Lauren taught my son saxophone for 5 years, beginning with his very first lesson at age 9, and continuing throughout middle school. She was always very patient, reassuring, and encouraging. Lauren really helped to develop my son's love for music and playing the sax! She prepared him for middle school jazz band auditions, and helped with his jazz band music throughout those years. Lauren challenged him with new selections when his school band music became too easy, but always allowed him to work at a pace he found comfortable. Now in HS, he's very busy with all things band, so lesson time is limited for him, but we wouldn't hesitate to call Lauren again.

Lauren has been giving my son saxophone lessons for over 4 years. She has been an excellent teacher always on time and available. He has progressed under her direction very well. Currently, she's teaching our daughter acoustic guitar and we've been very happy with her progress.

We had a little trouble with our connection but Lauren is great and very patient. Hopefully we can get all the issues with the connection worked out and we are looking forward to the next class! I think it’s going to help my daughter a lot!

My son has been taking piano lessons with Damien for a few months now and it is amazing how much he has progressed! Damien has tremendous patience in listening to my 8-year-olds chatter and redirecting him back to the lesson when he gets off track. My son enjoys his lessons and looks forward to having Damien over!

"I took lessons with Mrs.Bemus from 2008-2010. I also had her as my elementary band teacher. Before she started working with me, I had no experience with the saxophone. Working with her really helped me not only musically, but also confidence wise. Kim Bemus is not only super encouraging but will work with you at whatever speed you need to go in order to get better. If it wasn’t for her mentoring and patience, I would’ve never continued playing the saxophone or became the musician I am today. If I had to suggest someone to do tutoring with on saxophone - or any instrument, I should say - I would suggest her in a heartbeat."

"Mr. Frixos is very patient, helpful and knowledgable on what he teaches. My daughter is excited to work with him. I give him a 5 because he keeps the parent informed about what lessons he is working on with my daughter and what he expects her to work on. He explains everything even to me so I can assist my daughter.
Thanks Mr. Frixos you are wonderful. Great personality!"

Stephen put my anxiety to rest and made me feel comfortable learning something new. Did I mention I am 52? Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? Stephen shows it just takes the right teacher.

"Love Working With Him!

I study jazz saxophone with Imraan once a week. I originally found him through a recommendation from a friend, and was using him to prepare me for the All State NYSSMA auditions in my senior year of high school. The lessons were so helpful that I continued through college... Since then I've improved so much. He understands how to break down complicated information and present it to you in a way that you'll be able to understand and process. He is active in the music community, so you can drop in on a show and see him and one of his bands in action... Worth a visit.

Also, he always has a great selection of music to choose from for you to learn, and a great set of helpful tips and tools that work great for me! Highly recommend!!!!"

"Dr. Wen is an outstanding saxophone instructor, performer, and technician! I learned more from him in my first two 30 minute lessons than I had in 15 years of playing.
He will teach you how to make your practice time more productive, alternate fingerings to play more in tune, techniques to make note transitions easier, how to prepare new reeds for playing.... and on and on.
I had not played for a very long time. Dr Wen got me from there to where I was playing in a University Wind Ensemble, a quartet, and a community band. He also knew exactly where my saxophone needed to be adjusted to make it play better.
Dr Wen was my instructor for approximately 7 years. I learned a tremendous amount from him. You can’t do any better than Dr Andy Wen. He’s outstanding!"

Choosing a Neck Strap | How to Play Saxophone Tips

Learning how to play saxophone starts with the right equipment--namely, a quality neck strap! Read on for some helpful advice from Brookings, SD teacher Carl S...    The saxophone is a unique instrument for many reasons. One example is that the saxophone is the only band instrument that uses a neck strap. Unfortunately, the neck strap is often the most overlooked aspect of playing the instrument. One of the first things that I stress to a new student is the importance of the neck str …
