I'm a casual, easy-going, caring person, and I enjoy establishing a unique working relationship with each student.
I have been teaching flute for about twenty years.
In teaching I employ a personal, individual, flexible approach, to give my students each what benefits him/her the most. I emphasize proper technique, beauty of tone, musical interpretation, and enjoyment. Music theory is intertwined with the instruction. And we play lots of duets!
I also play the piano, thus sometimes accompany my flute students.
About Diane
I have been playing the flute since fifth grade, a long time! I have taught flute privately for about twenty years. My second degree is an AA in Music from Grossmont College, near San Diego, CA. As a flutist I have been a member of both the La Jolla Civic Orchestra and the Grossmont Symphony Orche

I have over 14 years of experience in teaching flute and piano to students of all ages and levels. My goal as a flute teacher is to give each student a very well rounded and thorough understanding of the instrument. Lessons will be tailored to each student and will include the following: knowledge of instrument care/maintenance, tone production, technique (scales, etudes, etc), musicality, music theory, and a variety of repertoire from classical to pop.
About Sheila
My interest in music began at the age of seven when I began private instruction in classical piano, and by the age of ten, I began playing the flute. I received my Bachelor of Music with a degree in Music Education from the University of Redlands, where I studied flute with Sara Andon. There, I perf

The flute is an enchanting instrument, and it's so fun to learn! While it can be challenging, after just a few lessons with me, you can be playing some simple tunes. One of my dedicated students played a duet with me after just three lessons! I personally have been playing the flute for 17 years. I have performed in high school and college bands, and have been able to gain some teaching experience in the last few years. Our lessons will cover terminology, note reading, site reading, and technique, especially best embouchure practices.
About Rachel
Hello, my name is Rachel. I have been playing the flute for 17 years, ever since I was nine years old. I played in a small beginner band for about three years, during which I was also in school flute competitions. My flute teacher had a strong emphasis on rhythm and counting, for which I'm grateful.

Playing the flute has given me so much joy, and it is my dream to pass that joy along to others. Music lessons can offer you so much more than a new skill or getting better at an instrument; they can improve your mental health, your confidence, and even help kids do better in school! Good music teachers teach their students how to find beauty in everything, to think more critically, and to see mistakes as opportunities for growth. These three ideas are at the core of my teaching philosophy. In all my lessons, beginner to advanced, students learn how to make beautiful music, sight reading, basic music theory, and safe practice strategies. We work out of the Rubank method book, but I also utilize handwritten exercises. I also always encourage my students to bring music they want to learn!
Absolute Beginners: In our very first lesson, students learn the parts of the flute and how to make a sound. We learn about flute care, and how to correctly hold the flute. Basic music theory is ...

I was blessed to find Katrina King to help me learn flute, again. Now I'm playing in a band, for senior players. She is a competent/knowledgable, kind, and encouraging teacher. I have great respect and love for her as a teacher, and a friend.
I would highly recommend Katrina, at what ever level a flutist is.
Playing the flute brings me great joy, as I see steady growth. I'm always learning something new.""
