings wonderful spirit and life to my music" by Pulitzer Prize winning composer Charles Wuorinen and by Curtis Institute composer David Ludwig as "at once sensitive, nuanced, brash, and daring: all depending on the demands of the music."

As an undergra
duate, Cole traveled with the Aeolus Saxophone Quartet to perform world premieres of Jens Marggraf's Three Dances in Germany and Poland as guest artists. He then returned to Poland, during his Masters degree at Florida State University, for five more concerts with the Impression Saxophone Ensemble at international chamber music festivals.

Praised by composer Neil Anderson-Himmelspach for their "precision of rhythms, intonation, clarity of articulation, and sensitivity to radical shifts of mood..." Duo Velocipede is a salient combination of flute and saxophone. They had their inaugural performance at the Biennial Festival of New Music in early 2013. Since then, they have continued to perform around Florida, Georgia, and recently performed a guest artist recital at Harford College in Aberdeen, Maryland.  Anderson-Himmelspach in currently writing a concerto for the Duo.

Singularity performed first for the International Ligeti Festival and Symposium in 2013 where they collaborated with Lukas Ligeti on his quartet Frozen State of Song. Since then they have performed for Michael Maccaferri, clarinetist for the three time Grammy winning sextet eighth blackbird, who praised them for their "...unfaltering rhythmic precision and razor sharp ensemble playing with a sensitive and thoughtful interpretation of the score..." in regard  to their championing of Pulitzer Prize winning composer Charles Wuorinen's Quartet. Singularity made their Carnegie Hall debut in May of 2015.

Cole is a D'Addario Performing Artist and uses Reserve Classic Reeds, exclusively.

Lessons with Cole helped me grow not only as a saxophonist, but as a musician and person as well. He was my lessons TA for a year at Florida State University. Very patient and willing to work with his students, yet he knows when you are putting in an honest effort and when you are not. In our time together at FSU he demonstrated a wide array of knowledge and ability on the saxophone and music, including many discussions about music history, different musical styles, and transfers we can make from other instruments. If you work hard, and are honest with both Cole and yourself, you will find yourself learning a great deal and making a great friend along the way. I would recommend lessons from him to anyone.

I took lessons from Cole during my siohmore year in college. Within just a few months he had identified and corrected 3 major problems in my playing that no other teacher had noticed. Many of my friends have taken lessons with Cole as well and no one has had a bad experience.
As a teacher Cole was never late and always made me comfortable asking questions. Cole can also explain abstract, difficult to grasp concepts like no other teacher I've had before.

Cole Belt was my saxophone teacher during my first year at the Florida State University, and he had a huge impact on my approach to musicianship, both as a musician and as a human being. He helped me to realize my long and short term goals as a musician and guided me to achieving my utmost potential during my time as his student. His meditative and methodical approach to teaching and instrumental music-making is comprehensive and simplistic in nature, and he was always able to provide critical advice and various perspectives when I learning to establish my own musical concepts of phrasing, etc. I experienced growth during every lesson due to his preparation and knowledge of the instrument. But, most importantly, he was clear in his direction, and patiently provided multiple approaches to the same concept when I was having trouble understanding. He challenged me to expect more out of myself, and I am very thankful for the incredible foundation he helped me to establish during my first year as a undergraduate music student. I have seen him lead masterclasses with musicians of all ages, and he would be a lovely teacher to any woodwind student, at any level of development.
