About Harry
I started playing clarinet in the school band at age six. My father was a musician, and he thought that playing in the school band would help me overcome my extreme shyness. I remember my first music lesson. I really liked my teacher. He came to my house, and he helped me to care for my clarine

I figure out exactly where you are in your technique and knowledge of music and of the instrument. Then, I start teaching from there! For me, the goal of lessons should be the goal of the student, and I do my best to honor that while pushing my students to surpass those goals.
My ultimate aim, is to provide you with an approach to practicing and performing music, that keeps you wanting to go back to do more.
In my career, I primarily play the tenor and baritone saxophones, but I mostly teach alto, and play soprano sometimes. Additionally, I also play the clarinet, bass clarinet, flute and piccolo. With this experience, I help out a lot of my more advanced saxophone students with doubling on these instruments, so they can be prepared for college and the professional world.
I encourage my advanced Jr. High and High School students to audition for various honor groups throughout California and the country such as SCSBOA, CBDA, JBOA, etc. With my background in these groups, I ...

Saxophone:
A family of woodwind instruments, saxophones are usually made of brass and played with a single-reed mouthpiece similar to that of the clarinet. Like the clarinet, saxophones have holes in the instrument which the player closes using a system of key mechanisms. When the player presses a key, this typically causes a pad to close over a hole. There is soprano, alto, tenor, bass and baritone saxophones. The great thing about learning saxophone is it is almost the same fingers as flute and clarinet! We will start with the basics of learning finger placement, breath control, notes, reading, rhythms, songs, theory and improvising.

I have been teaching saxophone for 22 years. I have an earned Masters degree in music and enjoy teaching students of all ages. I am happily married with 5 children at home--4 of them are musicians as well (the youngest is 4).. Students will quickly learn not only the basics of music theory, but will be playing songs as early as their first lesson. It is extremely rewarding watching students have fun, excel, and fall in love with making music. I presently teach music at 3 schools (1 college) and only have a few lessons slots available. I look forward to working with you.
